Thumbs down I'm Ready to Get Out of Hillbilly Hell!

So...everyone that's talked to me recently knows that we moved into a house and all a couple months or so ago. It's been going well enough, I guess, but I'm getting so stir crazy in this small town and I keep having the urge to get out of here!

We're going to visit my family in Colorado coming up pretty soon, and I plan to scout out the area while we're there. I'll have my degree in a few months, so looking up that way might be what I end up doing.

I don't know if this is a rant...a thread asking what everyone thinks I should do...or what...I'm just ready to get out of here.

PS- Anyone live in Colordao? I want lots of opinions before we just pack up and move to a different state.

What kind of enviroment do you want to leave in? Cold, seasonal or warm? Do you like urban or rural areas? You like the desert or a lot greenery?

It sounds as if you don't appreciate "small" towns, but what population are you talking about? A small town can consist of 100 people or 20,000 people, + or -. It really does depend on what climate you are considering, the mentality of the people there.... etc. There are SO many factors to consider. Can you detail what you don't like about the town you are in? If you know what you don't want, you may know more of what you do want.

Well...for starters...our population is around 15,000. The problem comes in, though, in that I've been here all my life and it has the "everybody knows your name" type of thing going on here. All my family is here, and I feel like they always need to be in my business. Mox and I live together and still aren't technically married...unacceptable. My job isn't as good as my cousin's job...unacceptable. It's just crap like that- it gets old.

I guess it isn't the small town I'm trying to get away from...it's THIS small town. I feel like I want a fresh start. I want a place where people don't know me and I don't know them. I can't keep friends around here because they all depend on Mommy and Daddy for everything and it's SO obnoxious! (Anyone that lives on their own will understand me here.) Plus, it's so freaking hot here!

I guess Colorado is my choice state because it's the only other state where I've got family (that I'd want to be around, anyway). Well...the fact that it would be on the top of my list of places to live is important, too. I just don't want to totally shut myself off from everyone, but I sure don't want to stay in Texas much longer either.

^^^ Denver has a pit bull ban.

There's a few people here living in Colorado. If you're wondering about clubs, you can post in Club Chat or do a search - there was a big Colorado thread in there. If you're just wondering in general, I'm sure you'll get a response here. If you want to know from any guys, you can post in the General section on the Blue side (Stripclubjunkie at the bottom of the forum screen).

^^^ And that's the EXACT reason I would NEVER move there, or go on vacation there again.

Did you know if you are driveing THROUGH Denver with yor pitty, they can seize the dog and euthunize it on the spot?

I don't know about you guys, but BSL is a little too much like racism to me.

Colorado Springs is absolutely beautiful. Traffic congestion there can be a bitch though.

I only visited during the Summer, so the locals will have to fill you in on what winter is like.

I enjoyed Durango but maybe thats too small for you . Plus I was on vacation so that kind of rules out how it is year round . I'm not one much for big cities but I like to be within an hour from one if possible . Good luck with your choice .

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I don't have dogs (so obviously not pits), but I still don't think I'd want to live IN Denver. Maybe around in, but that would probably be too big of a change for me. Like I said before, though, it may not be the small town life I'm hating...it may just be THIS small town life. Being here with all these people I know and seeing them when I go to Wal-Mart or in a restaurant and having to endure the "So what are you doing now? How's your family?" kind of conversations and such.

I do worry about myself and the snow. I've seen "real" snow once...count it...ONCE in my life- and I was 6. The thought of living and driving in it makes me wonder if I could deal, but I'd love to be around it for a while.

I'm sure after we get back from our vacation we'll have a more concrete idea of what we'd like to do (which is 3 weeks from now, by the way). If it's something we'd want to look into a bit more I'm sure I'll be PMing people to find out what I want to know!
