    Default I had a check-up yesterday...

I go in for my ultrasound next week. The doctor told me that it is extremely important to go in. I'm 27 weeks along and my belly is measuring at a little over 30. I think I went pale when he measured...I even made him measure me 2 more times. LOL I asked him if he was concerned about twins and he stated, "Well, I'm more concerned to see how big the baby is at this point." Baby seems to have a lot of room, so let's all just hope that my belly is wanting to give this baby lots of room to move and practice his back stroke.

I'll keep everyone updated...but last night I had a dream I had twins again...I'm not sure if its because its what's going to happen or if its because of my doctor appointment...

oh wow venus congrats. Have you had an ultrasound yet this pregnacy? If you did i would say the chance of twins is low but if you had not yet it could be. Keep us posted. Did you post your registrys yet?

Yay VG! Make sure you keep us updated, and also let me know if you're going to find out what the little peanut is beforehand. I'm going to send something, and I don't want to send pink if it's a boy. Heh.

Obscurity---She should be having the screening soon if she hasn't already. It's generally done between 27 and 29 weeks I think. I had mine done at 28 weeks this time around.

I've had all of my blood work done and I'm completely healthy. No problems anywhere. I have to do my glucose testing in about 2 weeks...so, yuck. But, I'm not worried about that.

I did have one ultrasound done...and you could only see one (small, small) baby. But, At that stage, there's plenty of "hiding" room.

I'll definitely keep you all updated. Rhi, I do not think I am going to find out...I kind of want to be surprised...and then Joe's side of the family is all saying its going to be a girl and they're all excited about the baby being a girl (they're weird cuz last time they insisted it was a boy and were excited about having a new "boy" ) So, I just don't want to say anything and deal with "disappointment" from them.

But, maybe I'll just let you guys know...I'll have to consider it. heh

i always measured big, but i grow em big! lol. 3" really isn't that much bigger...now if you were measureing at like 34", then yeah, that would be a big diff!

good luck at your u/s! I'm suprised you didn't have one yet? they are usually around 20 weeks. You are much more patient than me! haha

The times that the u/s tech had available, we were either gone or not available...otherwise, the times we could do it (Joe wanted to go) the tech was booked. So, then there was 2 weeks on a vacation and all...so...yeah, it's a little late. LOL

Thanks, sassy...I feel a little better. It's just weird cuz last month, I measured right where my "time" was...23" at 23 weeks. So, I've grown quite a bit since then.

That's around the time in my pregnancy when my belly "popped" out. She had a lot of wiggle room, that's all, and I didn't get all that much bigger throughout the rest of my pregnancy. She kinda just gradually "filled in the empty space"

haha, i remember with my first, i was in the hospital at 30 weeks for preterm labor. i had MANY ultrasounds, and they all kept saying "are you SURE of your dates, he's really big (measuring at about 6lbs already), cause IF you're not totally sure, we need to stop the "stopping" of the labor" lol I think with him I always measured anywhere from 2-4 weeks big.

yours could just be having a little growth spurt..nows the time when they start putting on the fat.

LOL, Mr. Chris!! I guess I'll have to wait and see. I don't care either way...just as long as the baby (ies) are healthy, that's all I care about.

Sassy, you said that you did all natural, vaginal with your big babies, right? Just need some reassurance there, is all. heh

I'll post my registries next week. Thanks, guys.

yup. not my first one, but last 2..and biggest babies ( 9lbs and 9.2 lbs, both with 14 3/4 inch heads) were all natural born in water at a waterbirth center with about 3 midwives. i wouldn't do it any other way.

you should really look into birthing hypnosis. pretty much it teaches you to put yourself into a "trance" like state. I didn't "officially" learn how to do it, but with my 3rd, i did it on my own. i had no idea who was in the room with me, nor what they were saying. every contraction i would put my face in the water and blow out bubbles with a deep moan...that's the key, use a deeep moan, it sounds very primal, but if you scream you start to loose control (i did that with my second), but with the deep moaning, it helped me stay focused.

don't let them keep you in a bead laying down, it only makes you focus on the pain. get a birth ball and rock on it while moaning during contrx....then you feel like you're actually doing something instead of just lying there and "taking it"...which really you are doing something, by sitting on a birth ball, legs apart, you're opening up your pelvis to allow the baby through and letting gravity work for you instead of against you like in a bed.

because i was in water, that naturally keeps gravity from working against you..i birthed the last 2 on my side and caught them both!

    highly recommended....

I actually used the Bradley Method and Reiki for Makayla's birth. There wasn't a whole lot I could do being hooked up to a pitocin drip, antibiotics and the fetal monitor. I walked around a lot and sat in the hot shower (back labor, wowie). I tried the birthing ball and found that I did not like it at all. But, it does teach how to "hypnotize" yourself to relaxation to allow your body to do what it needs without fighting it. I actually slept for about 30 minutes and woke up in time for transition. It was a great experience and I loved everything about it except for the fact that I did have to lie down to deliver (never again) and that the doctors and nurses kept bugging me ("How do you feel?" Me: "Like I'm going to push out a baby."). I'm looking forward to this birth.

This baby I'm going to do the same thing except I'm having the baby at home. I have a huge jacuzzi jet tub (3 person tub...don't ask me why, LOL) in the master bathroom, so I can use it for a water birth (the midwife will come and clean it real good while I'm laboring) and then the home birth doc will be there.

My friend was a lot bigger than they thought she should be and it turned it she was further along than they originally thought. I think they estimated her due date in February and she had the baby Dec. 17.

^ Yikes!! I know that I couldn't be due sooner simply because I miscarried (fully) New Years Eve, had a regular cycle and then conceived in late February/early March...the first u/s also showed a due date at December 8th...whereas by my calculations, baby would be due December 2. Soooooo...

oh, well i can tell you that a non-pitocin induced labor will DEFINATLY not be as painful (had that with my first too).

that's awesome that you're doing a home birth!! it makes a huge diff when you don't have doctors and nurses talking to you and poking you ever chance they get. my midwives just listened to my moans (from another room) and could tell how far i was! no one bugged me!

be sure to eat...protein is best, then follow up with a light salad..or even some chicken breast on a salad in early labor, the protein will help you in the long run. also make some yogurt/fruit popsicles (like a yogurt smoothie), the protein in the yogurt and sugars in the fruit will help, plus having something nice and cold to chew on is great.

i don't know why, but blowing bubbles in the water REALLY helped me..i just took a big deep breath and stuck my head in the water and blew and moaned...helped me focus and i could hear myself under the water.

^ Thanks!! I'll definitely do that!

I remember when I was induced with Makayla, the doctor told me that I could not eat until after I gave birth. I started laughing. I was induced at 5pm and hadn't eaten since breakfast that morning...at around 6:30am.

He came in to check on me and I was eating Mastacholli (sp?) with meat sauce, a big glass of water, garlic bread and a small sample of tiramisu. There was no way I would have made it through my labor on a completely empty stomach. LOL
