    Thumbs up Clip-in hair extensions

Just thought I would give these babies a plug!
My hair is pretty flat and doesn't seem to grow any longer than shoulder-length so today I bought some 19" clip-in human hair extensions. I was a bit dubious about them at first because they are expensive (around $250) and they look pretty naff in the box, but the lady in the shop fitted them for me (there are around 10 strips) and they look AWESOME! They feel really heavy and silky and they blend in unnoticeably with my real hair. I feel about 500% sexier!
Let's see how they reflect in my earnings later on tonight. Will post tomorrow

Is your hair thick? I bought some, but my hair is thin and it is really difficult to make the wefts not visible, maybe I am doing something wrong?

    Update...
Made some average to good money last night even though the club was dead. May or may not have been because I had Rapunzelesque hair. One thing that was annoying was that they started to slide out if I ran my fingers through my hair - then again I put them on in a rush and didn't really do it properly...
Buffie: I dunno, my hair is pretty thick. Maybe try putting them in underneath all your real hair instead of staggering them?

What helps me keep mine in is teasing my hair at the part line and spraying with hair spray, then clip them in. I have the euronext ones fron Sallys and they stay in all night.

I just bought some hair extensions from Hair Unlimited in Mission Valley here. I am so very very satisfied. The lady was so nice and she color matched my hair very well. The hair is down to my boobies and mid-back. It only cost me about $118 for 5 pieces . All fab quality human hair. She even put them in for me and cut them to match my hair lengths.

Susan-Va Im going to have to try that trick... all I need is a piece flying out in the middle of a pole trick. EEeep!

Oh almost forgot... my camera on my phone wont send pics to my email otherwise I'll post pics when I get a chance.

I have those too. I tease and then use my husband's hard hold gel to hold them in place. It works ok, but I think it's a lot of effort. Yes, I am lazy.

I'd love to try these, buy my hair is so baby fine and Marsha Brady straight that I have a hard time even finding barrettes that stay in....I doubt anything with any weight to it would stay..:-(

Cameronfl, my hair is really thin too. They stay in just fine. I do have to tease the place where I put the clip in and put a little hairspray on it but it stays in. I flipped my head upside down a few times and asked my coworkers if they could see the clips and you cant see them. No clips fell out either. Ive had weave in extensions before and those were heavy but these just feel like you have alot of hair.

I freakin' love these! Thanks for the compliment btw.

When I do mine, I just spray a line of hairspray along the horizontal part before I clip them in, and I have very fine hair as well. Unfortunately, since I've been wearing them for about a year now, a couple of spots where the clips always go have thinned to almost baldness from the gradual pulling. It's completely unnoticeable, but I can feel the spots on my scalp. So now I only wear my extensions when I go out or when I'm at work

Oh yes, I just made some and I love them. Bought wefted hair on ebay, cut into sections, attached toupee clips, permed the hair to damage it enough to match my texture (), and voila! Perfect match. Very pleased!

Total cost is crazy cheap too:

5 packages of wefted hair on ebay was under $100 (enough for years and years of extensions)
    toupee clips: $10-ish
    home perm kit: $7

    That's it!

    Feature costumes for sale!

I'm in the process of getting some from an ebay seller, but it seems like I'd have been better off making them myself. It was hard to get a color that matched my own; she said she had to order it from her vendor. Hopefully I'll get them soon and hopefully they match. I've heard only good things about clip-ins though.

I think I'm gonna try again. I love do it yourself beauty I bought the 1st set w/ my hair in a bun, so the color was off. Then I got a weave, but once I washed it the texture totally changed. I used a ton of biosilk, good shampoo/ conditioner. They got totally yucky,. It was human hair too, and I had straightened it w/ good results before cleaning it. How can I wash it and still keep it nice? I'd love to have longer hair!

I wash mine once a week. Shampoo and condition with my regular shampoo then hang up to air dry.

To wash them, I just take all of them, brush them out, and then hold them together with my left hand while washing them with my right. Then I condition them and lay them in a towel and blot them, then I hang them up to dry. I wash mine every two times I wear them, that smoky stench drives me crazy.

I made my own. I bought "Velvet Remi" hair 16". I bought these special extension clips they had and spent an evening sewing.

    Hair: $80
    Clips: $10
    Sewing kit: $2

I recently got my hair highlighted though. I took the extensions to highlight those as well and it cost me 150 for my hair and 100 for the extensions!! They came out perfectly, but still...

Those sound pretty good. What brand do most of you prefer? I don't want to sew them myself though, too lazy. I just chopped off all my hair, its in a bob, below chin/above shoulders. All of my extensions are gone, and I wouldn't mind adding some thickness for special nights.

Also, do you know of any that have good swatches of brown hair with blonde streaks? I don't want to have to color them either, lol....

My hairdresser says that she doesn't make them. Went a client wants them, she'll order the Raquel Welch (sp?) clip in kit and highlight them to match. The kit comes with ten pieces of varying widths for the different parts of your head. It's costs somewhere around $250. Different salons will charge different amounts for the highlighting.
