    Default piercing rejection

I just wanted to share my story about what happened to my rook piercing for anyone considering them. From my experience cartilage piercings tend to have a higher rejection rate. The last week my rook had started to migrate out of my ear. At first I thought I could stop this process by a more thorough cleaning process. Well yesterday i woke up and went to check if it was still migrating. I barely pulled on it and the piercing literally ripped out! This is my second rejection(my first was my tragus but I took it out before it could do this). Has anyone else had a similar experience and with what piercing?

cleaning ti womnmt stop it from rejection if anything the over irritation of the area will cause it to reject faster.

chances are the piercer didnt give you the proper jewelry for the area in size.

Yes, that happened to one of my nipple piercings. It grew out, similar to how you're describing, in 5months. I got my nipples pierced nearly 4 yrs ago, pre-implants when I was fairly flat chested and my nipples were flat and barely existent. Because I didn't have actually pokey-outter nipples like normal people have, the nipple ring had nothing to pierce through but skin. No wonder the piercing grew out!...It had as much substance to hold onto, as a piercing going through the skin of your palm of your hand! The ring on the other nipple, although prone to slight infection and growing out slightly, still stayed in however. When I got my breasts augmented over a year ago, I took the remaining nipple ring out. At that point, it was starting to grow out and the metal of the ring was very close to the surface of my nipple's skin. I don't think I will pierce them again, not because of the growing-out complications, but because I'm kinda "over" that piercing phase in my life now. If I got them pierced again, I might have better luck this time around because the implants have pushed out my nipples now and have made them bigger and with more substance...but I just don't have the interest in repiercing.

I just got mine done a few days ago, and now I'm flipping out!!!!

What causes this? Also, my belly button is red at the points of entry and exit. Is this about to start crawling out of my skin? *begins panicking*

It won't be a problem. Just put the stuff they have you on it.

^ course I've had my ears pierced for about 25 years...and I've never had any problems there. I think it just depends on what you have pierced.

How likely is it for your body to reject a bellybutton piercing?!?

I pierced one of my own nipples in high school and it began to migrate and then had both done professionally after I had removed the one and I've had them both for about 6 years now. I think part of the reason mine started to migrate was because I pierced it wrong. I don't think that's always the reason, but I do think it can be a reason sometimes. It was the only piercing that I've ever had migrate.

I've had my belly ring for a little over 10 years . I have noticed that over time, the skin flap over the hole is getting smaller and smaller as it veeeeerrrryy slowly rejects--Or perhaps gets pulled by all the heavier jewelry, the times its been tugged on my pants or when it's been accidentally yanked during sex or a lapdance. It does seem that one day, it just won't be there anymore----but it's happening at a snails pace. 10 years down, I think it will be 5 more years before it just dissapears.

first time i had my navel pierced, it was fine for like three years. then i got some cheap-ass jewelry at hot topic and put that in...it evacuated in like a month. i let the area heal, and then repierced it last year (he had to work around the old scar tissue). kept in the ring that the piercer pierced it with, and it's pretty much fine. i might get a new ring eventually, but will go back to my piercer. learned my lesson the last time. hot topic navel rings=cheap! bad! avoid!

I had mine for about five years when I noticed it started to migrate its way out. It just got to where the piece of skin between it was a tiny string.

It was probably the piercers fault because she put in faulty jewelery the first time. She went to put a diffrent barbell in and it had already started closing so she pierced it twice(or at least thats what it felt like). Of all my piercings the one I went through the most pain for rejects. just my luck.

I had my lip frenulum pierced a few years ago (called a smiley/scrumper). It was supercute, but it rejected in a few weeks (my membrane was just too thin). I was sitting in class in a big lecture hall and sneezed. It flew across the room and hit a sorostitute in her empty head, leading to copious amounts of freaking out. I'd have to say, it was one of the more amusing rejections of my life.

For those of you with no idea what a smiley looks like, I supply this photo (not me). See the ball between her front teeth? That's it. They pierce the webbing between your upper gums and lip with a captive bead, leaving the bead to hang between the front teeth.

I'm going to be getting a surface piercing. I know the rejection rate is scary high, but I can't help myself. I want my hip bones to have adornments. Yay, Tygon.

The only thing besides my earlobes I have ever pierced is the top part of my ear, the cartilige, whatever you call that type of piercing. Anyway, I used to have two piercings up there that I got in high school. For some reason one of them, the second that I did, got all yucky and infected and I had to take it out and the hole closed up but I still have a bump there. Now I rarely wear the one that I still have. It seems when I wear an earring in it I get a headache. but the hole is still there.
