    Default a question about water

    okay, i'm confused.

i've got a big photo shoot tomorrow. i've talked to a few people about trying to look as thin as possible tomorrow.

i've got some people telling me to drink HEAPS of water to flush it all out and flatten my stomach.

then i've got everyone else telling me to dehydrate myself and not have any water at all because that will flatten my stomach.

i have no idea what i should do. drink no water, or drink heaps of water. i just want my stomach to look as flat as possible (obviously i won't be eating tomorrow)

Well when people do body building competitions they dehydrate themselves. Its really not a smart idea. But yea it will make your stomache flat. If you get thirsty just suck on an icecube.

it's not healthy but it looks awesome. either stop drinking any fluids from 6pm the day before OR drink booze during the evening before (like 4 glasses of wine). either way you'll dehydrate.

it's a double-edged sword. makes your tummy/body look awesome but it can encourage an old looking face (even if you're a young'un)

if it's primarily a body shoot, then deplete your fluids if you can hack it. to my mind, it's just the last little bit to highlight the work you've already done exercise-wise.

if you can't be arsed, then just rely on photoshop like the rest of the world. hehe.

well, the only fluids i've had all day is when i've had half a mouthful of water to take my diet pills lol. i won't drink anything else tonight or tomorrow so hopefully it works.

if my face looks funny, makeup will fix that lol.

Don't drink heaps of water( you will hold on to it), but a glass or two won't hurt you or even really make a difference.

Actually had a conversation yesterday on a quickslim at-home bodywrap. Go out and buy some Preparation-H (hemoroid cream) and cellaphane. Rub cream all over body and wrap yourself up like a mummy with the plastic tightly but where you can still move. You may need a buddy to help. Put on a sweat suit so nobody looks at you funny when you go outside. Hit the gym and do cardio for as long as you can go (minimum of an hour preferably two). You will sweat buckets and lose a dress size or two. It's all fluid so don't think it won't come back but you'll look great for your photo shoot! Bodybuilders and Fitness Competitors do this before competitions.

Keep in mind though that flying itself will cause you to take on some water again. That's why bodybuilders often fly in a few days up to a week ahead of a competition.

A little extreme but I will keep that in mind before a shoot.

When I was at wrestling competitions, people would jog around in snowsuits. We would also fast like crazy and do loads of cardio if there was any doubt we'd make the weigh-in. Like basically you're monkey-f*cked if you bungle the weigh-in. So yeah, sweat sweat sweat, don't drink, all that horrible stuff, and voila! Water weight presto-gone-o. Plus you look forward to a lovely meal after the photoshoot is done. I don't even think doing this insanity stuff is that bad once in a while. The body is made to handle extremes every now and then.

But the 'super-load' on water rule isn't completely wrong- it definitely doesn't work in the short term, but in the long term, the more water you drink, the less the body 'hangs on to it', so to speak, and you don't bloat up as much as you would otherwise. That's why tons of water is so good for weight loss (and excess sodium is kinda bad).

    so the upshot is...

wrap yourself in cling-wrap AND a snow suit then go for a run while popping your water pills and washing it down with a good quart of scotch. done!

    good luck with the shoot.

hahahah, might as well throw some laxatives in there for good measure!

and thanks. i'm leaving in about 2 hours. i'm excited, but i don't really care anymore. i stressed out sooo much about losing weight and toning up, so i basically starved myself for a week and was doing at least an hour cardio a day. i lost heaps of weight, then came down with the worst cold ever, and cos i was sick i couldn't work out at all and started eating again to get better. i gained most of the weight back pretty quickly. so now i'm just like, "whatevaaa" about the whole thing lol. it's still gonna be fun, i still get to be in a magazine, so i'm happy.
