    Default Will you teach me?

    Hey guys,

    ( o ) ( o )

    Did that get your attention?

I am a dancer in Vegas so most of our clientele is from out of state, or even another country. One of the first things I ask a guy when I sit down is, "where are you from?" but I haven't been to many places, so when someone says, "I'm from Pittsburg, or I'm from Houston," I don't know how to respond. If I know the sports team for their city, I might say (for Chicago) "oh- are you a cubs fan or a sox fan?" Otherwise I just nod and say something stupid like "that's cool" and then try to change the subject.

Especially when someone says they are from a certain part of New York or a certain part of California, I don't know the different areas... what's unique about Manhatten vs Long Island vs the Bronx? Or Riverside vs Oakland, LA vs Orange County? Would some of you guys please help me out by telling me where you're from and something interesting to guys about your city or state?

The more info, the better, so I can relate to guys in my club and make them feel comfortable by talking about something they are familiar with...

    Spank you!!!

I havent been to many places either,i usually play the dumb stripper at work so i will ask them silly questions, like what the weathers like where their from, or my favorite is to question guys about stripclubs in there home state.even if the questions arent the best ,guys love talking about themselves and it keeps the conversation on a light side until you ask for the dance. I also really like hearing about different clubs.

I just say, wow, whats it like there? Or what do you do for fun out there? Whats the best place for someone to visit there? Guys like talking about themselves, but ask them questions that will make them happy to think about. Like if they say they HATE living there, then ask where there favorite vacation spot is. Dont dwell on things that make them unhappy, you want to keep the conversation light, positive, and happy. People frmo other countries are great to talk to. I just tell them, Im sorry, but Im really niave when it comes to other countries, but it is so interesting to hear about, what is your culture like?

I once met a man from Afganistan. He was to embarassed to admit that he was from there, because a lot of people act uncomfortable around people from the Middle East. When he finally told me where he was from and I said thats cool, Im really interested to hear what its like, he was very impressed that I was geuinly interested to hear about his culture,

Just say 'wow I wish I could travel some more.. i've always wanted to go to <insert city here> whats it like there?' It leads to great convo and eventually gets you some dances

Go the extra mile, don't just ask them what it's like where they live but try asking them what the most romantic area is where they, live or the best food, etc. This way you get their brain thinking about pleasant, happy, even sexual things. Any questions that you can think of regarding those kinds of emotions are going to get your client/customer in a good mood and comfortable.

I have travelled alot and might remark something about the place, but no need. If I don't know anything about a place I'll just ask how they like it here or what brings them here. Better to let them talk about themselves then you talk too much...

Well, if you are completely clueless about the area, just pick a random positive stereotype and apply it to people from that place and comment on it. Like, "Oh, You're from Milwaukee. Wow, I've always hear that people from Milwaukee are very polite." or "Columbus? I've never been there but everyone I've met from there sure does know how to party!" Even if the dude disagrees ("Naw. People from Milwaukee are a bunch of pricks.") it will still advance the conversation.

Consider also the option of taking up travel as a hobby. I have been all over this great USofA and I can tell you that the variety of people, places and things can, at times, take your breath away. It bears seeing.

"See, believe it or not (and I don't care whether you do), it's never been about the sex. I get sex at home, anytime, and we like it, and it's good for both of us. No, my stripclub experience has been about acceptance, and affirmation, and desirability...There have been some women who have a personality that just clicks with mine, and in the faux-sex atmosphere of the club, it's a mix that is completely seductive." - Jay Zeno

"Is there good clubs in X?"
"I hear its Y in X, is it?"
    "Want to buy a dance?"

You must have been a salesperson at some point in your life. That's a perfect setup.

Washington, D.C. It's just like high school, except with nuclear weapons.

If you want to establish a real connection, be attentive, smile a lot, and make the other person laugh and feel at ease. Men actually know something about this, as hard as that is to believe. Gentlemen, for example, learn early on that their job is to make everybody around them feel more comfortable in their presence.

Dancers have a huge natural physical advantage at this, mostly because guys' entire personalities, wallets and continued blood flow to the brain are completely hard-wired to their optic nerves. But I do understand that you have to distinguish yourself from all the other girls.

You're right that it's easier to do if you know something about the home town. But most people are in Vegas to forget about their home town, or at least to escape from it for a while.

If you've traveled a lot, it's an easy opening for sharing an experience, but if not, go in other directions: sports, music, TV, movies or working out. Or discussing whether Tom Cruise could possibly get any more psycho, how the hell did Jon Stewart not end up on the Tonight Show, have you checked out Reno 911 or thank God they've finally approved the morning-after pill. Or more personally: the cologne, the tie, the eyes, the pecs; you know the drill.

Atlanta ga. Like a traffic jam... only slower.

You could go the other direction and point out all the cool things in Vegas, you know ask them if they have ridden any of the rides at the top of Stratosphere.... then tell them you are a hell of a lot more fun for the same price!!!!

Not a salesperson, just an entertainer

Do not make stuff up. You will lose some customers. They may call BS and not trust you. Also, don't ask close ended questions.

Where are you from? (close ended)

What brings you in here tonight? (open ended)

hmm... MD has nothing. DC... it's got all the museums. There's the national Zoo.... it has animals... they feed the sea lions at 11:30.

Some cool bars. The Palace or Wonders just opened up recently. It has sideshow/freakshow stuff as well as live attractions such as sword swallowers, glass eaters, fire breathers, burlesque shows etc. It's small but totally rad. Next door to that is The Red and The Black, nice little hole in the wall with live music or DJ's most nights... The 9:30 Club and The Black Cat are two of the larger venues for life music. The Black cat is a bar as well. They also have themed dance nights and a really good food selection if you're vegan. If he seems like he's into goth and industrial music you could ask if he went to Alchemy before it shut down last year. I know a it was really big for the people around here who are either goth or a raver. in the same vein of goth and whatnot is Bound which is a fetish night where everyone comes dressed in fetish garb - only it's gotten way lame and now people either dont really dress up or they just wear their under wear. I saw a guy wearing a thong doing this really funny dance - he looked like he was trying to imitate fire but it came off as silly overweight balding middle age man in nothing but a thong and boots on the dance floor.

Chinatown is.. well China town. You can use one of my stories if you want... my friend went into this little shop in chinatown and asked if they sold bonsai trees, his had died, and they flipped out at him telling him that bonsai is Japanese not Chinese!! You could say the sushi at Wok'n'Roll was really good... The Convention Center is right up the street from Chinatown. MCI center is there too. If a guy mentions a sports team played there...

The waterfront is really pretty and very under appreciated... if the guy has a boat he might like it... I'm wracking my brain now... The driving sucks. DC drivers do not know how to drive, they say it's on a grid, but it's more like two grids one that goes vertically and horizontally thats the number streets and letter streets, and then another grid that goes diagonally, those are the state streets and all other streets... and of course the one way streets just mess it all up. but once you get to know it a little you can get anywhere. Du Pont Circle is known for being gay. Some people call it the fruit loop. that's all I can think of... I hope it helped!! I would venture to say that it is a little bit different than High School... unless you went to high school there - in which case, yeah the above is high school for me...
