    Angry losing friends over stripping?

surely lots of you other custys and dancers have had this happen, but I just gotta vent cause i m SO SICK of narrow minded/uptite/e. disfunctional/bible thumping/hollier than thou, assholes! i have been involved in the industry for 2 years, since my hot, exotic, wife of 7 years, started stripping. I've alwys been super proud of her new career and never have been embarrassed that she dances. Hell, she's one of the top girls in her club now. I go often to watch her on stage and hustling guys. I know lots of the girls, and since we have a very open relationship I get to buy occasional lap dances from a few favorites.
Before, I never realized how prejustice people were against dancers and men who frequent SC's. Out of all my friends my age, only one hasn't gotten angry at me when I try to coax them into joining me @ the club. And women we know who find out my wife strips become silent enemies and influence their men to do the same. WTF is the problem? Are the men who act like going to a SC is so awful secretly afflicted w/ ED? or, are they just pussy whipped by their frigid dominering bitches? a real man friend is one that'll go have a beer and watch neked girls with ya!, I say. and a good wife is one that'll either come also and enjoy it or at least not get bent outa shape if her man does.
so.. what comments do others have about americans attitudes towards us custys.??

KLR, I'm not sure about this. I do know that everyone has their own little oddities about each vice. I have a good friend who is into practically every vice there is. Man drinks, smokes weed, goes to SCs, but will not, I mean will NOT, go to a casino with me (and I love casinos). I go to the casino, he starts getting holier than now, tries to talk me out of it. Go figure. This is not a bible thumping dude, here. I don't understand it, I just accept it, and don't ask him to come with me to casinos anymore (but we do go out drinking, etc!).

People can compartmentalize. The same people who can drink beers with you and play blackjack with you and smoke weed with you might not be able to accept that your wife dances. Conversely, the people that might think it's a-ok that your wife dances might not be able to go to casinos with you. Etc. etc.

It's hard to be introspective and thoughtful when the woman you love is involved (I have the same issue so I know). But try not to label people as "Bible thumpers" and "accepting." It's often more complex. See who is bugged by what and why, and you'll see what friends who can keep and want to keep.

    Good luck.

Siber is right-everyone has their own hang-ups. Some people are fine with stripping but against gambling, and vice versa.

KLR650, I would say if people stop being your friends because your wife is a stripper, they weren't really your friends to begin with. I have had people (non-dancer females who I thought were my friends) talk trash about me behind my back once I told them I got into dancing, and I realized they weren't really my true friends. My true friends don't have a problem with me dancing.

I'm confused though KLR-I assume you're a guy but your profile says you're female?

I've lost one or two friends and several potential friends because I strip, but nothing like what you describe. When I am around people that I know have a problem with what I do, I just don't bring up the subject. They know what I do, if they want to talk about it, they will ask.

I hope this isn't a case where your whole life revolves around your hobby. I've known people whose whole lives revolved around sports or computer games. People can tolerate those types because both sports and computer games are not a source of tension for folks. Sex is another matter. People are so scewed up over sexual hangups. Many people have a love/hate realtionship with thier own sexuality.

So, if you bring up stripping a lot when you are in their company, you may be causing your friends to feel supremely uncomfortable. So avoid the subject when youare around your friends, and see if htat makes things better.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

Most people who have a problem with this business don't understand it, and ignorance of something causes one to be uncomfortable.

Society has always made casual sex taboo, and many people are uncomfortable with sex. Even many customers who go to clubs have hangups and are not open about it. They are worried about what people will think about them if they go to clubs or associate with or date people in the business.

Have you ever noticed in life that people in similar lines of work tend to befriend each other more than those in different fields? You basically will have to cultivate friendships with new people who have things in common with you guys, and are somehow involved in the industry.
