Default what to put on mosquito bites?

I've got mosquito bites all over the sides of my feet (probably due to walking around barefoot at a cookout the other day). It is agony. They itch nonstop, and I'm going fucking insane. I've scratched them so much that they're bleeding. I heard that cocoa butter could stop the itching, so I tried it, but it's not working. I know they are mosquito bites and not poison ivy, or hives or anything like that. Does anyone know of a good home remedy to stop the itching? I can't use calamine lotion...

Tips I've used before, all gleened from various websites over the years.

    1. Keep the site clean and dry until the irritation abates. And don't itch it. Ever.

    2. Make a paste of baking soda and water and spread the mixture on the bites.

    3. Apply an ice pack or ice wrapped in a washcloth to the bite area.

    4. Purchase 1-percent hydrocortisone cream to alleviate the itching. Follow directions on the package for safe use.

    5. Use an anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen to reduce any accompanying swelling or redness.

    6. Take an anti-histamine like benadryl to help with any swelling or itching.

    7. Do not rub skin, soak instead of scrubbing, and pat dry instead of rubbing.

    8. Use aloe vera gel to reduce swelling and itching, it forms a protective layer, which will reduce possible infection.

    Hope this helps.

alcohol is a great temporary relief - and no, I don't mean drinking, like the isopropyl alcohal stuff.

Yea I also agree that hydrocortisone cream is great with mos bites. When i was in Africa I had the worst bites EVER! but the cream was a major help.

Dissolve an asprin in a few drops of water to make a paste. Apply to bite.

    Edit: uncoated asprin

I cant' put alchohol on my bug bites. It dries the bite out but then leaves me with dark scarring.

I read somewhere semen actually soothes itching from the bites.

    But I don't recommend it

Why can't you use calamine lotion?

Neosporin or any hydrocortisone cream should do it. If not, try Benadryl, but be warned it'll probably knock you out and/or make you feel REALLY sluggish and stoned.

This sounds wierd, but it works! Put a banana peel on the bite, like face down. It will soothe it!

Ok if you are out in the wods or somewhere that you have nothing to put on a bite, you can put your spit on the bite, and it will help with the itch. Sounds a little gross, but it works...desperate times....

One of my texts recommended tabasco sauce; the capcaisin in it causes mild pain, which mediates the itch.

In a pinch, cough syrup does the trick.

There is this stuff called Purple Violet. I have to ask the druggist at CVS for it, one little drop. you must be careful with this stuff as it STAINS LIKE CRAZY!

Don't touch it after you put the purple violet on the bite. It will help with the itchiness a lot!

    Hope this helps.

I use Camp Phenique for Makayla's bites (she's so sensitive to them that they immediately turn into welts before she ever touches them).

Works good for her. You can also take some benadryl to help the itching subside. I've found that Aveeno Anti-Itch cream works well, too.

Does anyone know how to make the bite look less pigmented? My cat now has had fleas but they left me bites. The bites are almost gone but the red and purple color is still there. I know I can cover them up but what about something else that makes the coloring go away?
