    Default dumb and dumber

I swear I am losing my intelligence dancing. I had a really great conversation with a custy the other day. We had a long talk about literature and art. I didnt realise that I hadnt been able to aheva conversation like that since I started dancing 6 years ago. I dont think many customers are interested in more than HI YOUR HOT! CAN I GET A DANCE?

My question is can lack of intelligent conversation make you stupid? I feel my intelligence is being wasted and neglected.

well obviously you were still able to have that conversation after six years of dancing, so no I don't think you're getting dumber. I do believe however that you're going to notice a lack of stimulating conversation at work and to avoid burnout you're going to need to a) get your mental stimulation outside of work and b) find stimulating little challenges to keep yourself occupied at work, i.e. harder stage shows, or little games to keep you entertained.

If you're smart, which you undoubtedly are, then lack of intelligent conversation will just make you bored. Unfortunately in the world of stripping hi-your-hot-can-I-get-a-dance is the biggest sentence that guys probly ever said. You'll probly have to seek intellectual equals elswhere. Like here! Glad you got one really great conversation, though!

HI YOUR HOT! CAN I GET A DANCE?-- if that's all I could hear from customers all night I'd be thrilled! lol

if you don't use your brain, it atrophies somewhat. but the damage can be repaired by, you know, exercising it outside of work. the brain is flexible that way.

I actually have a problem with getting sidetracked at work if I find a customer who has something intelligent to talk about- I'll yap, yap, yap. (You should have seen me when I met a custie who met Ayn Rand when she was alive. We became fast friends!)
Now that I'm wiser, I have to curb that behavior. I mean, the guy came to a strip club, not a think tank meeting.

You want conversation? Stay away from the guy who has already had six beers and makes WOO HOO noises.

Don't sit down with the four man buddy squad, as Man Laws apply: Thou Shalt Not Bore The Dancer As She May Get Up And Leave risking getting pummeled by three angry former friends.

Don't start the conversation with "Would you like a dance?" ask if he minds if you join him. The witty ones will usually have something prepared for a line like this. Dead giveaway if the guy goes: "uh.. sure... uh.." or something equally verbose.

    I know I'm new but...
    I am a "custy" not a dancer...
I went to a club recently on a vacation and had a great time, spent most of the time (and money) with one girl who was obviously experienced. We talked more than most do, and of course she told me to come back in a couple nights before I left town. I did, like a sucker, but she was off. She told her roommate, also a stripper, about me though.
The roommate started talking to me, and before I knew it, the bar was closed. I only had a few lap dances from her, but it was almost like it was a great first date. I am sure she was just working, but the conversation and laughs were more of a turn on than a naked girl doing the splits on stage. Serious. We were actually sitting at the stage and I was talking to her and looking at her, not even paying attention to the hot, naked bodies on stage.
This girl definitely raised, or ruined, the expectations from a strip club for me. I was completely turned on the entire time. It was the best experience I've ever had at a strip club, including even the dirty ones, lol.
Sooo, I'm sure it is not for all guys, but some like a good conversation too. Just thought I'd share.

I hear that. I totally had the talking disease when I worked. I'd get into some quasi-intellectual conversation and go on vacation, basically.

    Not recommended.

I think most jobs make you "dumber" in the sense the OP was talking about. Intellectual conversation is socializing, as a rule, not working.

When I was young I was a FOOL for anybody who thought I was smart LOL Later on I decided that "You seem too smart to be here" was usually an insult...and was also usually the sound of a wallet closing.

I know exactly what you mean. When I tell people, they give me the "use it or lose it". Well, I think it would take a really long time to really "lose" it. But, your brain probably isn't as strong if it hasn't been exersizing. It's like when you were in high school and came back after summer and your teachers had to start with the reeeaallyyy easy stuff.

Read books on what you're interested in... attend some classes... Stuff like that.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Not 'dumber' necessarily, but I find myself out of touch and unable to make smart conversation on up-to-date topics. Every day before work I make it a point to read the Snopes forum and the Misanthropic Bitch site. It keeps me up to date with science, politics, pop culture, myths etc... Works me brains, hyuck hyuck.

im a dumbass now, used to be really on to it, and able to hold conversations, but yeah, 4 years of dancing (and some time wasted on drug use) have definatly dampened my intellegance.

no worries, just keep your mind working. read, learn, whatever stimulates you OTC

I've actually stopped guys at work from talking saying "I have to stop you....I swear I'm losing IQ points with this conversation"

Funny..seems like the bigger a bitch I am...the more money I make....I dont understand it, but at least I can speak my mind without worrying about my pocketbook!
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

It's ok to have an intellectual conversation with a custy as long as after one song is over (2 if it is slow), you grab his hand and say "You're ready for some dances now, aren't you?"

As long as you don't forget that you are working to sell as many dances as possible, and don't get sidetracked by the conversation, talking with a sophisticated and intelligent man is great.
