    Default baby powder in hair

Has anyone heard of putting baby powder on your roots if you dont wash your hair everyday? Just read about this for the first time. How well does this work? how much do you put on?

It works in a pinch, but there's actual dry shampoo you can buy from salons.

I gotta disagree here. But I've got really baby fine hair too. It just made me look gray and scraggly. haha

it works, but you need to use a LITTLE at a time... i actually cant stand smelling like baby powder, so i use baking soda-- which does the exact same thing, without the scent... only use a little bit at a time, and either comb it through or work it it very well.. i usually put it right on the roots and flip my head over and rub it in... my hair is really friggin thick, and if i wash blow dry and straighten it, you can bet your ass im not going to do it again the next day, so i use the baking soda for the second day

I do this.. I am kind of haphazard about it and put way too much on..but since I am blonde I can get away with that. I flip my hair around in sections so as to get all the roots..shake it out, brush it through.. sometimes I do it before bed so I don't have to work as hard at getting the excess out. My hair looks BETTER baby-powdered.. it seems to have a semi-straightening effect..hard to explain. OH...but be careful which baby powder you use!!! Johnson's baby powder is best, but my second (cheaper) choice is Walgreens brand. Some kinds use cornstarch and some use talc.. be sure to use the cornstarch kind.. talc makes my hair look and FEEL absolutely disgusting and I can't wait to get it out of my hair.. My hair is so long, I would pull it all out if I had to wash it all the time!!

I have really think hair and I use it right at the roots...I agree with viviana about the talc thing though, after I use the powder I can't get a brush through the roots to save my life. If I think of the name of that dry shampoo I had once, I'll post it. I'm positive it came from a salon though.

I went back to being a brunette, so I can't use my Burt's Bees baby powder on my scalp anymore. It really does help de-grease between shampoos.

Bumble and Bumble makes a spray on hair powder that comes in different "translucent colors" to blend with dark hair. If I pick one up I'll post a product review.

I do it, and it works great; it adds volume too.

My best tip (since most people put way too much on) is to use a blush brush to apply the poweder, rather than just shaking it onto your head.

If it shows too much (for instance, it will be much more obvious on brunettes) dip a hair bristle brush into water, and touch it JUST to the roots...that way it will nullify that graying effect,w ithout ruining your style

I've had blonde hair and brunette hair. On the blonde the baby powder is a quick and easy solution but on brunette hair it just makes it look dull and BLAH.

I read in a magazine to use baby powder on your roots if they'd grown out a little & you hadn't had time to dye again. I tried it once & it looked okay.

I use the spray shampoo once in a while to boost volume. Ricky's (a chain of outrageous beauty supply stores in NYC) sells "Pssst!" which is the actual name of the old-school stuff. Since I'm brunette, putting the powder one my head just looks weird even when combed through.

I've thought about getting the Bumble & Bumble spray, but I haven't quite been able to track it down.

Fyi, there's a brand of powder that comes in colours JUST for this. My hairdresser at work told me about it. Something like sixty bucks though. I need it to get the cigarette smell out of my hair midshift. Damn girls smoking in the dressing room.

That's probably the Bumble & Bumble stuff.

As much as it sucks, it seems most dancers just learn to accept the smell of cigarette smoke in their hair as part and parcel of the gig.

I found a salon that sells B&B so I bought the hair powder in brown. It's $38 for a four ounce aresol can of it. I'll probaly use it tomorrow, so I'll post a review then...

It's Sally Beauty Supply (no relation to Sally Hansen, actually) on steroids. They sell higher-end products than Sally (and some good cheaper brands too) plus toiletries like toothpaste and deodorant, clothes (funny t-shirts, hot pink galoshes, artsy jewelry), wigs, their own line of pro makeup and SEX TOYS! At Halloween they have a killer collection of Halloween costumes. I highly suggest everyone visiting NYC stops into one. I have three Ricky's within a four block radius of me! They are awesome.

Any place sell this stuff in Australia. Walking to my nearest Sally's would result in drowning.

I like dry clean only by sebastian. It's sort of like fabreze for your hair and leaves my hair not only smelling better but a bit less oily and more... refreshed. Ready to style again I guess. It's hard not sound like a commercial when you like a hair product...
