Default I failed the interview personality test/survey!

I applied to a prestigious hospital as a CNA/PCT/Student nurse, and I made it to the 2nd round, which was a computerized personality test with the choices Strongly Agree, Moderately Agree, Slightly Agree, Slightly Disagree, Moderately Disagree, Strongly Disagree. It didn't occur to me until after I had completed it that I should have answered what they wanted. I just received an email stating that I would not be suited for their workplace.

I think that the place that I messed up was the questions along the vein of, "When following safety precautions, all accidents can be avoided?" "I attribute lack of injury to luck," and "Healthcare workers are stressed and overworked because of administrators." I worked LTC and can absolutely state that even with the best safety precautions, injuries are still unavoidable sometimes.

I'm not too fazed about this rejection, as I saw that they're all about customer service. In fact, during the personality test, they never once said patient, it was always about the customer. Hmmm...
Yes, I strongly agree that rude people are always right and should be treated with respect.
Yes, I strongly agree that even when extremely busy, I can still take the time to explain something to somebody of get something for them.
Yes, I strongly agree that any accidents are at the fault of the careless person because s/he did not follow safety procedures.
(Yes, these were actual questions. I answered correctly on these b/c they were thinly disguised).

For pete's sake, there was a gift shop in the lobby that sold Rolex watches! I'm currently waiting tables, and the customer service I do now is less obsequious than the job expectations at this hospital!

The moral of this story: When they say that there is no right or wrong answer with these personality tests, it's bullcrap. Answer the way they want you to in order to get your foot in the door.

Fuckers. They don't know what a wonderful future nurse they're missing out on. I hope their customer service blows up in their faces after nursing strikes and the customer always being right so that 's ok to do things like eat before surgery.

I agree. I failed the Home Depot, Blockbuster, and TGI Friday's personality tests. I over-thought the test and gave myself a margin of error b/c I assumed that they wouldn't want someone who answered them all perfectly. I would think a perfect answer of what you think they want you to answer would indicate some level of dishonesty.

I read somewhere else that the personality test is also a way for the company to give you subliminal indicators as to how they expect you to behave in their workplace- things they aren't really legally allowed to tell you when they hire you.

My dad always said when they have that range of answers, it's always best to just answer in the middle for most.

I answered in the middle, and I think that's what disqualified me.

Yeah, it is a way to subliminally tell people how to act during the job. Fuckers.

always answer those personality tests like the 'perfect stereotype' of the role your going for. no-one is interested in your real personality and they're lying if they say they are.

'there are no right or wrong answers'... buuullshit... my 'real' answer to everything is: 'i want to stay home in my robe, drink coffee and play on stripperweb', my stereotype answers involve various combinations of:

    - team player
    - customer-focused
    - empathetic
    - passionate
    - motivated

if there is an option to be the greatest-serving, team-playing, bitch-in-a-federal-pound-me-in-the-ass-prison option, then take it. (tests blow!)

I failed the BestBuy Job Application quiz. I think it was the trick question about trying to get a refund out of a out-of-order vending machine that busted me. (Breaking is not an option? Dang!)
I have also been bounced out of a few jobs for different reasons. Lots of funny stories. I'm a troublemaker, can't help it.

Meh, it sounds like they concentrate more on customer satisfaction than healthcare. If I wanted that crap, I'd work at a hotel.

Since I haven't had a J.O.B. since 1997, I haven't had to take one of these things in a Loooooonnnnnggg time. But the last one I did take the manager coached me on the "correct" answers so that he could hire me.

He basically told me that if the questions asked "If you catch your grandmother stealing food so she didn't starve to death, would you turn her in?" and he told me to answer "Strongly agree".

It is a rediculious test and everyone games the scores anyway. Only an 8 year old child would have such black and white views of the world. All the managers know that the test is stupid, but also know the coroporate offices like to feel they are in some control, too. The test also protects the managers from coporate from coming down on them for making a bad hiring decision.

"But this person scored so high on their honesty test!"

Pfft the only thing it measures is whether or not the person is smart enough to see the necessity of cracking their code and finding the "correct" answers.

^Hehe, it reminds me of what my bf said after meeting my batshit insane aunt. He said, "Oh no, she's done a very nice thing for me. You see, by being a bitch, she's saved me from hours, days, weeks, or months from having to attempt or pretend to like her."

Sorry you didn't pass the test Krazyjane, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Maybe you'll find an even better job.

Some jobs have really stupid tests. I once worked at a video rental store called Family Video as a customer service rep for a whopping $7.00 an hour, and they made us take this math, reading, and vocabulary test before we could be considered for the job. I passed the test, but it was not a simple test and I know people who are not dummies at all who did not pass it. I didn't understand why they made us take such an asinine test because that job really was not too difficult. All we had to do was cashier, put movies back, scan movies in, and make telephone calls to people whose movies were late.

Also, you had to have an interview with a manager before you got hired, and if they didn't like something about your personality or appearance (I'm talking picky little things like "talks too quietly" or "talks too fast"), they would write it down. They checked all your references too. It's weird that a job that pays so little would have such a strict hiring process.

I will never cease to be amazed at the things they put people through to get a job (yes, even in times like this) as well as seeing/talking to some of the most clueless types ever that do hold these jobs (at all skill & educational levels).
