Default How to get a hustle on

Ok, I put this in the newbie area, even though I am an old dancer. But it's kind of a newbie question. I want to go back to dancing, but as I am reading this site, I realized what nerd I really am. I never really knew how to hustle in a club. I always did better in modeling studios (and I mean legit modeling studios, not those brothels) cause I can't hustle. Well I am in Houston now, and every studio is a brothel. So I want to go to a club. But all those years I danced in clubs, I hardly ever asked a man to dance. I was too shy. I just relied on my looks, as I was young, cute, and new. Who isn't at 18? I usually made 100-200 a night, and left alot of nights owing money. I did have one night where I made $600, but that was a fluke. I was always nervous to ask a guy to sit, and then I would sit there for too long, and then never ask to dance cause I felt silly. It sounds terrible, doesn't it? Perhaps I am exaggerating a bit. But I hate asking for dances, and I think I would do good in a club if I sharpen my hustle skills. Do you guys think that maybe I should take a DW seminar?

Ok i am new here. and i am seriously thinking about doing an amature night. And getting a job at a club. There is a club in my area hiring and i am probably going to go on my birthday with a friend of mine who has been a dancer before. I am nervous. I really would like for somone to kinda of be ike a mentor to me. As my friend is doing but someone to exchange e-mails with and help with stff wold be awsome. Casue she has only worked in small clubs and doesn't have a lot of information. Anyone that can help me on my feet or heels in this case would be awosme.

The first thing to look at is your vocabulary. When you're "hustling" you're selling. You're in sales, so we need to best identify what you are doing in the sales process that is working either for you or against you. So, this being said, what are you doing now that was different than before. I know you said you used to rely on your looks to make money but as most experienced dancers will tell you, the hottest looking dancer in a club is often not the highest money maker. So what are you doing now? What's your typical approach to a customer like? Are you actually doing anything when you're sitting with a customer to close the sale?

I was very, very painfullly shy when I started a year ago. My need and desire for money was the only reason I talked to guys at work at all at first. Compared to when I didn't hustle or sell at all, just asking a guy within a minute or so of talking to him if he wants a dance made my earnings much greater. Start small, tell yourself to approach guys--don't let yourself sit around ever. Just keep doing it even if the guys are rude or don't get dances. Then just smile and ask them if they want a dance. Compared to not sitting with guys at all it will help you make $$. Once you can do these 2 things comfortably, then take the DW seminar. It will help you alot--maybe not right away, its taken me 6 months from the seminar to implement it for me.

Well, to answer your question DW, I think I have had my head up my ass when I was a young dancer. I never had a problem with getting naked or dancing. I used to be a ballerina. But the men scared the hell out of me. I didn't know how to approach them, so I usually walked circles around the floor just waiting for an open invitation to sit. Then, since I was a total nerd in highschool, I had no idea how to hold a conversation. But the whole idea seemed weird to me anyway, to have meaningless chat and then all the sudden say, "are you gonna buy a dance or what?". I was always to nervous to pop the question. So I usually searched for one good sugar daddy who would buy several dances from me. Then I would pay my tipout with stage money. Sometimes I even asked to go back on stage cause I hated working the crowd. Sounds terrible, doesn't it? Maybe I am exaggerating. But I never really thought of it as a sales position. I really thought I was just a dancer that was supposed to be pretty and naked. And you are right, it is. And you are also right, I have seen some women who look like dogs laughing all the way to the bank. I need to learn to approach this with a sales attitude and understand the mentality of men. I think I am more mature now, and probably more able to do this than ever before. If I can get over this hump, maybe I can make better money than I did before.

Who says you have to ASK for dances. Honey you never ask. You TELL them they want dances. DUH!

You're not asking when you say, "I would LOVE to have a dance with you." You're not asking FOR a dance when you say, "So when are you having a dance with me?!" You're asking him when. Ha.

Assume he has a million dollars just to spend on you. Assume it like your life depended on it.

When you assume your sales, $600 in one night will be a fluke only because it was so bad!!

This quote probably BEST describes how MANY unexperienced dancers feel when working the floor nowadays. And it drives a lot of the money spending customers crazy because in this business we as dancers are SUPPOSED to approach the guys, they are not supposed to approach us. I think the DW class, even if you only get the home study one will help you out a lot.

Yes, I think the term "Dancer", "Stripper", or "Adult Entertainer" are misnomers. If someone told me that it was a sales position, I may have snapped to. I really thought I was just there to dance and men were supposed to pay me. Geez, how stupid!!!

To tell you the truth i thought i was the only grl. with you story! When i was 18 I worked in a club and made nothing the most i ever made was 80 dollars . I would sit @ the bar and just watch other females cash in, I use to hate it and they looked like ass compared to me. Another problem that I had was starting conversation with a guy what to say? I never knew untill today reading all thase girls articles that we are suppose to ask for a dance! better yet ask them mhen we are going to dance for them. Men never bought me drinks unless they offered is that how it is suppose to be or do we ask. Finding this site was the best thing that has happened to me, dude with out this site id be lost. so i only danced for less then a month but im going back U?

M- I'm telling you right now, if you get motivated enough to push yourself harder and learn how to make more money, then you will. The connection might not seem obvious, but I'm telling you, if you know what you need the money for you'll find a way to make the money. That's why self-improvement gurus always do those "goal-setting" activities. I can try to explain how it works- if you're brain sees a problem, it starts looking for a solution. You start noticing new information that helps you to "solve" the problem or get closer to your goal. You think about it more and more... and all the little details add up.

Maybe in the past you put more internal pressure on yourself to be liked and to be seen as "nice" or "cool." Your priority wasn't neccesarily making money. The best hustlers I've ever seen have had addictions... because when you GOTTA get that money, you find a way!

Does this help at all? I hope so, but I don't know. All I know is, it's true.

I could go on forever, but I forgot to mention: One of the BEST things you could do that will influence you is to make friends with the girls at your club that make the most money. You'll learn from them just by being around them... and you'll hold yourself to a higher standard when you start comparing yourself to more successful people.

I Have The Same Question And Also Danced At 19 And Didnt Even Have To Ask But Was Always Busy. I Talk To Everyone All Of The Time Anyway So Conversation Isnt My Problem. Its The Transition From Talking To Asking That Bothers Me. Also I Hear From My Dancer Friends That You Have To Hustle More Now As Opposed To 5 Years Ago. Thats Why I Am Taking Forever To Go Work. Also, What Club Are You Working , Or Going To Be Working At. My Girlfriends Work At Centerfolds But Discourage Me From Working There Even Though I Was Already Hired. I Have No Idea How To Hustle. I Just Either Watched For Men Making Eye Contact And Went Over, Started Talking , And Sat Down Or Had Someone Grab Me. I Want Opinions On Clubs Because None Sound Good Except Tmc But I Dont Want To Go There Until I Am More Confident.

I feel your pain- I didn't realize that sales were more apart of this job than stripping. I would hate to be a comissioned salesperson in ANY job...except this one. I like alot of things about dancing than to just give it up. So slowly but surely I'm getting better and trying to work at it.

I know how hard it is to go up to guys and approach them. I have no problem carrying on a conversation- just starting it is what bothers me the most. I tell myself "Jeez PV, they're only MEN"

I think most of the time you don't even have to have a drawn-out conversation with them, many of them probably know if they want a lapdance with you by the time you approach them.

I think there's a lot of truth to this, and yet having that conversation does a variety of things:

    1. It solidifies the sale. Some people just want to be sold.
    2. It creates rapport wihch leads to trust. It's that trust and rapport that allows you to sell several dances instead of just one.
    3. It helps to eliminate buyer's remourse. The worst thing that you could ever do is sell the hell out of a customer so much he regrets ever walking in the door and you'll never see him again.
