    Default Appetite Suppressant??

Okay, so I'm on this weight loss kick. Trying to shed about 20 pounds, working out, eating right. It's a struggle. I want to stay at about 1200 calories a day. I have been keeping track of my calories (roughly) and including my snack at work (which I pack at home) I will be at about 1400 calories for the day. And that's if I don't cheat. I just finished dinner and I'm still STARVING!!

Is there a safe appetite suppressant that won't give me the jitters or keep me up all night. I'm a relatively high strung person naturally, so I don't need or want anything for my energy level.

I don't have the names of any myself, but you may look into what foods are most filling. I believe foods high in fiber are very filling, and of course proteins.

I know somedays I feel like I eat nothing, but still when I add it up the calories can just creep up there.

I hear the Dexatrim H20 stuff works well. Helps you fill up quicker.

I haven't tried it myself though.

Cotislim (which blocks cortisol) works well and my pharm tech guy swears by the natural herb Hoodia.

Hoodia is probably the most effective out now, another good one is TTA (tetradecylthioacetic acid)

You didn't say what the breakdown of your diet was. Increasing your protein intake appears to help suppress appetite, which is one of many I have always found higher protein diets superior:

TUESDAY, Sept. 5 (HealthDay News) -- Eating more protein can help
increase levels of a hunger-fighting hormone called peptide YY (PYY),
    British scientists report.

Previous research found that injections of PYY could reduce food
intake by a third in both normal-weight and obese people.

"We've now found that increasing the protein content of the diet
augments the body's own PYY, helping to reduce hunger and aid weight loss,"
study leader Rachel Batterham, of University College London, said in a
    prepared statement.

In research with obese and normal-weight people, Batterham and her
colleagues found that boosting the amount of protein in the diet stimulated
greater release of PYY in the body than either high-fat or high-carbohydrate
meals, resulting in a greater reduction of hunger.

Further investigation in mice found that high-protein diets increased
the rodents' PYY levels and reduced the number of calories they consumed.
Mice fed a high-protein diet also produced more PYY and gained less weight
than mice fed the usual amount of protein.

Batterham's team also found that genetically modified mice unable to
produce PYY ate more and became extremely obese. These mice were resistant
to the effects of a high-protein diet, which demonstrates a direct link
between protein and PYY, the scientists concluded.

When the genetically modified mice were treated with PYY, they lost
    weight.

"The findings show that PYY deficiency can cause obesity and that PYY
appears to mediate the beneficial effects of increased protein-content
diets," Batterham said. "One potential weight-loss strategy is therefore to
increase the satiating power of the diet and promote weight loss through the
addition of dietary protein -- harnessing our own satiety system."

She said much more research is needed before any particular
high-protein diet could be recommended. Batterham emphasized that any such
diet would not resemble the Atkins diet, which is high in both saturated fat
    and protein.

The findings were published in the September issue of Cell Metabolism.

I just wanted to say that the vast majority of people who are trying to lose weight is not because they are hungry all the time. They are engaging in "emotional" eating.

Save money, forget the appetite suppressant. Spend money on a good pen and notebook and start journaling. Stop trying to fix things by "manipulating" the effects and deal with the cause so you won't have the same problem in the future.

I'm definitely an emotional eater. I eat when I'm stressed. This is something that I'm fully aware of and it fluctuates, sometimes from day to day! The only way that I'm going to nix (or even just reduce it) is by taking care of the things that are at the root of the problem. I have a list of things that I had been ignoring that have just built up over the last couple of years that I have been whittling away at in the past 6 months...but it still is very overwhelming to me at times...so, I'm dealing with the problem(s), but I would like some short term help in the meantime!
