    Default Cymbalta

My doctor gave me me enough samples of Cymbalta (60mg) to last about three months. I decided not to use it. I went in and complained of all the horrible side effects of my current antidepressant, Effexor, and he talked me into trying this new one. I have since decided to go off all of them and go the natural route.

But now I've got all this medicine and my dr's office can't take them back. These drugs are EXPENSIVE as anyone who is on them knows. I don't want them to go to waste.

Is there anyone on this site who is ALREADY on Cymbalta and for whom the drug is working well that could use these meds?

No flaming, please. Hell hath no fury like a stripper with depression.

My only advice would be to do this via PM's considering that is illegal. I'm with you, though....I hate seeing things like that go to waste.

also, you could hold onto them for a little while in case the natural route doesn't work so good for you. I hope it does, but if it doesn't it'd be a bitch to wait for an appointment. Keep it, or at least keep a portion of it. Also, why not try to treat the side effects naturally rather than trying to treat the depression on your own?

I am not trying to do anything "on my own"...I'm just not using pharmaceuticals. I have a naturopath whom I trust. No offense to you, Fancygirl, but I really hate it that many people consider non-pharmaceutical/non-conventional western medicial solutions to be wildy erratic and inferior. That's how I got into this mess in the first place--by letting a doctor convince me that western medicine was the pinnacle of civilization.

I'm not sure how to treat side effects such as brain zaps, nightmares, and panic attacks naturally, but if anyone knows a way I'd be much, MUCH obliged...

(To answer the obvious question, why would I want to subject anyone else to this if it's so horrifically bad: This is only my experience. I'm sure the drug works adequately and with tolerable side effects for some folks. It's not my place to decide for them.)

I don't mean to be nasty, but I feel that the unsolicited advice was condescending.

oh- okay. I didn't know you had a natropath. That's cool. And just so you know, I'm totally down with alternative routes, it's just that when you see people going "off their meds" it takes awhile to find what's going to work. I'm sure you could find something that works, it just sucks because everyone is different so you have to work through a combination of alternative therapies to find what works for you. That's why it's cool that you've got someone who already knows what they're doing.

My apologies if I offended you. I know how you feel. I'm a proponent of several alternative medical practices and it sucks when people totally diss them. When you said you were going to treat your depression naturally, I just wasn't sure what that entailed.

Lotsa luck girl. I hope you find what works for you!

Ok...I guess we're on the same page. Again, I hope my post didn't seem nasty. I'm just really frustrated by the whole issue right now and misunderstood your position.

    Thanks for the well-wishes.

no worries. I know where you're coming from. I guess I was just exuding more of a "worried about anyone going off their meds" because whenever my friends have done it, it's been a not-so-great thing. But yeah, anything to get you away from brain zaps and panic attacks.

I think you should take it as a loss. I am not "flaming" you, but it is not only illegal but unethical and immoral to pass those drugs off to someone else. I understand your heart is in the right place, trying to save someone some money. But think about this first. Not only would it be moronic for anyone to accept pills from essentially a stranger, but at the same time, you would be sending these to someone YOU don't know. Second, keep in mind that these drugs are "prescribed" for certain reasons. Any kind of drug can cause different reactions and side effects and react differently from person to person. I know you mentioned sending them to someone that is already taking them...but really, how can you know that for sure?
