Default Do NOT laugh at me! Help!

No, I would laugh at me...I'm stuck! It's my audition tomorrow and I need to know what the hell to do with Eye Pencil! This is very serious, I'm an expert in fondations and blush to create a naturally pretty look, even on a night out I don't wear much glamourous make-up; and I need to tomorrow and I don't know how!!! I bough some nice eye shadows too, but again I'm just making a mess - please someone give me some instructions!
P.S. - Although this is rediculous, I am being serious!

There is no reason to make fun of you! It took my at least a good year of practice to get it right, and I still have to wipe of and start over sometimes. Eye pencil should go under your eye, I preefer liquid liner for the top of my lid, but if I don't have any, get a lighter and melt it a bit so it will go on smoother. Keep the lines as close to the lashes as possible, do not put it on the inside of your lashes, this will make your eyes smaller. Also, the more you do it, the better it gets, and your eyeliner not being perfect wont blow your audition. Also, if you can find a friendly girl, see if they can help you. Most girls wont mind. also a good ice breaker.

Ok - Eye liner goes on under your eye, and top?...but on the outside of your lashes...ok, thank you I will try it. What about eye shadow, I have gold, it doesn't really seem to show up from a distance though, should I use black too - will they mix? And how do I make my eyes 'smokey' without looking like I have been punched.

Thank you for any help, kisses, Naomi.

All of my friends ask me to do their eye makup all the time, so I suppose I'm really good. What I always use is a highly pigmented eyeshadow ( think mac) instead of eyeliner. I use a slanted eyelining brush to press the shadow into the lashes to make them look really full, and the I do underneath starting from about midway on the lashiline with a slightly lighter shadow, at the end of the eye, I swoop up. I go back to the darker line I mad on top and make a slightly thicker line just on the outer part of the eye and connect this to the swoop I made underneath. Then I take whatever is left and make a v shape starting at the outer lashline and going into the crease for some deffinition. All this seems hard but it's really not. I always make the perfect cat eyes using this technique : )

To make powder eyeshadow into liner, mix it with a few drops of Visine (you can do this with your regular eyeshadow too) and apply with an eyeliner brush. Visine works better then water, and stays on much longer. If you're applying eyeliner with a pencil (or using the liquid stuff), on your top lid, don't start out with one big line...make several small dashes like this - - - -, then go back and connect them. Good luck!

Wow, who told you about the Visine trick? I've never heard that before.

Naomi, are you within close distance to a mall? I know you need to learn, but one of the best ways to learn is to have someone show you. If you go to the MAC make-up counter, they will apply eye make-up for you, and show you hwo to do it, you may have to buy an eye liner or something, but it could be worth it to you to have someone show you an easy, day to day/night to night method of doing it.

If I were you, someone who has never done eye make up before, I would ask to be shown the LEAST complicated way of doing it, and still get the maximum effect. Basic black liner, top and bottom, close to lash line. Liquid IS easier to work with, even though it sounds scary, but it wipes off so much easier of you get messy.

Eye shadow, again, the basics for starters...darker color in the crease of your eye, that's where the line through your eye lid is, and lighter color just underneath your brow , blend together...

Again, grab someone at a make up counter, they are supposed to show people how to apply...so they wont mind at all.

    Online tutorials can help.

However, first days are stressful enough without worrying if your eyeliner is ok. I would put a light shadow on, use mascara (very easy to apply) and focus on what you know how to do. Then focus on glam lips, which is easy...just a darker/vibrant lipstick.

I just think it might be wise to hold off on the smoky eyes until you can get it down pat, rather than rush to learn how to do it for your audition tomorrow. Especially if you're feeling insecure about it...that will show. You want to be as confident as possible.

If there is a Sephora near you, go to Sephora. I've been (at least locally) noticng that Mac counters can be heavy handed and not as beginner friendly (in my opinion of the local counters- dunno about other locations).

I agree, just go with mascara and visine (for nice bright eyes) until you can get better with the eyeliner/shadow.

Only do this with the "dust" of the e/s. Do not try to mix it while it is in solid form.

Generally, buy the best makeup you can afford. I mean no drugstore cosmetics. I like Clinique. Mac is good. Also Valerie cosmetics. Plus, if you have fair or lighter skin, don't line the top lid, only the bottom. I am against drugstore makeup because they tend to be cheap looking, they don't apply right, I look better without makeup than wearing that. But that is me and I am known for being high maintenance and picky.

The fact is, good makeup goes on smooth and even and is hard to make mistakes with if you are not a professional.

In terms of make-up such as cover-up/foundation/blusher/lipstick/mascara, I only use Clinique and Estee Lauder, but I bought some fairly priced stuff for my eye make-up, I think it's called Barrym (http://www.barrym.co.uk) I have nothing to compare it to, so I'm not really sure if it's any good??? - For my audition, I did OK in terms of make-up, I think - but I still didn't get through - I'm very upset, I've spent hundreds of pounds in Lessons and shoes and clothes, money that I don't have. Grr...But that you all so much for your help.

Q-tips and a bit of spit will remove any mistakes without having to wash your eyes.
