    Heels

    Hello,
I'm new and I have a question about heels, I don't wear them at all ve;ry often. I tried wearing them around the house just for five minutes and my ankles were killing me. How do you get past that, also my ankles are very weak because of that. How do you dance in heels when I can't even walk in them

it all depends on what you can personally handle. if you aren't comfortable, or safe for that matter you're not going to look sexy. i danced with girls that wore 6,7,8 inch stillettos! not my bag. as i high as i go is 5inch, and that is only platforms with the thick heel, no stilettos!!!! it will actually strengthen your ankles, like how ice skating does. just be very careful, and iof nee d be, buy them and practice everyday in them. i can run better in my dancing shoes than i can tennis shoes! and i am so clumsy i trip over air!!!! lol! there are a lot of great stores online that sell these platforms. like for instance the site right above^ surprisehim...... also get the ones that have the strap around the ankle for extra support! good luck!

make sure you have good quality dancing shoes. they look very hard to walk in but are much more supportive then regular high heels. the whole bottom of your foot should be in contact with the shoe, if there are gaps where the sole of your foot should hit then buy a differnt brand, it will be well worth the money in the long run. tony shoes are great for people with high arches, elle and pleaser tend to be good for people with wider feet. and just move slowly, youll have better balance and its sexyer then a newbie trying fast moves and looking like a fish out of water.

i recommend getting heels that have platforms. not only does the platform have a more secure base, but the incline on the foot doesn't tend to be as severe as with regular high heels. also look for heels that have ankle straps to keep you in the shoe--that way you won't be wobbling all over and risk screwing up your ankles.

dr. scholls recently came out with open shoe insoles. i stick them in my heels and my feet feel great during the night and afterwards. at $7 at target they're worth it in the long run.

Make sure you're not walking on really fluffy carpet -- that's way harder than walking on tile or that really low carpet like they have in classrooms and such. There's no reason to be walking in your heels on regular house-carpet, because a club will either have a hard floor -- tile, wood, etc, -- or that hard carpet stuff.

I think the ankle strap makes a world of difference. I am so unsteady on shoes with just the front band, but I could probably run a marathon in my platforms with the ankle strap. I recommend Pleasers too.
