    Default Rescued From A Cat....

    I love Florida wildlife.

His tail was torn off, and he was pinned in a corner. Poor lil dear. I dont think I will keep him, but I will make sure he's ok, feed him... let him go in a few days. The green anoles around here are so rare anymore...

:hugs: My ultimate dream is to be able to be a wildlife carer full time

That dream requires a healthy passive income and a nice property. It will happen one day...

My recent "good deed" for the native animals was to remove a wallabies body from the road. It had obviously not survived it's "meeting" with whatever vehicle that clean took its head off... I wasn't about to have other animals that would naturally feed off it also be claimed by cars and other vehicles... so I moved it to the side of the road.

Did this as I was driving back of a night from Biloela recently. Thank the God/dess I didn't have any collisions!

awwww I love lizards. I thought it was a skink for a second, hah.
Yes, I once attempted to move a porcupine's body from the road. However, I think it had been sitting too long.........yeah. I think it's awful when animals are just left on the road after being hit. God, in Alberta you see them all the time.........birds (how can someone hit a BIRD??) domestic animals, wild rabbits, deer, even moose. It's so sad and sick.

The green anoles are indeed on the decline. Almost all you see are the imported brown ones anymore. See if you can get him some teeny crickets from a local pet shop. You know they sell anoles up north for like 8 bucks a pop? Crazy. We used to wear them as earrings when I was a wee lad. Either that or we'd make little harnesses out of thread and safety pin the thread to our shirts, and you had a little pet-on-a-leash that climbed around on you all day. Good times.

The leeeeeezirt recovered and is out in the wild once more! In it's place is a sweetheart of a Cuban Tree Frog. Ok, so I wanted a Green.... but for now, he's too cute.

Hey MrC.... being my resident frog expert.... do you know how to tell the gender on a Cuban? Or how many will live together well in one tank? One male to a tank?

I'm really not sure. I think the females are bigger at maturity, and the males will obviously call....other than that. I dunno. I kept several together for awhile, and had no problems. Keep in mind, of course, if it fits in their mouth they will eat it so try and keep the size ratios fairly constant. I really have no idea if males would be dominant/aggressive with one another. I suppose it would also have to do with the size of the tank, too. I'll poke around online and see if I can find out. There's a "Herps" group on myspace that's occasionally helpful. I know on many types of frogs the sexing methods are really obscure, like a small dark spot on the front foot of males, in august on a tuesday when the moon is full etc.
