    Default Confused, Confused, Confused

I've only been SC'ing a couple of evenings now. I find this board here so hopefully I can get some newbie questions answered. Here goes:

    1. I read of customers dropping countless $$$ on dances and tips. All I do at my club of choice is relax at the bar, have a few sodas and enjoy the action on the stages. I don't get dances nor do I really attract attention to myself. Is this bad form to sit at the bar, relax and enjoy the show or is dropping $$$ on dancers the norm?

    2. What is considered appropriate dress? I personally like denim jeans and a good shirt. I never wear shorts & sneakers looking like I got out of the gym but i do want to be comfortable without the expensive threads.

    3. I would like to get more info like a calendar of events, specials and etc. However the club website links don't provide info so is it cool to ask a bartender or other club personnel for info or do I risk getting tossed?

Any help to make my SC excursions better would be great. Many thanks.

I don't dance yet, but I will soon and I have been led to believe that if you are "enjoying the show", not tipping the girl you've been checking out would be rude. Would you watch a movie without paying for the ticket? You don't have to drop hundreds, but some amount would be appreciated.

But you should probably wait for a better answer from an actual dancer.

Yeah - you don't have to drop a fortune but if you enjoyed the show, the girl was working and you were partaking in her services by watching her work - naturally it would be courteous to tip.

Definately tip the girl at the LEAST. After all..they are the reason you are there...you could have gotten a beer anywhere(for a lot less most likely). You dont have to spend your whole paycheck...but a buck or two to each girl you are watching is polite.

Why go to a strip club if you dont want to watch or interact with the girls? And if you do either...you should at least tip.

I also agree with telling her up front that you dont do dances...so she doesnt waste her time. And for gods sake...DO NOT call a girl over to you if you are not planning to spend money on her. Would seem like common sense but it happens all the time:
"come sit with me..you are SO beautiful"
" thank you...would you like a dance?"(sometimes said right away, sometimes after talking for a song or two)
"oh no..I dont get dances"(Or I dont have any money or I dont pay for dances....some variation on you arent getting any of my money)

And please...if she doesnt want to sit with you after finding out that you arent going to spend money on her...dont pull the "oh..I guess it's all about the money for you isn't it?" line. Answer:Yes it is. If we can have fun at the same time...BONUS! But the bottom line is this is our job and we are there to make money.
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

While I'm sure there are exceptions, generally when people go to a pizza parlor, they order a pizza, and the pizza of course isn't free.

I think the big disconnect that casual customers have, esspecially newbies, is not realizing that dancers in most instances do not get an hourly wage to shake their ass up there. If enough people come in who don't feel the need to pay for the show, well...the ladies will more than likely quit eventually.

Buying dances isn't required, but if you're going to invest your attention in a particular gal's stage performance, a couple of bucks on the rail for her would be nice.

    1. you don't have to spend alot of money on the girls if you don't want to & contrary to what the pinkies say you don't need to tip every girl on stage. if you not attracted to her or your not gawking at her you don't need to tip. alot of them will also say go drink somewhere cheaper if your not going to spend money on the dancers, if you can afford $10 drinks, drink where ever you want. most clubs will comp refills on sodas but the first is usually same cost as a beer.

    2. dress depends on the club, but as long as you don't stink & your cloths are clean you'll do ok till they figure out your not spending.

3.just ask the manager or bartender. most will be happy to tell you, others are only interested in talking to the hi rollers & don't think the opinion of bar customers counts.

I have no problem with customers that just want to hang out in the club under the following circumstances:

*If he is doing something else other than watching/ talking to the dancers (gambling, playing pool, watching TV, hanging with the bouncer etc.)
*If he is in a business meeting and is obviously busy.
*If he is having a meal.
*If there is already another dancer hanging out with him (either working or on her day off)

Otherwise social ediquette dictates that you should avert your eyes from nudity, so the tips you are providing the dancers makes it okay to look at them in the nude.

Basically, if you are watching the stage show, you should be tipping. Most dancers are okay with $1-2 per song, so you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy the stage show.

Spending no money on dancers at a strip club is asinine. Going to a bar or club for the drinks should be left to a regular bar or club. Strip clubs have dancers for a reason, and they dont pay us, for the most part. We work for what you tip. No one says you have to tip everyone, or every song, or get dances... but for Frith's sake, spend SOME money on the hard working girls.

Our club has a few bar regulars, there's dancer regulars and bar regulars. Bar regulars are the ones who sit up at the bar, drink all night long, talk to the bartender and never tip the girls and never get dances. Trust me, every dancer in there learns who those guys are real quick, do you think those guys get any attention at all? No, we pretend they're not there. The only time they get attention is when a new girl comes in, because I was that new girl one time and gave this one guy about 3 minutes of attention and realized I was wasting my time. Please, for the love of god, do not go to a strip club, sit up at the stage or bar, drink all night and not at the bare minimum tip the girls! I mean come on! You're talking maybe $30 in tips all night, $1 per dancer up there at minimum, even if you don't like her, is a dollar going to kill you?

I'm not directing this at you, I'm telling you how dancers at the club will think of you, if you don't at least tip them and quite honestly, that's probably how the rest of the club staff thinks too, we just don't talk about it, because less tips dancers get means less tip out they get.

    Holy Hell!!!
I never imagined my question would garner such response!! Anyhow, I went to the club last night and tried out some of your advice and did it make a difference in my excursion?? Hell yes it did! The dancers were very appreciative of the tips and even had a few words with me. What a difference than being a bump on a log at the bar! I guess if you ask for a dancer's advice, you're going to get it!!! Thank you!!

Yes, it is bad form. Yes you are buying the drink from the bar, but that has nothing to do with us, and we are obviously the reason you are there (exhibit A: you went home and googled "exotic dancers" or "strippers" and came here to interact with us more). There are two businesses in a strip club, and you really do need to patronize both to be there. I mean, you don't need to spend $1000 a trip, or even $100, but you do need to spend something.

    You sound fine to me.

Why would you be tossed for asking about promotions? Although - see? You are obviously wildy facinated with the strip clubs. That means you have to tip. If they are not "promoting" promotions, however (I know, I know - it sounds weird, but you know what I mean) chances are excellent that they are not having any. Like if they were having a contest of some kind, the DJ would bark about it every five minutes, and there would probably be a sign out front, etc.

On one of my visits to the GC, I encountered the following which led to my questions to you. It's just further proof of how much of a newbie I am....

    1. A guy comes into the club wearing Gators and a full suit and tie, I'm only wearing a shirt and jeans...

    2. There are two guys sitting a few seats away from me. They're high rollers for sure, I caught that much. Anyhow, they have their money fanned out on the bar and dropping Franklins and Grants to any dancer that caught their fancy. I got freaked out a bit that the dollar tips I gave were cheap compared to what these guys were handing out....

    3. The promotions the club signage had were outdated by a few days. I thought to inquire to the bartenders about any special events or promos. The bar security was close by and just got done roughing up a guy for touching a dancer's breasts. I did'nt want to get tossed for talking to a busy bartender so I just kept quiet and inquire the club's website but it too was'nt updated yet.....

Your continued advice and input is always appreciative. Many thanks for your time and counsel.

why would you get thrown out for asking the bartender if there are drink specials?

anyway, we understand not all customers are going to be high rollers. It's fine if you're not. Just tip something to show respect.

on the south side of houston gping to a regular bar or club before 11pm is asinine & you will be the only person in the bar. so if you want a few drinks before then you have two choices, the strip club or a shithole & i don't drink in a shit hole. i don't tip everyone, only the girls i find attractive. i do spend lots of money on drinks, & those driks help pay the overhead so you will have a place to work.
i've probably dropped close to $20,000 this year in one club about half on drinks & half on dances. i'm very selective on who i tip & buy dances from.

That's a shame. I'm glad I live in an area with a decent non-SC night life then

the night life in the clear lake, south houston area is great.the bars & clubs are much better & closer together than the bars were when i lived on the north side of houston. most of the clubs have live music & the bands don't start till 11, so thats when everyone shows up & we drink enougfh in those few hours to make up for not showing up till then. there is probly 10 clubs within a 15 mile radius so you have lots of options .when i was living on the north side the bars were going good by 9:30.

A dollar per song per dancer is appropriate. If you go and watch the show, and you don't tip anyone for it or buy any dances, then you're a freeloading prick and you know it. We're not there for volunteer hours, you know.

And if you're sitting at the tip rail, then you MUST tip. If you're not going to tip, then you should at least have the decency to stay as far away from the stage as possible, and also you should refrain from wasting dancers' time when you are approached. But then, if you're not going to sit near the stage or enjoy any of the dancers' company, one does wonder what you're doing at the club.

The more you spend, the more fun you will have. Being a freeloading prick will not be much fun.

Yek, at my home club, a dollar per song per dancer would be about $45/hour (they run girls three at a time) just to tip the stage. I don't think half of the customers have $45 on them period, and the for the ones who do have more than that, I don't think the waitresses could make change fast enough, of course if the waitress makes change, you gotta tip her too.

Vinnie, the best rule of thumb I can give you is that if the gals at the club you're going to are happy with the level of your participation (and that will vary from gal to gal, and club to club), its all good.
