    Default New "rules" at work

At my club they have recently started cracking down on what the girls can wear. They want us to wear dresses, and outfits with stockings and gloves, rather than two-piece outfits and random pieces thrown together. Frankly, I don't think it's a big deal at all, but the girls are freaking out about it. And then tonight they were saying that they are going to start cracking down on things like fingernails and toenails being polished, makeup, hair, etc. It doesn't sound like they are asking much, just that the basics be done.

IMO, this is stuff that dancers should already be doing. I don't see why anyone is upset by it. Several girls were saying that they don't have time to do that stuff. Come on now, you don't have time to take 10 min. to polish your nails? I don't believe that for one minute.

I always have my nails and makeup done. I can't see a reason why a dancer wouldn't want to do these things to look nice. The club we work at is nice and it is one of the classier places in town, if management wants to try to make it more classy I can only see that as a good thing for everyone.

There is also a rumor that they are going to crack down on weight requirements. This is the only part of the whole thing that bothers me. I can see why they don't want to hire overweight girls, but for the most part everyone there is pretty toned up. There are a few that could stand to lose a few pounds, but they still seem to make money and do well with the customers. I don't know how management is going to handle that one. I think they'd be wise just to revamp their hiring practices rather than get critical about the girls who have already worked there for awhile.

Anyhoo, do any of you have rules like this at your club? And have any of your clubs gotten tough about weight requirements? I'm curious as to how common this sort of thing really is.

No, not any rules like that... BUt there is usually a general "attractiveness" limit at any club (some higher than others). Sounds like your club is trying to become more upscale. I'm sure the girls would hate ANY new rules. Ignore their bitching (They might be planning on raising house fee!)

we have stage outfit rules at my club, but that's about it these days.

apparently they used to get on the girls' cases about wieght, but now they're so desperate for dancers they'll keep and even hire anyone...(really, i mean Anyone)

I think rules like that are fucken GREAT. ALL clubs should have and enforce them. The overwhelming lack of these rules is a large part of the problem in this industry today. We are supposed to be entertainers. People don't pay the big bucks for entertainment from the kind of chic they can see or get on any street or in any bar - they pay the big bucks for entertainment from girls who are a cut above. IMO, girls who can't deal with having to actually try to look hot should NOT be in this business. Period. Good on that club for trying to bring back some fucken standards to this business!!!

    Period.

My club really doesn't have any outfit or nail rules--other than look nice. I like to keep my nails natural, and feel weird in nail polish. I also enjoy the freedom to wear what I like...and always get compliments on my outfits from customers. I think that as independent contractors we should be able to wear what makes us money.

I cant say I agree with that 100%. The clubs I've worked at where there were no "rules" as far as dress code, etc...were always the most fun AND the most bankable. The clubs that were super strict about wearing dresses/gowns, weight checks,etc...were usually fairly lame. Guys came to look at the eye candy, but rarely spent much on us. In comparison..the laid back clubs...customers were there to PARTY...having fun was priority and the cash flowed!

I agree you should look your best..but whether thats natural nails or acrylics, gowns or schoolgirl outfit...varies from girl to girl. And variety is what makes clubs fun.

i think it will be good for the club..most guys appreciate a classy looking woman who takes care of herself.. now the weight requirments.. that may be a little too much...

Most places here have tonnes of rules. Most are Long gowns before middnight etc. No fantasy or two peice until after then.

I think its good for girls to obv take pride in appearance hair, nails, make up etc.

Sometimes I feel I annoyed when I get told my dress is too revealing(sometimes feel this is just because of my bodyshape- ie if a girl with a smaller bust wore it they wouldnt complain) etc etc. Just always ask for a list of rules before working thesedays!!

All in all rules to make the clubs rep better, seem more classy and make girls make an effort with grooming are all good

I just wanted to add my two cents.

If a man wanted to see a girl with no make up, her hair/nails, etc not done, wearing a plain jane outfit, he would have stayed home.

It irritates me when I see girls (who are making damn good money) come to work looking like they're housewives. Guys don't want to see that and (usually) they pay good money to see an attractive, well groomed woman.

I wish my club had a variation of your clubs new rules. I feel like the club I work at is one of the nicer ones in Richmond, but when I started there, I noticed they had an overabundance of large girls working there. When I say large, I mean too big to suck their stomachs in. They've dwindled down but there's still two or three that should not be dancing.

I believe you should be able to wear what makes you money, but don't wear a black fishnet body stocking with a while eyelette and lace skirt with a bright orange and blue polka dot walmart bikini top. (no joke, saw this last night...) So tacky...

    Anyway, just my two cents.

I WISH my club would be a little stricter! Now they hire just about anything willing to show their boobs, which really kills the clientel. I do think that girls should be able to wear anything. It's nice to have variety (i.e. school girl, gown girl, bikini girl, lengerie girl.) It adds a lot of variety to the stage shows and guys can really get what they want with a selection like that.
I think weight requirement is dumb, they should just look at overall body. Some girls are naturally bigger but very athletic and may way 30 pounds more than a skinny girl who's the same height. This is not to be confused with fat, which probably shouldn't be in a club.

Those appearence and outfit rules seem really tame. Sure, girls are going to bitch about any changes that club makes, even if it is for the better.

I worked at clubs that had almost a "uniform" for the dancers. One of the rules is that at certain times during the shift all the dancers had to wear bikinis and at other times all the dancers had to wear long gowns. That was annoying, especially if I was making money and had to stop what I was doing to go change because it was 9:30pm.

It seems to me that your club is being very reasonable.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks those rules are no big deal. I really wouldn't be that put out unless they suddenly decided to make us cover our tattoos. That'd be a dealbreaker for me.

That was exactly my point. It is waaaaayy too easy for just anything with a twat (or maybe not even that) to walk in and start dancing these days. And that IS part of the problem with this industry.

I'm thinking, if they've got any sense at all, they'll only use the weight thing as an excuse to get rid of the fatties. I cannot imagine them weight-checking an athletic or muscular chic.

My club is also implementing some new rules, so the new gm says..... but, there are still girls wearing fishnet tops and thongs, walking around the club. I have my fingers crossed that this won't be allowed too much longer, b/c it kills my stage tips when I'm up w/ one of these girls. Much less people will pay for me to take off my OPAQUE dress when there are free fishnet "clothed" breasts right next to me.

Funny how these are the girls pushing the no contact rules....
