    Thumbs up Im giving up

Ok so Im giving up on loosing wieght on my own. Theres a gym kinda far from me (about 22min) where I was recommended a trainer by a girl I work with. At the 24hr I go to they are charging $570 for 6 sessions = $95 per session. *ouch* The one Im going to its $700 for 20 sessions = $35 per session. I wasnt looking for bargain basement priced but being gouged is just awful.

I already know he's great. The girl I work with is in amazing shape b/c of him. Plus, he already knows how to work with girls who have implants. I'll be sure to ask him about his certifications. What kind of questions should I ask him when I meet with him next week?

$35 is what I pay for my trainer but we work out in groups. $95 is way to much if you ask me unless you get a massage with it or something. I'm really frustrated lately because I can't seem to coordinate with my trainer. It used to be she was at the gym every day until late but now she seems to work at another gym most of the time and isn't ever at the one I go to and it's getting really frustrating. I have a schedule that is not set with work and I can't promise someobdy I can be there at 5 p.m. next Tuesday. I have to just take it day by day. I'm just thinking about joining a bigger gym and maybe taking classes or something. I dunno. I hope your guy is good. I'm totally frustrated with my body.

I charged $50 for my sessions. Don't let the price decide for you, though. Just because the one place charged $35 doesn't mean that they don't know anything and just because the other place charges $95 doesn't mean that they're good.

I would ask for a list of references (past and present) that you can contact.

    Any and all certifications.

    What the workout philosophy is.

What kind of workouts they prefer to have the client do. - Some trainers push weights really hard...some push cardio...some prefer more isometric movements (think pilates with equipment). So, it's important for you to know what your trainer likes before you go. If you are an Isometric type of person, it would suck to pay a weight-trainer or cardio-trainer because you will not be happy...nor will you be likely to enjoy the workouts and continue them.

How does the trainer keep track of your progress?

How often does the trainer change up the routine? --Joe's sister has been going to a trainer for over a month and in that entire time of going 3 days a week, the trainer has her doing the exact same thing at the exact same weight. She was pissed that she's not seeing results...and she won't if her trainer doesn't up the weight...change out the routine. With weights, you should be upping your weights by 2.5 - 5 lbs PER WEEK (on average).

I would have never thought of those last three. Thanks for being an extra brain. So, eventhough he may be great I still have to find out if he's right for me. I figure its time to take myself to the next level with my body.

well, I am starting with a new trainer on Friday. I've worked out with her once before and while the whole routine I did would have LOOKED easy to anyone watching, it was hard as hell! So anyway, maybe this will kick my body back in gear. Maybe my body was just getting bored with what my old trainer was having me do. I know I wasn't upping my weights by 2.5 - 5 lbs a week (at least I'm pretty certain). I haven't seen the results I wanted and I've had a trainer over a year. In fact, I've gained weight, and it's not all muscle.

^ This weight gain probably has something to do with your diet. It may be time to take a good look at what you are putting in your mouth.

A good personal trainer will be able to look at you and know when to up the weight, when to change the cardio routine...when to shake your whole workout up. Doing the same thing all the time is going to eventually work against you. The best way to change your body is to keep the workout changing.
