    Default going pro?

How did you decide this is what you wanted to do for a long while. Although I'm done with college, have a degree etc, I LOVE dancing, and feel like I want to make it a full time priority. I just dont' know how to decide. I don't want to forget the skills I've learned in college (academically) either/

Get a part time internship so you can focus on both?

I've done that for the last 2 yrs.

I am thinking that I want to spend more time making myself look good, getting a tan, working out, etc.

Totally. One of my favorite things about stripping was the double life I got to lead. I would leave my stuffy straight job, get all dressed up for the peep show, and got to play with a whole other side of myself. It was really fun. I loved the variety. Like lilithmorrigan said, do both.

It certainly won't hurt you to do those things, well, except the tanning. I kept dancing after I got my degree, and right now I am just dancing. The more I have worked at day jobs the more I realize how much I don't like them. lol.

You have your degree and you always will, even if you dance for ten years. There's no need to rush into getting a "real job."

I'm in the same boat. I have a degree and still dance -- actually started dancing more after college, cause I have more time. I still do my "real job" on a free-lance basis, but I'm even cutting down on that to be able to dance more. The money is just too good to pass up...especially considering how craptastically journalism pays, at least when you're starting out.

I do recommend finding a way to keep your non-dancing skills up, though. Internships, relevant volunteer opportunities, part-time jobs, or some such. I don't want to get stuck in the resume-gap trap.

If you really love dancing and have excellent financial discipline then go for it, but if you have one without the other it may not be worth it. I would set up a loose 10 year plan (I say loose because you'll be amazed at how the stripping industry can change in 10 years) and have a serious check in with your emotional and financial well being every six months to see if your plan is working.

Stripping can feel like you've found the golden ticket out of the mundane "real job" world when you're young but unless you're very wise you'll end up working in entry level jobs at 40, which would be much worse than doing it in your twenties. I know how much it sucks to start out in low paying jobs but the networking that comes from being there is a big part of working your way up the ladder. Do both now as much as you can, the energy for that will probably wane as you get older, and later you will find yourself with both a savings and a long term career.
