Default i need hair product help

so here's the deal... my hair is very curly, but i straighten it. it curls instantly if ANY moisture hits it (which happens a lot since i live in the humidity state). it also tends to look really flat and thin when straight. so my question is, anyone know of a product that adds volume and/or texture without making your hair curl up? i don't want to use a wax based product, since my hair is thin they always just look greasey on me. i live right by a sallys beauty supply, so anything they carry would be great, and obviously any widely found department store or drug store.

sallys probably has something that would work, but i'm tired of blindly buying shit, so i thought i'd ask you guys for help.

Go to an asiatown area and get a Japanese thermal reconstruction. Costs start at about $200 but it's worth every penny.

My hair is the opposite, really straight, but I had a hairdresser give me this stuff called "Guts" that is like a sort of foam you put in your hair that makes it a little thicker and not all goopy though. I'm trying to remember who makes it but they seem to sell it in a lot of salons.

I like using bumble and bumble blow dry spray. Really thickens. Then I go over ends with my flat iron. After my hair is done, I put just a little (not enough to weigh hair down) of biosilk silk therapy which totally helps in regards to the humidity.

Aquage makes a straightening hair gel that's awesome. I've used it to blow out extremely curly (black) hair. I also like the S Factor products from Tigi, very reseilent to humidity.

Also, how are you straightening? Do you blow dry with a round brush or flat iron?

No matter what products you use, flat ironing will never give you any fullness. Practice straightening your hair with a round brush and a blow dryer, it will give you the volume you want. Then flat iron mid shaft to ends if needed.

I reccomend the Marilyn Thermal Red brush for air forming. It's a solid ceramic base instead of just ceramic coated or metal (causes hot spots which can really damage) with natural boar and nylon bristles. It is the most effcient brush I've ever used. I use it on naturally straight hair that wants sex kitten volume as well as extremely curly or kinky hair that wants straightening without stiffness.

X Ion makes the best products.... straightners and hair products. Their straightners have some thermogenic something or other on them so they can heat to a higher degree without damaging your hair. (i recently shot a commercial with a rep for the company and she was showing me the crazy stuff X Ion can do) Anyhow, they have this product that acts as a barrier for moisture. You can put the product on your hair, flat iron it and moisture WILL NOT GET IN. NO frizzies, no nothing. She showed me on one of the other actress's hair. This girl had super curly hair. Anyhow, she used the product, straightened the hair and then took a spray bottle of water and misted it on the totally straight portion. Nothing. No wave, no curl, no frizz.

    Freakin' brilliant.

I heard that was the best thing, because your hair will stay straight during the any type of weather. They say Julia Roberts have a japanese thermal reconstruction. I was thinking about that but i am not so sure i want to let go of my curls. But I know this suppose to be the best!
