Angry getting too tired at work

How do you all maintain your levels of energy at work? I recently started working somewhere where all girls are scheduled on a shift that lasts 8 hours, 9 1/2 hours, or longer. Usually 15 girls are working at one time. We do lapdances, dance two songs on stage, and crawl around a really long bar. I'm used to working in a small club, where most of the money came from lapdances, and no crawling around a bar. Also, it was MUCH easier to get lapdances at the club, so not as much energy was used on trying to get guys to buy dances. (The reason I left was because of the high payout that did NOT depend on the number of dances you got; you had to pay around $100-$120, no matter if you did 30 dances, or NO dances at all. Many guys got a 3 dance minimum.) Also, at the other club, we worked a 6 hour shift, and I got into the habit of leaving early.

How do I maintain my energy? I drink plenty of water, I don't drink alcohol or smoke, I make sure to eat before work, and I bring 2 energy bars to work to eat throughout the night. What am I doing wrong? I've been dancing for 3 years, and I've never felt like this. It's frustrating because I know there's money on the floor, but I'm zoning out in the dressing room.

I'm guessing that it takes a great deal of energy out of me to be so upbeat to all of the customers. That, combined with having to speak louder so they can hear me over the music, drains me.

I was feeling the same way, when working in NYC.Tough question.....The only thing I can think of is doing a lot of cardio workout, that will usually give you more energy.

This job is physcologically draining too...not just physically demanding. I find it catches up after a while.
Have you worked mainly nights for the last 3 years? That'll do it too. I suspect humans aren't designed to be up all night.

Make sure you are getting enough sleep. And I second the cardio workouts, it does help with energy! Try stretching half way through the night too. It helps with muscles and re-energizes you.

    Good job on staying hydrated...

Maybe look at your diet and make sure you aren't missing anything (carbs, fats, protien) Fresh fruit and veggies tend to be good energy sources. Energy bars IMO are crap. Lots stuff your body doesn't need.

Other than that....it may just take some time adjusting to the new hours. Good luck!

someone told me that energy bars might give u energy for a little while but they will actually make u more tired. i think its the sugar or something. instead of taking those with you to work, take a little tupperware bowl with fresh veggies and fruit. i actually have the same problem as you so i understand. by the time i get off each day, im so tired i can barely hold my eyes open. i just force myself to get off my ass because i think of it as i am wasting my time being there if im not making money.

Nuts are GREAT for energy! I munch on cashews.

Also, are you depressed? Usually when I find my energy is super low I realize that I'm getting depressed. You might want to consider some tipe of natural mood-lifter such as St. John's Wort, 5-htp, sam-e, or something. Just a thought.

^^ Yeah, I completely agree with coffee. It keeps me hyper and talkiative and that makes me money. Both for the day and night shift, since for me its not about being sleepy as in I need to sleep but more like just lazy and not feeling like doing much other than sitting there. I make sure to catch up on my sleep on my days off though as well as each something with protein right before going in.
