Default err...am I going to be fired?

i guess the newbie board is the place for this...I've been dancing three months now, and i've never not showed up for a scheduled shift before, but I'm going to have to miss my day shift on Saturday.

They say that when you miss a scheduled shift, you're fined. OK, I can deal with that. But I was browsing through the "general" forum and saw a post from awhile back, where a dancer who worked at my club got fired for missing a shift! I'm not sure if there was more to the story there or not, but...wtf? I'd always thought that dancers missed shifts fairly regularly and just paid fines for it and that was that.

Am I seriously running the risk of getting fired if I don't show up on Saturday? Like I said, I've never missed a shift yet, and I'm basically an under-the-radar girl at work--I'm there and I make decent money, I'm not a top earner by any stretch, but I don't cause any drama...and the owner seems to like me, but who knows? I know there are other clubs out there, but I really like where I work and don't want to get fired.

Treat it like a "regular" job, and call ahead of time?

Call them and make sure they know you're missing work for a damn good reason. A lot of girls have other jobs besides stripping.

If you ask for that day off, you probably won't get fined.

Call them. Say, "Something's come up, and I can't make it in on Saturday" -- (rather than phrasing it as a question, which invites them to say "No, bitch! Work it!)

They will then let you know whether you'll be fined or not, but I don't imagine you'll be fired if you call ahead.

Picaresque: You're in Baltimore too? So am I What's Hustler like? I've been recommended before, but I heard it's a LOT like Scores, and I hated it at Scores Baltimore.

    meimei:

i really like it there feel free to email me if you have any specific questions about how they run things, etc. ([email protected]). although...things are baout to get more strict since they're opening a new VIP club upstairs...they're making new rules about costumes, music, etc. Hopefully the changes will end up being positive, because right now it's a really fun place to work, and the money is pretty great.

i suspect that my days of wearing pirate-flag knee socks, opera gloves, mardi gras beads, Geoff hats and pigtails at work are about to end, at least temporarily while they promote the whole VIP thing and new, more "upscale" costume rules...blah. but if these new ideas are going to make us more money, then screw it--i can wear pirate socks outside the club just as well apparently they're also going to actually start enforcing behavior-related rules that until now everyone just ignored. which will be great if it helps to rein in extras dancers, but bad if it results in people getting fined left and right for unknowingly doing small things wrong or takes all the spirit out of the club.

things are also much, much, much better since the former head DJ left. the DJs that are here now are AWESOME.

The best part is...minimal cattiness, minimal drama. there are always exceptions, but for the most part, dancers here truly do get along and like each other. People leave their stuff out on the counters in the dressing room all the time, and it doesn't get stolen. The bartenders and waitresses also kick ass and are wonderful.

so email me if you have any questions, or if you want to know a month down the road how the changes affected the club and whether it's still a good place to be. but right now, yeah, it's great

well, i talked to the manager, and told him why I needed off...i think things are ok there. He said if there's a shift that's short on scheduled girls next week, i can offer to work that shift and he'll waive the fee (or i can just pay it, but either way I won't get fired or anything. Actually, he laughed at me when I mentioned it. :p)

You just tell them ahead of time that you need the day off. Offer to switch days or whatever. You won't get fired. I've worked there before - that club needs you more than you need them. They like to try and intimidate girls into submission - threats of fines / firings, random bullshit fines You have to be a little assertive with them in order to make it a tolerable place to work. They like young newbies like you though, who haven't worked anywhere else and don't know that you don't have to put up with their shit Strippers don't have schedules!!! Sheesh.
