    Default Strong baby girl names...

Ive looked through a million books and have not really found anything I care for. My baby (due in November) has been through a lot already, and she pulled through. Shes meant to be in this world, shes strong. I want a name to go along with that. She is mixed, so I want something ethnic, but not ghetto. LOL something sweet but strong. Any ideas?

One of the names I liked was Azaia. It's pretty and unique.

There is a book I had that had over 55,000 names in it and many were 'unusual' names. '
It was callled-55,000 plus Baby Names: A great selection of popular and unusual names from around the world by Bruce Lansky.
He also has one with over 100,000 names. Just buy one used on amazon if you can, or go to the book store and look thru one. You're bound to find something you like out of that many names.

Most likely the name will just come to you when you're not looking, and when you find it you'll just know that's the one.

    Good Luck

I googled for strong baby names but cant find any for girls, only boys..., but beautiful on the other hand

I liked these - (keep in mind Ive got and English / Aussie accent, some names sound awful in different accents, lol)

Ayanna, meaning Beautiful. (Kiswahili) "Beautiful flower, wildflower."

Christabel, meaning Beautiful. (Latin, French) "Beautiful Christian."

Rana, meaning Beautiful. (Arabic) "Beautiful, eye-catching."

My mum was looking along simular lines when she name me. If you get stuck maybe you could do the same. My mum looked for strong women she admired at the time or thought would be a good role model (and obviously whos name didnt totally suck!) and she came up with Josephine from Little Women, Josephine Baker and Joanna Lumley. She didnt like the name Josephine, but liked Joanna so Im called Joanna.

My son ended up being named after a song me and his father liked - lucky it got played on the radio when he was 6 days old, he might still not have a name otherwise! :-D

I always wanted to name a daughter Valkyrie, based on the modern pop culture defination, female warrior, not so much based the old norse tradition. But I'm weird like that.

Kathrine or Joan could be good ones as well.

I absolutly refused to have my son share my name, my father's name, my grandfather's name. Funny we ended up naming him the most common french boy's name. Well I've been told every family of french desent has one, but none are like my JCB. Yes he got stuck with my shared name for his middle.

A names are also prone to become leaders in life.
I like Kahyra, Kyrah, Kirah, Kira, there are a ton of ways to spell it.
Kaden is kind of cute, and unisex.
Caley (or Kaley) means brave warrior.
    Adia means a gift
Aiko means "little loved one," in Japanese.
    Amaris means promised by God
Anaya means completely free in Sanskrit.
    Angelica/Angeline/Angelina means messenger of God
    Asia- resurrection in Greek
    Ayanna- beautiful flower in African
    Good luck!

I suggest you use the random name generator at www.behindthename.com
It has the different ethnicities to choose from and you can pinpoint exactly what it is that you want.

I love the name Ariella - it's Hebrew and it means "lion of G-d." A cuter little variation is Ariely. I'm considering one of those for my daughter when I have one, especially if she turns out to be a Leo like me!

Ahrie is a beautiful name, i'm sure you'll find another just as perfect for your new girl.

My favourite name at the moment is Tui - it's a native New Zealand bird, kinda like a mocking bird or nightingale.

this is kind of odd but I just watched this movie called Sankofa, and it is an ethnic movie with a lot of suffering of slaves trying to figure out how to move forward and just live.
    Sankofa means:
The concept of SANKOFA is derived from King Adinkera of the Akan people of West Afrika. SANKOFA is expressed in the Akan language as "se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenki."

Literally translated it means "it is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot".

"Sankofa" teaches us that we must go back to our roots in order to move forward. That is, we should reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us, so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward. Whatever we have lost, forgotten, forgone or been stripped of, can be reclaimed, revived, preserved and perpetuated.

Visually and symbolically "Sankofa" is expressed as a mythic bird that flies forward while looking backward with an egg (symbolizing the future) in its mouth.

Maybe you could tweak the name a bit, Sanofa, Sankoa, Sakofa....

Figure out the qualities that your daughter already has, and then figure out the qualities that you WANT your daughter to have. Perhaps have one area funneled into her first name and the other area funneled into her second name. So if you want Strength and Wisdom, work backwards to find those names. If you want Fearlessness and determination, find that.

I am unable to quote for some reason my computer doesnt like it )-:

Sankofa is my favorite symbol. I love the meaning behind it. There are a few variations of the symbol, but they all have the same basics. There are many other beautiful West African symbols - all with meanings attatched to them. Google and you should find (-:

I posted Sankofa as a symbol here if anyone wants to see since I cant put it in here...
