Mederma or Palmer's both contain hydroquinone 2%. Prescription strength is 4%.

what kind of scar is it? Is it discoloration, keloid, etc?

Anyone know firsthand if those mederma patches/creams actually work?
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.

I used mederma cream on my c-section scar and it worked great!! It is only slightly visible under regular lighting so at work I don't have a problem at all. Although, my OBGYN did say that I was very lucky to have the doc that performed the c-section and that she did a fantastic job on the incision. He said if a doc knows what he/she is doing you can have minimal scaring....so I gues I got lucky!! He did recomend using mederma on the scar and I think it helped a great deal. I have also used it on other old scars and it has helped them fade significantly!!

Those drugstore silicone sheeting scar things worked well for me.
Also, if your scar is new, make sure to keep it slathered in sunblock any time you will be exposing it to the sun or tanning (try for the first year after you get the scar). UV rays can cause the scar to discolor compared to the rest of your skin.
Mederma has worked wonders for me. The only I have noticed with Mederma is that when I stop using it the scars seem to be noticable again. Maybe I did not use it long enough. I think the directions say to use it several times a day for 4 to 6 months, which I did not.
