    Default brazilian wax and question

so normally i just shave my pussy, but i finally got fed up with all of the bumps and ingrown hairs (that i had to cover up with makeup!), and decided to get a wax. it went very well, but she told me i would have to wait until it got to a certain length to wax it again...i'm thinking she said a 1/4 inch or something-- well, this sort of sucks. i want to be hairless all the time. do you think now that i've been waxed, i could just shave the stubble when it comes, since it's supposed to grow in finer? or will i have my old problems again? what do you gals do to stay hairless down there?
sorry if this is a stupid question!

Yea, its hard to work in a nude club and wax. My waxer says that I shouldn't shave in between waxings, that the hair will grow out finer if I don't shave, but I wonder if she says that so I get waxed more. I just wax 3-4 times a year whenever I have about a week off and shave in between. It helps with the razor burn.

    jeez, can't fall asleep.

If you can afford it, go for laser hair removal. At some places, they can laser the entire region...i mean, even around your butt-hole if you want! There's numbing cream you can use...so don't worry about pain.
lasering has been the best thing i've ever done. it takes a total of around 6 sessions to be totally hair-free, but i couldn't put up with the ingrown hairs and infections i was getting...plus i had a little bit of a "happy trail" leading down to my bellybutton---very subtle, but still noticable up close, and when i'd tweeze, when it'd grow out, i'd get some ingrown hair there too...it looked gross! and explaining it to a boyfriend that you have a happy trail you were trying to remove but you get some ingrowns...not a glamorous thing to explain!
waxing...i've tried it to take care of the ingrown hair problem. didn't work for me. i tried exfoliating...every night...exfoliant creams...etc etc. nothing worked. better off to save up and spend it on laser. some places have special deal packages or installment plans for you to spread the costs over.
be careful where you get the laser procedure done. some places they use crappy lasers, at the wrong power strength...so you might end up needing many many more treatments... make sure you go to a professional place...like even a dermatologist's office...and go in for the consultation. at the right place, they shoudl do tests to see what's the right strength of laser (you'll almost see the hair looking chalky and black...with some lasers...at another place I got my 4th plus treatment, they used a different laser with which it took a couple weeks for me to notice the hair fall out...i guess it wasn't as strong as a laser...i was worried since i didn't notice much of a change until after 2 weeks...not all lasers are created equal?). good luck on finding a solution

It takes several waxings over time to reap the benefits of your hair growing out more fine.

Girl, you are preaching the story of my hair-removing life. Some of us were just meant to have problem crotches. Until that is, the laser came along. A long time ago I went to one session and it hurt so bad and I was so red i never went back. But now I'm ready again. I'm so tired of razor burn and ingrown hairs. Waxing is not an option b/c I don't have the time it takes to wait for 1/4 inch to grow out. And even then it's only a temporary fix. Also, I don't want to have to keep going through the embarassment of having a strange lady ripping hair off my punanni .. I'd rather go 6 times and be done with it.

you guys are reallllly encouraging me to go for the laser. i've been thinking about it for some time. to finally be rid of the hair would be great. i guess i'm just sort of afraid that it won't work or something (i.e. it grows back later) and i'll have wasted my money.
i'm gonna look into this though.

Well, at a place I went too, which was expensive...I shouldn't have settled right away...I was too eager to get it done with,...this was the second place I did laser at, it's around 2k for up to 12 treatments...so they'll take care of the entire brazillian area. However, the first place i went to when I got my first 3 treatments, it cost 700 for three treatments, however this area only included my navel area and the sides of the panty line...so it was more of a "bikini" job than a brazilian job...
Just shop around...look up reviews on ___"your city".citysearch.com the laser I had initially, and seemed to "explode" the hairs right out right after the treatment, and didn't take a couple weeks for the hair to fall out, was using a "diode" laser...they do use different lasers depending on your hair color, etc...(and remember, I don't think the laser will work on blonde or red hair...just check about this)... hopefully this other place i'm going to...hopefully there will be lasting results, you know? ...since i didn't see the same instant "burnt hair" look as I had the first place i ever did laser at...different laser, yes, but i'm still a little skeptical...but hey, there's the guarantee.

Two words on razor bumps and ingrown hairs:

    Tend Skin!!!!!!!!!!!

You can get it at most beauty supply stores or Sephora.

I had two bad ingrown hairs and always a bit of rash on my bikini line and it like, dissolved them or something. I never have shaving problems anymore.

^ Yes, tend skin is a good product, I agree, however, I still had problems.

I'm looking at getting lasered here in London, found a place that looks really good! This is on my to do list for next month, consultation. My ingrowns get so bad that it's difficult to see where the normal skin is, whole thing is so red and unhappy!

Let you know how it goes xx

As an esthetician, who has spent numerous hours waxing the brazilian, I can tell you that it is not an option for dancers. Yes, you have to wait for the hair to grow back out. So how are you supposed to work in between? And shaving is a no-no between waxing. It promotes ingrowns and frankly, you still have to let the hair grow to it's length to wax it. So, like I said, what do you do in the meantime?

    Dancers need to shave it.

I don't agree with laser. I personally tried it. It's expensive, painful, and all the hair came back.

    Shave it.

    My professional opinion.

mblank, maybe all the hair came back because they used the wrong strength of laser on you...that does happen...improperly trained hair technicians (or ones that want you to come back again to mooch more money off of you)......
or, sometimes they might say "oh, it'll work on your hair color" even though you might have a lighter hair color, or if you're a darker-skinned person (a lot of the lasers do not work well on darker people...not sure if they came out with other lasers that will still work)...and that's probably why it came back?
I just don't want to think all the thread readers to think that laser doesn't work at all when it has worked for me, and i bet many others on this website...

Well, I am not the authority on lasering. I am just saying it was a waste for me, personally. I agree with you that perhaps I went to a facility that was not well trained, or they used the wrong strength (but it hurt like hell, so I don't know how it could get any stronger), or they were trying to do a lousy job to get me to come back and spend more cash, etc. It was expensive for something that gave me no results. But to each his/her own.

But what I was trying to stress, as a professional esthetician, that waxing is most certainly not an option for dancers.

I still believe the best option for the coochie is to shave it.

lol well that won't be a problem for me, whether its in style or not i hate hair down there and i know ill never want it again.

also the good thing about when you're going through laser treatments is that you shave in between as often as you like so you're still hairless.

i haven't actually had laser i have had ELOS which is slightly different and ive found after 2 treatments there is hardly anything growing back - very happy!

This is crazy but I think girls have done it before... I tweeze! Waxing sucks because of the regrowth, and shaving sort of works but it's hard when you're doing it every day... so one day I just sat down for like, an hour, and tweezed off everything at the top part, and now I just do touch ups in between. No regrowth, really smooth, no bumps! I still shave down below, in between my legs, but the front part (ummm what's it called) is tweezed from now on. Sounds ridiculous, but it's worked best for me...

It's actually not! No different than tweezing your eyebrows... I thought it would hurt too, but it seriously doesn't.

I've been tweezing too. It's to the point no wwhere it only takes me 10 or 15 min. I'm still thinking about waxing even further down though, because shaving down there leaves it a little rough, and I have gotten and given burns from doggy style or really agressive man on top. If it was just for the club, I'd keep shaving.... but I want to be smooth all over for the fella I like when it should get down to that moment.

I want to be smooth all over too! My guy loves it... but I just can't fucking wax because of the regrowth and work... and I'm not brave enough to take the pain of tweezing that low. So shaving it is

And yeah, tweezing up on top takes absolutely no time at all- I never would have considered it before, but I love it now that the initial agony of tweezing every little hair is done.
