    Angry PMS or Depression?

For about two weeks before my period... I go insane...

    I will elaborate....

    I get extremely emotional

    ANGRY

    overly sensitive

    tired

and lazy. all I want to do is sleep. I cry constantly. I pick fights EVERYWHERE with EVERYONE.
Joe thinks that the I have a chemical imbalance...and I should take some kind of antidepressent or something.

It is making work hard. I have to really focus hard on the hustle... I feel forced and fake, I feel like everyone else thinks I look fake too. I just don't know if I should go to the doctor and say... Hi, I have PMS but I think I need something other then Midol.

Afternote: I never had this problem until I had my tubes tied (NO MORE BABIES FOR ME EVER AGIAN) Do you guys think that this issue has something do with the tubal?

I'm sorry Girl, I can totally identify with you. I used to get just like that. I swear!!

I finally went to the obgyn and told her of my "issues". We did a complete blood test to look at all of my hormone levels (thyroid levels, high or low can make you misserable) and thank goodness they were normal.

She suggested taking a multi-vitamin daily (I just take the Women 1-a-Day) to make sure I'm getting enough of the good stuff

She also added that I should exercise durning the times I feeling bad. Really a short walk does make you feel a little better.

    Good luck!

I know what you mean, although I don't suffer as much as you while PMS'ing. Phatypants is right about exercise helping...it can diffuse that nervous or angry energy. some women benefit from taking antidepressants for only one week per month to help with symptoms (a friend of mine used to take zoloft a week before her period, otherwise she was a self-confessed "bitch" to everyone). but meds are not for everyone.

for me, if i feel like crying, i acknowledge the fact i'm sad, and that it's the hormones that are doing it....then usually take a hot bath or watch a movie i've been wanting to see. in other words, deal and distract until the mood passes. or i write...some of my most interesting stories are created when in a weird PMS funk.

hmm...evening primrose oil also helps a little bit, as does chocolate in moderation. if possible, try to limit your stress during difficult times. although, i don;t have any advice for how to improve your hustle while PMS'ing.

I have noticed that my hustle improves when I ovulate... it is really weird... but guys seem more receptive to me during that time... to bad 1 very short week later I am acting like the mayor of crazy town.

It seems like I'm irresistable right 2 weeks before my period starts, then 3-4 days before, PMS hits and I have all the symptoms that you described in your first post. It sucks, because I can feel it coming on, I know what's going on, but I can't control it. Sometimes, it's better to just hibernate. But 2 weeks?? I don't envy you...

Have you ever heard of PMDD? It is a disorder related to PMS that sometimes can be helped w/ antidpressants. It's basically like extreme PMS.

I get like that but it's not on any kind of schedule because my hormones are so messed up I never know when I might have a period. So basically I just feel insane sometimes. I think it is definitely related but I'm not sure what to tell you about treatment. I'd try to talk to your OB about it. I started taking vitamin B Complex and it seems to help some but I still get really emotional.
