    Default What kind of dog

(I dont' know if this should be in picture post...)

Anyways, my doggy is changing so much. When I got him he was 7.5 weeks old and 4lbs, and he looked exactly like a little baby black lab. I got him from an animal shelter, and now he doesn't look like a lab.....any suggestions what he may be?

He's frickin' cute, that's what he is!

My dog is of undeterminable origin, too. She looks just like a Rohdesian (spelling?) Ridgeback sans ridge and shrunk down to 45 lbs.

At this point my BF and I just make up breeds for her. Our current favorite is Sriracha: bred in northern China to herd pandas; illegal in the US.

    I know... we're nerds.

Aww, he's so cute. Can you post a pic of his full body?

What would be better is to observe his behaviors as he ages. His dominant personality traits are a good indicator of the "top notes" in his genes.

(My guess- Black Lab with Great Dane.)

i will take a full body shot and get it up shortly. 175?! does anyone want a new dog? jk I still love him. He's going to be a good gaurd dog.

When I got him the people and the shelter said that he looked like a lab and a spaniel of some sort because of (small) ears and feet, and that he would probably be around 30lbs full grown. Well he's a 30lb five month old.

Hahahaah! My dog looked like a pure Rottweiler puppy, so we were surprised when he grew to be a German Shepherd-shaped dog with Rott markings. He weighs 73 LBS at 7 years old.

I couldn't figure the ears but maybe great dane is what it is. The face does look like a lab though. That's one cute dog though whatever the breed is!

Ok he's like his mama and isn't very photogenic. He looks HUGE in pictures. I included the 3rd one (please excuse the mess) to put it in perspective next to his little tent/bed thing.

The last one is after I had him for about a month.

when he was really little he definitely looked pure lab. interestingly, he doesn't have big feet, so i doubt he'll grow to be a huge boy.

his body looks quite lab-ish still, but i think he has a very mixed past. he has a big square head like a mastiff or ridgey, elongated nose of a doberman or kelpie. it's possible he has a colorful family history so he may be a 4 or 5-way mix.

he reminds me of a dog i had once that was lab, dobe, kelpie, pitbull X -- she was a pretty girl. is this the homewrecker mentioned in the earlier post?

I guarantee he's part German Shepherd. Probably half shepherd, half lab. I've worked with hundreds of dogs, so I've developed a knack for spotting breeds. My last comment is this dog is going to need a lot of exercise!!!

He does look kind of Great Danish... but I doubt he'll make it to 175. I'd be surprised if he broke 80lbs.

He is definantly a mutt. Don't know of what though. I always like the mutts best as I think to much inbreeding is bad. Mutts are smarter too in my opinion. He is very cute

I second the feet theory. Since his paws aren't huge and he's almost 6 months, he probably won't get a lot taller. He may fill out and get a little broader. Pits do that. He does have a great look! I bet his personality is awesome too.

LOL!! That's funny. A friend has a dane/ridgeback mix and he's about 160, and one stocky dog. I didn't think anything with lab in it would be that big!

aww thanks, thank you to all of you who have said he's cute. I think he is, but I'm his mom. My mom says he's very ugly and has a face only his mother could love.

As far as his personality, he's a stinker. He's extremly smart, and will watch you do something and copy it (like open the door to dog crates, open cupboards in the kitchen, and to find out hiding spots for treats and toys), he uses his smarts against people. If he gets ticked, he'll give one big bark to get your attention, and then take a piss on the carpet (yes, he's potty trained) right in front of you like in your face. On the other hand he's extremely affectionate and wants nothing more than to lick you and get pets. He LOVES to cuddle with me. He knows I'm his owner/mother, and shows extra attention to me.

Also, yes this is the homewrecker mentioned in previous posts.
