Default Obviously an ill-informed question but....

here goes anyway I get an undercurrent of dissatisfaction with the way most clubs are run from the women who work there. Why not pool your money and open a stripper friendly club(s)? I'm curious and know little of your business so flame or answer seriously as the mood strikes you

I would like nothing better than to haev a club that actually cared about the girls, and if I had the capital I would consider opening one of my own.....except that in this area...you dont open any strip club unless you have "connections"...aka..slient partners. And I dont need that headache.
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

It wouldn't be safe to do in my city, because of a lack of 'organization' (nudge nudge, get it?). I'll bet it's like that in a lot of places.

Just because the girls aren't happy doesn't mean that the customers are unhappy. Strippers don't necessarily make gobs of money, there is little incentive or education for savings, and dancers in general consider each other competition, not trustable business partners.

Combine all of this with the hassle of anti-sex city ordinances and political crusades by the religious right, its not really worth it for most.

Thanks very much On a similar note I was watching a Sopranos episode where the young stripper was impregnated and then murdered by one of the organization members. Of course he got away with it as she just seem to "disappear" which led me to wonder how mob controlled the industry is as a rule. I'm sorry to find that it would seem quite a bit.
A club about seventy miles from us was closed due to some legality problems for about six weeks or so and the owner remarked that he lost 100,000 bucks or so during the closure.

Assuming the strippers could come up with the hundreds of thousands of dollars it would to take to get started, they would also have to have the connections to finagle the liquor liscenses, keep the city powers placated and keep the cops off their asses. I only know two club owners but both are pretty shady.

The same reason every employee at Starbucks doesn't open her own franchise? Not everyone has the desire or ability to run her own business. Frequently we have other things we want to spend our money on (whether it be a house, tuition or drugs). And you don't just meet some girls at a bar and then sink that kind of money into a joint venture. And it is a very long term prospect - most of us aren't stellar at commitment.

^ just what I was thinking. There is a very big difference between being a dancer and being a business owner.

However, if I had the cash and the attention span - I would open a damn nice club.

If I'm not mistaken, the Lusty Lady in San Francisco has been run as a workers' cooperative for several years now. Admittedly, it's a peep show rather than a conventional strip club, but it's the performers who are in charge.

And to answer your question: the vast majority of strippers are in the business for the short haul and consequently don't have any incentive to invest the time and energy into starting their own business.

LOL I'd rather not disappear thank you! And this honesty is what makes this place such a joy Thanks to you all for the insight. Glad to hear there is at least one place operated for the benefit of those who do the actual work. Totally unamerican concept at work there

If I had the capital to invest and there wasn't a law in this city that bans all new strip clubs, I would open the best strip club ever! I dream about it... maybe some day.

Bwahahaha. Yeah exactly. I know what I'm good at. Prrrrr.

To put it seriously, the professionals among us are willing to improve at our jobs. Not out of altruism, but because it makes us more money. We just want the managers to improve at their jobs. Not out of altruism, but because it makes the business, and ultimately us, more money.
