Actually, a lot of the early responses were negative, and maybe it was just because I had read the OP's post in BB but the original post wasn't being treated as a person coming to you guys with a problem. People responding to it were acting as if this was a person who WANTED to be violent, and I felt that their posts were totally ignoring the fact that Leila saw that she had a problem and was surprised by what happened.Originally Posted by seraya
And if people are allowed to give their opinions, the I'm just as equally able to offer my bit of advice to "shut up and consider what it would be like." My point was that I wanted people to be quiet for a second and think before responding because it was obvious that they weren't absorbing all the facts-- not that I didn't want them to respond at all, but I did want them to use their brains so that maybe this post wouldn't become negative and useless--which it was fast becoming.
You're welcome to your opinion that I was rude, but I also felt that everyone else was being rude-- we just have different ways of expressing that.
And to answer you're question about who "ya'all" was referring to:

I don't know if I'm just overly sensitive to the fact that it's the five year anniversary of 9/11 but NO ONE WAS PAYING ATTENTION TO THAT FACT IN RELATION TO THIS STORY! It doesn't give Leila a free pass to do whatever the hell she wants, but can I understand it? Yes. Do I think it's cool for people to make fun of her and say "I hope she presses charges" or "I hope she sues you"? No. They're welcome to their opinions, but I also view this website, first and foremost, as helping each other out and trying to understand each other, NOT ganging up and tearing someone apart no matter how badly they're trying to communicate their very serious problem. So, go play miss manners with those people Seraya FIRST and then I'll consider your advice to me.
