    Default Telling the parents...

of the boyfriend. My boyfriend's parents don't know I work but they know I used to work in a place where drunk men grabbed me and they didn't mind but were worried. Last week after buying all the groceries I joked with Michael about how he never cooks. His mum said, 'well he shouldn't have to since he makes all the money to support you'. I was infuriated. Now I really want to tell them ...cont.

The family is not the type to disown me for it... But they'd probably guilt trip me til I quit. But right now she thinks I'm a lazy girl taking advantage of her son and not working. I don't know if it's worth it.

Tell her she is wrong and it was incredibly rude to act like she knew what goes on behind closed doors. Tell her you didn't apreciate it.

I would tell her and I wouldn't stand for any guilt tripping or bad attitude either (-:

It would be fair enough for her to feel a bit pissed off if you were free loading off of her son, but then again what you and your boyfriend choose to do really isnt any of her buisness either. However mums are always going to worry about their kids and hope that they make sensible life choices and if the kids dont appear to be doing that... I do think though that in the long run honesty pays off.

You're right, Aussie. She definitely wouldn't be upset I danced, just sad for me. She probably wouldn't even guilt me unless I brought up something a customer said or did then she'd do the 'well if you weren't a stripper' stuff. So maybe if I tell her and then never bring it up again... She's talked about how sad she was for a friend's daughter becoming one... But it was more worry than judgementa

Telling them they dont know what goes on behind closed doors doesnt exactly seem like the best approach to me.

You've been dancing for some years, right? You might want to mention it in that context. If I were her, and I didn't think I knew any strippers, I might fear for you that you were going to turn into some other sort of person. Let her know that you've been dancing for a time and have never been anyone other than the person she knows, and that might soften her mistrust of the idea.

If you don't want to tell her the full truth...just say you cocktail waitress at a strip club, and happen to make excellent tips.

    OH HELLLL NOOOOOO!!!

That's the worst thing in the world to me.... someone calling me a freeloader. I'd tell her it's quite the opposite and that you are supporting her son more then he ever friggin supported you!!

    That is bs!

Well, will she guilt trip you in being a promo girl and/or working as a topless waitress for the agencies? I say twist the truth a little. I have learnt through my own parents and various other people......ignorance is bliss for them. They much rather me lie to them than tell them the truth. Since she knows they grope you in the SCs in Brisbane... don't mention it then... say you're a topless waitress.

People do tip the topless waitress... private parties and at pubs. Tell her you're doing that until your papers go through so that your boyfriend isn't totally supporting you.

Ah she probably wouldn't mind that. She didn't know I was a stripper PER SAY but I think she got the idea I did something where I was in a compromising situation with drunk men on a nightly basis. It also didn't help I lived with her and within two days I had a job from 7pm to 4am. Haaaa.... yeah. She's one of those LALALALAIFYOUDONTSAYITITSNOTREAL people so she probably know but refuses to believe until I tell her.

I'd say I do private waitressing, that's not so bad.
