    Default Have you encountered.....?

Ok, so the other night at work, 5 guys walked in the door.
Apparently, these two guys thought it would be a good idea to take out the other 3 (they were 3 mentally handicapped guys from a place they work at). It was very akward for me because one guy was pretty bad, and the other two were pretty quiet and smiled a lot.
So these two guys were buying table dances for their "freinds" all night, and everyone was seeming to have a pretty good time, but it made me feel pretty akward. Has anyone encountered this before? Any thoughts / comments?
I am pretty new to this and I dont really know if its a common thing for guys to do.

I just had a pleasant night with a mentally handicapped man recently. He liked to talk a lot and buy double dances. I think they're nicer and more mellow, and hey... they love the attention from pretty girls! Don't let it hold you back.

as long as the two guys weren't using the three as objects of derision, I see nothing wrong with it. I think I've danced for a couple minorly mentally handicapped fellows. -shrug- I almost feel better that I'm really making an experience for them.

wether or not those men are being exploited depends on their particular disability and level thereof.

My concern is that the exploitation aspect, as well. As in, whose money was really being used for the dances?

I have a mentally retarded step brother, and he doesn't really understand that you need to make your paycheck last until the next one comes along. One time when he got his paycheck, he went right to Best Buy and bought a home entertainment system and a game console, using his whole month's wages. He was so pissed when my step dad made him return all his new stuff. He just doesn't have any concept of how to use money.

If they guys had fun then its cool. I don't think anyone would make the effort to bring someone to a SC then spend lots of their own money as a joke. That would seem to be really going out of their way. They probably did it so the guys could get the experience. (shrug)

i danced for someone who was mentally challenged once, and everything went fine, as he was quite docile. his friend handed me the money and told me to take care of his friend...the guy didn't try to touch, and he had a smile on his face during and after the dance. so i guess it went well. as long as the person behaves and understands the rules of the club, and is not exploited (as stated above), all should be well. if he can get enjoyment from a club, then all the power to him.

Having worked at a home for DD and MI adults back in the eighties I can say that the people in those homes sometimes have benefactors or guardians who provide money for them. Some have accounts governed by their appointed guardian. Some may even have part time jobs depending on how high functioning they are.

And yes, sometimes they have the opportunity to go out and spend their own money. Not saying this is the case here, but trips to favorite restaurants or entertainment venues of a less adult nature were common occurances.

Not sure the house manager or guardian would have gone along with this trip however.

    Excellent point.

I think in situations like the one described in this topic it is best to go with your gut feeling. If you are uncomfortable then it is probably best for you to avoid that table or group of men.

Thanks for your input, everyone. The whole exploitation thing is really kinda what I was worried about. The guys had a great ime and all, I just didn't think the one guy really realized the whole money situation.
The two guys that brought them in would give you 5 bucks to do a table dance, but hten they would tip you on top of that, so I don't know if its just me, but I felt guilty about taking their money or something.
