    Default I Love craigslist!!!

A week ago I was sitting around here in my apt wanting to get rid of shit I have in it to replace it with new things, but work is so up and down and bills are to be paid so I can't really go out and get new shit.

Thats when I came up with bartering

I bartered my compaq presario desktop with flat panel screen for an ibook by mac . I really really needed one so that I could free up free up this office and turn it into another bedroom. With a wireless laptop I can do that

I got this thing yesterday and im fucking stoked.

In the meantime I have some other shit to get rid of and im trading a massage table and also a nice tv entertainment center for 2 full sized beds with boxsprings.

Im selling an antique chair for 100 bucks , because the chick doesn't have shit to barter.

I know craigslist is pretty hit or miss when it comes to legit things., but i wanted to share a positive craigslist story on here.

I think craigslist gets a bad (deservedly bad) reputation from the "casual encounters" and "erotic services" categories. Shudder. An interesting read, I'll admit. The one-to-one selling of stuff and legit services seems much more above board. I found a shiatsu massage studio last winter 4 blocks from my house in the "theraputic services" area. It was a legit place, with legit therapists. (Actually, one of the therapists had posted to craigslist about her own services.)

    That rocks.

Do you know the story of the guy who began trading one red paper clip and kept trading until he got a house?

    Information from wikipedia:

He traded the paperclip for a fish-shaped pen.
He traded the pen for a hand-sculpted doorknob.
He trade the doorknob for a Coleman camp stove (with fuel).
He traded the camp stove for a Honda generator, from a U.S. Marine.
He traded the generator for an "instant party": an empty keg, an IOU for filling the keg with the beer of the holder's choice, and a neon Budweiser sign.
He traded the "instant party" to Quebec comedian and radio personality Michel Barrette for a Ski-doo snowmobile.
He traded the snowmobile for a two-person trip to Yahk, British Columbia in February 2006.
The second person on the trip to Yahk traded Kyle a cube van for the privilege.
He traded the cube van for a recording contract with Metal Works in Toronto, Canada.
He traded the recording contract to Jody Gnant for a year's rent in Phoenix, Arizona.
He traded the one year's rent in Phoenix, Arizona for one afternoon with Alice Cooper
He traded the one afternoon with Alice Cooper for a KISS motorized snow globe
He traded the KISS motorized snow globe to Corbin Bernsen for a role in the film Donna on Demand.
He traded the movie role for a two-story farmhouse in Kipling, Saskatchewan.

    except the Nigerian scammers....

if you try to sell something on there, like half the replies you get are from them. The other half are real people that will flake out on you. But it's a good place to buy stuff. I got my bed and this computer (brand new for a huge discount!) from people off craigslist.

And I "met" a casual encounters guy on there and he was over the top hot, so don't discount the CE either if you're in one of those moods.

The town actually erected a stutue of a red paper clip in his honor, if I recall correctly.

I wish craigslist was more well known and used here in Australia. They have an Australian section however I highly doubt it is as successful as it is in America.

GCG, Chicago is one thing, here in FLA (well this quaint little town) nada. Bigger towns here seem to do ok. I should post some shit here just to see what happenes.

Anyway, good on ya Tart, looks like you got some good deals!!!

I know if I time it right on ebay (using esnipe) I can usually do pretty good Especially on the tech stuff from Hong Kong... you have to watch that shipping.

Best deal on ebay was a 70 dollar RC MLRS for 15 dollars with shipping. It was new, I jsut hit it at the right time. Great fun for me and JCB but the missles look umm... funny) The Empress swears they are something else. Luckily she has not been too mean about it.
