    Ripped off..

What is your clubs policy about customers not paying? At my club they will ask the customer to pay but can not force them. Tonight for instance, a customer refused to give a girl anything but 20 for 6 songs (songs are 20 each). The police were called and also tryed to get the guy to pay..he still refused, the cops told the girl they could not force a customer to pay for dances either. Is it like that everywhere??

They would never call the cops around here. The dancer has to get a manager, and the manager will talk to the guy. But in the end, they can't force him to pay. So they pretty much don't do shit.

It's not standard practice to collect before the dance here. We just get screwed. That's why it's smart for the dancer not to let too many songs pass before she makes a collection. As a newbie I was burned for over $200 when the custy said he was going to the ATM and went out the door instead. I've had more rip-off customers, but never for more than $60 after that first lesson. Everytime it happened, it always made me want to cry.

My club in the Us would take the guy's car keys. Give her the money or give her the car, Atm down the street.

It's bullshit when they say they "can't" make them pay. It's theft of services if they don't. If the cops were worth two shits they'd know this and threaten him accordingly until he paid or let you file charges.

ITA! Why this double standard? Just because it's a service and not a product doesn't make it any less of a theft! Think about how many services you customarily pay for after receiving them! Would someone pull this in a salon or a spa?

I know right..I love that woman. She's so spunky! Anywho, I agree that the police could've and should've done more. I dunno, maybe the police act like we dont know the law or something. I would've gotten up in their ass too.

But for future reference, the only people I "let the meter" run on are my regulars. I know they aren't gonna stiff me in the long run. Some new guy...nope I'll do maybe 3, ask for payment and then contintue.

This is one of the things I love about my current club...the bouncers WILL get your money. One way or another...they get REAL pissed off if a guy disrespects us and can be extremely intimidating.

One of them sits at the door to VIP, so you have to pass him by to get back out into the club. Just the sight of him there is usually enough to get the guy to cough it up...but if they have to they will step in on our behalf.

we don't even have set prices at my club, so, techincally, a customer isn't breaking any rules if they decide not to tip you. it's only happened to me once and there was nothing i could do about it. and then there are the 100's of $1 dances i've given...punks.

We can't technically "force" a guy to pay us either. Meaning they can't hit/abuse a custy to get him to pay or forceably go into his pocket. We will threaten him with the police and take his license. I've never had a guy refuse to pay once threatened, they will usually just bail or pretend to go to the ATM and just run out the door. I ALWAYS follow guys to the ATM. I got stiffed once buy a dude for a 100 bucks, and he had even got 200 dollars worth of dances earlier and paid just fine. I got called to stage, and had to leave and he said he would bring it up after he went to the ATM. I made the mistake of trusting that he would pay. Never trust anyone. I won't even go onstage without geting my $$.

Its bullshit that the police act as though they can't do anything.

Same at our club....the bouncers are HUGE walking walla of men...and they will intimidate and be as mean as the can to get your money from them...but if the guy STILL refuses...they can't do anything.

I usually have a 4 song limit, after that I will collect, even if I know the guy will buy more.

And when I get the "I have to go to the ATM" line, I say, "Great! Lets walk together" and stand up... no way is that guy getting out of my sight!

Sucks you got ripped off honey....tough lesson to learn.

The cops don't do anything if any other business is ripped off for $100, either. So don't feel like you are being singled out because the cops did nothing.

I think any dancer who has danced for a while has expierenced being ripped off at least once in her career. It sucks, but you learn and move on.

Just make sure you are comminicating with your customer the whole time. When the song changes say "Would you like another?" not "Would you like to keep going?"

Also, be sure to tell the customer that dances are $20 a song. Then as you progress through the dances keep saying are you ready for a fourth dance (and fifth and sixth etc.) so he knows exactly how big of a bill he is racking up. It sounds like this guy maybe misunderstood how the dance charges worked at your club or was maybe just drunk and didn't understand that the songs were changing??

It sounds like your club did all they could to back you up. I'd keep working for that club. So many times the clubs are nonchalant about customers ripping off dancers and won't even kick the guy out!!

I'm sorry that happened to you. At least you weren't stuck with a VIP charge on top of the guy not paying- That would suck hard!

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

I only got ripped off once. There were times that guys tried to rip me off, and I told the bouncer and the bouncer told him to pay up. Despite the asshole lying to the bouncer by falsely saying that I'd "promised him a free lapdance," the guy paid up and I got my $20. However, when I was in AC I got ripped off and this is part of the reason why I stopped going to the club there. (The other reasons included: not profitable enough, long drives, expensive commute costs, long work hours that didn't allow me to have a normal life or even a normal sleep schedule.)

But anyways, I was talking to these two guys and I asked the one if he wanted a dance. He said that his friend needed one. His friend agreed to it, I did the first dance, asked if he wanted a second, and he agreed. At the end of the second dance, he said "OK how much do I owe you?" and I told him $40. He reached into his wallet, gave me $20, said he needed to come back because he didn't have the other $20. He went over to his friend to ask for money I guess, and the friend said no(some friend! ). So the two of them went up to the cashier to pay the other $20 on credit card. When the first guy realized that there was a $60 minimum for funny money and a $12 fee, he flipped out even though it was the other guy's credit card, NOT his. He started claiming that his friend was "mentally retarded," "didn't know any better," etc. But if the guy was retarded, then why didn't his friend WATCH him while I gave him the dance? And how many mentally retarded guys have their own credit cards? So the owner came out, and he promptly refunded their money, told them they didn't have to pay me the last $20 but told them to leave immediately. Why the hell do I care if they leave, if I don't get my money?? I'd rather have gotten my $20 and owners let them stay. After all, the guy I'd danced for was willingly giving his credit card and he'd willingly consented. Retarded?...I have a brother who's mentally disabled, and if this guy really was mentally disabled like my brother, he sure put on a damn good acting job at that. It outraged me because the whole night after tip-out, I only had $43 so that $20 extra woulda increased my earnings by 50%. Hmmm anyone wonder why I quit that place? I didn't think it was very nice for the management to let that asshole get away with telling his friend not to pay me, esp on such a dead night.

the bouncers would talk to the customer and if he still refused, they'd just toss the jerk out the door on his ass if this happened at my old club.
Whenever I'd notice that a customer was trashed, I'd always get my money up front. Helped with that "oh I guess I thought I had more," b.s.

It's not a tip for service. Dance PRICES are well advertised. When it has a PRICE, it's not a tip; it's a PRICE. Everyone knows you have to pay for a dance, that it comes with a PRICE.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. We are independent contractors which means we are running our own business. But when there's a descrepency with customers not wanting to pay, we get treated like employees not only by the club, but by the cops - they act like there's nothing they can do, and it's BULLSHIT. Of course the same cops are all over treating us like ICs when it's time to bust us for illegal activity. Fuckers.

If the cops were called to a salon because some customer refused to pay for a service, you can bet they'd do something about it - and most salons operate in much the same way strip clubs do (the beauticians rent their booths and essentially run their own businesses). So what exactly is it, other than the sexual nature of the business, that makes the fucking law not apply to us???? Except of course when they want to bust us for bullshit

Well, one time some guy tried it and the club held his license until he paid me. But, that's illegal... THey did it anyways, though. This happened at the club I'm at now but they didn't force him to pay (it is illegal). They harrassed him as much as possible until they had to just throw him and his friends out.

Because owners and managers don't want the cops in the place noticing the shady way they run their businesses. THAT'S why we can't call the cops.

Our club will get $20 for you, but only $20, no matter how many dances we've done .

i got ripped off a few times over the years, but it was rare. one thing that worked for me was that i would remove a guy's cellphone, take off his glasses, etc. and place them on a table, with me between the man and his stuff. if, after the dance, it looked like he was going to rip me off, i would imply that if he wanted his stuff back, he'd have to pay. usually, i'd just stand there, not moving to let the guy collect his things, and this would prevent me from having to say anything more direct. however, once i threatened to "accidentally" spill a drink on one guy's phone, etc.

As a few here might be able to attest....if I've gotten ripped off, you'd better fucking BELIEVE I am not paying future house fees until I regain the balance of my ripoff. It never failed me once!

So ladies, if your club won't take care of you from the customer, make sure they get you on the other end.
