    Default 23 and wrinkles

I just turned 23 and i have a deep wrinkle on my forehead....the rest of my face looks pretty young...i don't have crow's feet or anything....the thing is, i have never smoked...i used to go tanning a lot when i was younger but so did all of my friends and they don't have wrinkles yet....does anyone have any suggestions? like will microdermabrasian help? I know specialists (derms) are covered udner my insurance but i don't know if microdermabraisian would be cover?

No cosmetic procedure is covered through insurance.

Everyone is different- generally, wrinkles can take years to manifest, so it's very possible that you tanning is one of the causes (along with genetics).

For deep wrinkles, TCA peels can help, but deep lines are hard to get rid of. I would suggest line fillers and botox along with a peel.

You'd be surprised what can be covereed by insurance. My aunt had a labiaplasty (sp), which is considered cosmetic. (It's when your labia/lips are too big and are basically partially cut off).

First things first, go to a specialist for a consultation. One wrinkle is not really a big deal. I have 2 on my forehead (stress/worry wrinkles), but no one ever notices, except me. I'm 26 and I get carded for everything still.....sometimes even rated R movies! So I ty not to let my two wrinkles bother me. I've considered looking into Botox within the next few years, but I don't want to look 'emotionless'

Hell, I'm 21 and have wrinkles-and I don't tan. Some people are just predisposed to early wrinkles.

are you a very expressive person? lots of dramatic facial expressions? if you are, it wouldn't be surprising that you have those forehead lines already. i had them VERY young, but i don't care because they're so important for expressing yourself. (hence the reason why botox actresses suck).

the tanning certainly won't have helped your elasticity. either way, they're not as much of a problem as crows feet etc. bangs or a side-swept fringe can help. (that's what goldie hawn has been doing her whole 'mature' career).

People with dry skin get wrinkles earlier. Your tanning buddies might just have naturally more lubricated skin.

The forehead can take a lot...try some peels.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. I hear that Vaseline actually makes a great moisturizer... I know a woman with the most amazing skin; in the face, she looks about 16. I found out that she is almost 45. She's been rubbing Vaseline into her face (especially around her eyes) since she was about 20, every night before going to sleep. I try to remember to do that myself but I don't always remember.

It could be the tanning, your genes, or secondhand smoke from work (if people smoke there). The best thing is to prevent further damage by keeping your skin moist and elastic.

    OOOOF...

Do NOT use vaseline near your eyes. It can cause tear duct blockages and also plug eyelash follicles- making the eyelashes fall out. This doesn't happen to everyone, but my derm warns people not to use vaseline around the face, because she's seen it in enough people.

My favorite oil is either camellia, rosehip, jojoba or refine jojoba depending on the skin type. I prefer to use plant oils over vaseline- you don't have clog issues, and many have beneficial fatty acids that petroleum jelly, an inert substance, does not.

well i haven't been stripping for that long....but when i was younger i was really into the bar scene which prob didn't help with my wrinkles....i have really good insurance (PPO) and i know that specialists are covered so I think I would just have to pay the co-pay each time....has anyone ever had microdermabrasian? It's supposed to help with lines and scars ( I have both ).

change cleansers if your skin is dry. If you wear a lot of makeup, it's important to remove them completely. Cetaphil is not very good at removing heavy makeup.

contact your insurance, but I have never heard of one that covers any purely cosmetic procedures.
Covering specialists like dermatologist is different from covering cosmetic procedures. Hell, if your insurance covers cosmetic procedures like microdermabrasion, let me know. They may cover the office visit but not the procedure.

Microdermabrasion can only help if the lines are superficial, but not deep ones. I've seen much better results with peels over microdermabrasion- the exception being if you combine microderm with IPL or photofacials.

Labiaplasty can be covered because women can and do get chafing and frequent bad irritation/infection down there from the labia being too large. Breast reduction can be covered through insurance if you have back/neck/physical pain. Breast augmentation is sometimes covered for women who have lost breasts through cancer or other deformities. Some cosmetic procedures are covered because they can have medical causes attached to them. Acne used to be covered, but most insurance dropped coverage of acne and relegated it to "cosmetic" and hence, not covered.

Mine were genetic. I've always the little crinkles on my forehead that appear when I raise my brows and in the last couple of years I noticed the lines/wrinkles staying even when I'm not raising my brows. It really started to bother me and no amount of cream was gonna fix it. So I got my first round of botox in April and I loved it! Worked like a charm. I'm now hooked and make it part of me beauty routine (every 3-4 months or so).

    ETA: I'm 23

    Botox, if you're serious.

As a preventative meaure, take vitamins C, E, and folic acid. These are antioxidants that are good for your skin, and women of child-bearing age should be taking these anyway. Drink a lot of water too. Don't smoke and stay out of the sun, and use a good moisturizer with sunscreen. My face has a line or two but at almost 33 I'm told I still appear to be 22-25. Exercise does wonders for your skin too.

I tried botox once, and it really didn't make my wrinkle go away. Never again. But it does help a lot of other people. So if you want it, go for it.
