Default TMI questions about dancing, periods and YI

OK I get my period next week...

How do I dance with my period?

I ordered a Divacup offline but it wont be here for up to 2 weeks. With the Divacup it would be imposible to tell but how would I wear a tampon without the string poppin out?

I feel like a moron not knowing and I dont want to look stupid in front of the girls at the club so I didnt ask them.

Also.. I'm workin Tuesday and I feel a yeast infection coming on (I get them about every other month) what do you do when you get one? I know some people must get the chronic like I do...

    Thanks

You can either get a tampon and put it in (cut the string or tuck it up inside) or get one of those triangular makeup sponges and stick it up there (this is what escorts have to do, as they are not allowed to not work just because they are on their period.)

As far as YIs, just get a Monistat or Ticonazole kit and start using it at night when you get home from work. Get the kit with vulvar creme to soothe the itching while at work. And keep yourself dry while working! Yeast loves moisture.

Or you could always stay home.

As far as tampons go, I like to get the OB tampons without the applicator; when I unwrap them, I just don't unwind the string from the bottom before I put them in. I don't know if you're working at a topless or nude place, but I work topless and I like to buy those pantiliners for thong panties and wear those as well, just so I don't have to worry so much about if my tampon gets saturated suddenly.

With the Divacup, just remember that you'll have to wear it higher up when you're at the club so that you don't have to worry about the little piece at the bottom sticking out. Some people cut that little piece at the bottom off, but it seems like that would make it a lot harder to reposition the cup on the fly.

Best of luck with the yeast infection. I've heard that eating very little sugar and lots of unsweetened (or minimally sweetened) yogurt can be good for dealing with chronic yeast infections, but I don't know that there's any scientific evidence for that.

OH I cant stay home I just started at this club.... I cant wait till my Diva comes because I'm gunna be so paranoid about my string coming out.

Yea I always have YI but even if I use a 1 day for the next few days it seems to (this is gunna be gross) seep out??? You know what I mean?

But my YI just make me extrmely dry and itchy (like chapped skin) its not like a I get smelly discharge I would just worry about the cream seeping out while I was dancing... Ew.

Thats why you only put the cream in for when you are asleep. Or you could try those YI kits that are meant for daytime use.

The vulvar creme I was referring to is a topical creme, doesn't go inside you.

CG I always just pushed the string up inside without ever having a problem. Chloe the red is right about no sugar and cutting back on grains (yeast feeds on these things). The yogurt is for acidophilus which you can buy in pill form. You want to get the live kind- refrigerated if possible. It's more $$$ but it works best.

I don't know if your club requires a certain kind of thong, but I like to wear bottoms that look like micro-booty shorts while I'm on my period. They don't have any tendency to slip to the side like thongs do, so if you're string did come out, no one would be the wiser.

    Oh, and don't wear white.

Collegegirl, have you ever gone to a doctor to check on your YI? I used to get them all the time and after a while, the over the counter stuff did not work for me, it only made things worse.
You might try going to Planned Parenthood and getting checked out. When I get one I go straight there because they give me some prescription stuff that works great. The NP there told me there are certain strains of yeast that are resistant to over the counter medicines.

And as was mentioned before, drinking too much or eating too much sugar, harsh soaps, baby wipes, too-tight clothing, all these things can lead you to get a YI more frequently if you have a sensitive kitty.

^^^ I agree that you should go to a doc for your YI, especially is you're getting them that often. I used to get a YI almost every month about a week before my period, and I went to the doc and we figured out it was my BC pill that was doing it... I switched pills and now I'm fine.

I think I have the most sensitive kitty.... EVER. You look at it wrong and the bacteria is off set and I got an infection!

And yup always before my period.

I have gone to many doctors and I have tried many things.

cotton underwear, sugar intake, no soap during shower(just water), keeping dry, no undies at night..... I avoid anything that can give me one.... and on top of it my boyfriend and I only have sex maybe once a week (even just once a month) because we are so busy with work, school and the baby.

I just get them.... I even switched to the nuva ring and it has helped a little bit (I have only had like 1 infection in the past 5 months)

Even when I wasnt on BC I got them.... My mom gets them CHRONIC. I guess its just in my female genes.

I need to eat more yogurt too.... I eat a lot on the go (school and the club) so I cant always eat stuff with utensils. LOL.

I get my period from like a Wend-Sat so maybe I can give up my (period) Friday for a Sunday or something.... who knows!

I'm so excited tomorrow is my first real shift!

The joy of owning a sensitive kitty. Well, anyway, you should do fine as long as you take the right precautions.

There are quite a few threads on here about YI and similar TMI-kitty related issues. You're hardly alone. Good luck on your first shift. Let us know how you did

College girl, have you considered maybe asking your boyfriend to wear a condom during sex? Even though you're a monogamous couple, I think it's possible he might be adding more bacteria to your sensitive kitty. My bf and I usually have a quick soap-and-water wash before getting it on.

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but my doctor (not a gyno, but a woman, at least) suggested I buy a tub of *unsweetened* plain yogurt, lie back on a piece of plastic garbage bag, and put some in for a few minutes. (Not long enough for it to be off refrigeration and go bad, lol.) Something about the good bacteria in it. I seem to remember it soothing the discomfort.

Yeah deffinately second the natural yoghurt... it will do wonders for your bits!

Just cut the tampon down about a centimetre or so and take the string off.. voila! Wear a dark colour, let your house mum know you are on your period( so she dosent think you are doing something else going to the bathroom regularly).. simple

    Good Luck

I use instead. They're fabulous. No tampon strings to worry about and no tip of the diva cup to stick out. I actually have something similar to the diva cup, but I like this better- a ton easier to stick in and it sits right underneath your cervix on your pelvic bone. (Was that TMI?) And you can wear it for up to 12 hours.

You're not supposed to re-use it, so it does get a little pricey, but I think it's totally worth it.

You can see a picture, more info and where to find it here:

Oh! and you can find them at regular stores and such, so no need to wait for it to be shipped to you.

Ooooh, I want one of those! You can get them at regular stores? I've never seen them at Rite Aid and such.. Are they easy to overlook?

The Instead is a good idea, but it doesn't fit everybody (my cunt is small, so it always tilts and comes loose). Also, in order to wear it comfortably, you need to know how everything is laid out down there for you -- every woman is different. I'd recommend taking a little time to get a sense for how your cervix and vagina are oriented when you aren't aroused, which will be when you're usually fooling around with an Instead or a Mooncup/Divacup/Keeper (they're all almost exactly the same in shape, the Instead is very different).

There are some shops, like natural food shops/co-ops/etc that will carry one of the brands of cups -- you can get that info off of their websites.

    Good luck.

My periods are really heavy, to the point that the first 2 days of my period I have to stay home, because I leak way to much. But when I go back to work I wear 2 pairs of panties. One nude pair, and then the pair that goes with my outfit. Guys cant really tell I have on the nude pair, and I get peace of mind that everything is cool.

    Yeast infection- 2 things

    1. Last time I had one my doc gave me a pill and it went away

    2. Have your boyfriend go to the doc. Boys don't feel it like we do. We can have one, give it to them, ours will heal and then next time you have sex- bam you got it back. It's never ending back and forth till you BOTH don't have it. Also, wearing a condom doesn't stop you from transferring it.

    Got this off another website:

It is possible to transfer yeast to a sexual partner. Until the yeast are gone, they can take up residence in you urethre and/or mouth and throat (in a healthy adult, oral yeast is very rare). You could then, in turn, pass the yeast back to your girlfriend. An oral yeast infection is called thrush. It typically causes creamy colored sore patches in the mouth. You may also have a sore throat. Genitally, a male yeast infection may cause itching, dry skin, and burning when you pee.

This can happen to breastfeeding mothers, too. Probably doesn't apply to too many people here, but just thought I'd add that tidbit.

I've been given one pill too. Zyrtec seems to be coming to mind, but I'm pretty sure that's not right.

Wow. I thought I had the tightest pussy ever. I tried the diva cup, but it sits in a different place and was incredibly uncomfortable. Also, was quite an ordeal to put it in and take it out. With the instead, I just fold it, stick it up there, and adjust. The only times I've had leakage issues with it is when I didn't change it in too long AND was having rough sex.

Also, watch out when you take a crap because it will tilt for a second and "pour" a little bit when you move those muscles. Don't get freaked out though, it won't leak again.

But, every woman is different, and if you have a titled uterus or something like that it might not be ideal.

If your period isn't too heavy you could try the sea sponge tampons-- they don't have a string. Or OB. I just don't like the idea of sticking unnatural bleached cotton in my female regions.

OK, I'll get off my instead soapbox now. If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them.

I found this information on it.

I dunno how exactly sanitary that is though. I'm a heavy bleeder and that would just be messy.
