    Default IRS job status?

I'm looking into reporting my 1st quarter earnings and am a little confused about what my industry or job status is as an independent contractor... am I considered a performing artist? Any help would be appreciated

You could put down Entertainer also.

I don't think putting down "exotic entertainer" would be a good idea. What if future employers did background checks, and this showed up that you were an "entertainer"? A lot of corporate employers do not like the idea of exotic dancing, and it would not look good for you. Entertainer is a general name for a job, but in this day and age most people would assume entertainer to be "exotic entertainer" so I do not like that idea. I'd probably put something like "freelance actress" or something like that. Something that is considered part of the performing arts, has similar expenses to that of exotic dancing, but does not have a sexual connotation to it. Because you never know when that "entertainer" title on your tax return may show up later.

Just a quick reminder ... you may need to provide your tax returns to a bank in the future if you are seeking a loan or buying a home. You don't want the banker to look at your tax return and see that you are an Exotic Dancer or some similar type of business. The person you would be talking to for the loan is primarily interested in how he or she is going to get repaid. In his mind ... right or wrong ... he or she is thinking what could go wrong: You could hurt youself and be unable to work, clubs are subject to the whims of local politicians and you may be out of a job, etc.
