Sad Omg crickets in my room!!!

I found a cricket like two days ago, smushed it, then yesterday found a couple and smushed 'em. Then today as I'm sitting here at my desk I feel a cricket crawl across my foot! Agh! Then I look up and there are two BABY crickets on the wall!! It's like it's straight out of a horror movie! I brought the vacuum in here and I've been sucking them up when I see them. How do I get rid of them??? Agh I hate them so much!

I'm going to do that in the morning, but right now I have to sleep here! There's no way I'll be able to sleep with the thought of a nest of cricket eggs in my room...

Sleep on the couch. In the future, get a cat. They tend to be all too happy to take care of most small moving critters.

If i can sleep after killing a spider in my room, a few chirpers wouldn't phase me. And i LOATH spiders. Beautifull, interesting, animals... But they need to be elsewhere.

Oh, how horrible. If I found one in my house, i think i would run out screaming and get a hotel room. same for roaches. Don't mind spiders for some reason though. I'm glad i have 3 cats.

3 cats = the reason you don't have bugs.

BTW... Crickets are harmless. I'd take them over roaches any day. Actually as freaked out over spiders as i am, i'd take Spiders over roaches. A buddy of mine, in college, took some month to month lease once at this hotel. He thought it would be like an apartment with no utilities. Swear to god you'd turn a light on and the darkness would scatter across the floor.

    It was horrific.

Once, speaking of roaches (I may have shared this story before, as i am fond of it, like my midget convention story) this guy Andy that my mom knew got a job where i worked (I was like 17). Andy used to wash dishes at my mom's work (she spent, like 20 years as a waitress) restaurant, and he wasn't much older than me. Like 5 years. I was a bus boy back in that antidiluvian era, and he seemed too cool to me so i hung out with him. This dude and a bartender named Denny (Total hippy, used to wear a wide brimmed hat with this fucking gigantic feather in it, dude had the best pot) lived in a house split-up into three apartments, and another person we both worked with, his name was John, lived there as well. Well, in the other apartment there was this freaky guy named Kurt.

Kurt was an oddball. He looked like, well, kinda like Howard Stern. Just that he was as queer as a six dollar bill. He was also a total crackhead and he picked up his guys in those places (I gotta give the man one thing, this was back in the heavy gang days, you gotta have balls of titanium to go into an early 90's crackhouse looking for manass). It wasn't like he was a monayman, he worked at Burger Boy for fuck's sake. It's a mystery to me how he managed to afford his habit.

Well, Kurt never cleaned his apartment. All of us used to hang out at that guy John's house, he was next door to this whacko. Andy and denny lived upstairs. Well John started getting roaches. When I asked Kurt what he was gonna do about the roaches he claimed that they were a decoration... figure that! Roaches! And before you figure i was basing anything off any preconcieved notions, John was gay as well. His house was immaculate! Lots of Pink Floyd and Metalica stuff around, no indications that he was gay, but he was. You'd never known it to look at the guy. But there started little dark thinks running like hell when the lights went on. This guy Scott (i think his name was scott) made a game of it while totally twisted on Mushrooms once. Um, it didn't go over well.

LOOK, all of the acid, peyote, mushrooms, and pot that went on in John's pad did not lend itself to a bunch of roaches crawling around.

    So...

We put black clothing on, bought ski masks and roach bombs... And we knocked on kurt's door. Second he opened it we sidearmed about 10 of them into his house... then ran.

Kurt called the cops. What did they say? "Well, your roaches are dead"

Kurt moved soon after. Maybe we were wrong in doing what we did, but shit! You want roaches decorating your walls you shouldn't live in an apartment. They will move to the next food source!

I hate hate hate roaches but I don't mind crickets. I second the "get a cat" suggestion. My indoor cats have always loved to find a cricket! I used to have two young female cats who had a field day with any poor cricket that got in the house; they would pull a leg off and watch it limp around, then pull off another leg and torture it some more, etc. About once a month during the summer we used to have to lift up the couch and vacuum all the dead crickets that escaped under there to die.

The cat I have now doesn't play with little bugs. He just kills them and eats them in about a second flat.

Landlord won't let me have a cat :-( I adore kitties, too... Anyway.. turns out there was a crack in the wall where the air conditioning tube goes outside.. I put duct tape over it, lol... So I sprayed with raid outside where I think they're coming from. Did I mention that my room isn't actually a room, but a converted garage? I think the problem is that I'm living in the garage, not in the house, lol. I read that putting duct tape sticky side up on the floor is good.. I guess when they walk across it, they get stuck.. hehehe...

The same powder that kills roaches will kill crickets. Buy the kind that comes in a spray can with a nozzle like a WD40 can. This way you can get the poison into crack under base boards and cupboards. Inside electrical outlets (remove outlet first with screwdriver). The bugs are attracted to a warm wet area like kitchen or bathroom cupboards to lay eggs. The nozzle will get the poison back into areas where they hide.
