i usually just put some kick ass music on and start dancing about..that will always get me in the mood!

I put on my gym shoes and start cleaining. That always gets the energy flowing. Also, if I am being REALLY lazy I will put on the Discovery HEALTH Channel and watch programs about obese people.

I often play DDR before I work out. It gets me moving around and is a workout in and of itself. After that I am ready for just about anything.

Don't ya love it when you're somewhere like a chocolate shop...and you see a really overweight person there too...and you have to forget your purchase, or at least put something back?

I remind myself of the diabeties and heart disease in my family. Also I try to remind myself what a blessing it is to be able to move freely.

I remind myself how much I pay for my gym membership every month.

I put pictures on my wall of hot abs from fitness magazines.
I remind myself that time is passing and Im not going to get it back. Its no time like the present.
I also trick myself thinking that if I just do 30min of cardio its better than nothing. I always ending up doing more workout when I get there.
Also, I put on my clothes and think just go there and see what happens. I usually end up doing a full workout session because it would be a waste of gas and time to drive back home.

Like Tiger I tell myself "well, if I'm that tired I'll just do 20min, better than nothing". Which gets me in the door, and then I do more anyway. Plus I remind myself that I always feel better after a workout.
I get ready, and get in the car. One I'm up and about it's easier to do. This technique also works for motivation to go to work.
I make a lot of plans to go out, and I'll hang that outfit up (like during the summer, i keep my bikini hanging on my door handle) so when I pass it I panic that if I'm lazy, I won't look as good in it
Agreed. Plus putting on my sneakers somehow gets me closer to getting out the door. In fact, I really ought to do that RIGHT NOW . . .Originally Posted by mollyzmoon

Works every time. I also find that if I really dread going to the gym, if I wear my gym clothes to bed and then head to the gym as soon as I wake up, it helps me at least get my workout in.

remind myself how horrible i will look if i gain weight. and i tell myslf that i will only do 30 minutes then keep telling myself " just 10 more minutes" several times. Also looking at skinnier people works for me too.
get a gym buddy (if you can); make a set schedule and promise to meet them there at said date and time...then you feel guilty if you blow them off
I don't go to the gym. If I'm really feeling blah about exercising, I do something else. I leave my money at home and go walk around the mall. Or take my dog to the park. Or clean my apartment. The rule is to do SOME kind of activity and keep your body active. I live in NYC, so I'll go for a long walk. Or do my laundry. Carrying those heavy loads up and down my stairs is more exercise than I want on certain days!
even dancing is exercise too.. from all the lap dances![]()
I'm not getting any younger. The more I slack now, the harder it will be to get my tight bod back. Also, you get out what you put in. I tell myself that when I'm already at the gym but feeling lazy.
