    Default achilles tendon HURTS!!

    Hey girls.
    Have you ever had a problem with your achilles tendon hurting? I haven't been working more than normal, but my left achilles is KILLING me. They only time it doesn't hurt is when I wear sneakers. By the end of my 7 hour shift, I am limping around if walking at all. I have tried icing and heating, ibprophen (sp), stretching, wearing "baby heels" (3 inchers), etc. but nothing seems to help! I only work 3-4 nights/week, so it's not every night thankfully. But it's been bothering me for about 2 weeks now. I don't know what happened to cause the pain....
    Any suggestions on what to do to help the pain?

    Ackkk, that doesn't sound good. I think you should go to a sport's medicine doctor or podiatrist or hell, just a general practioner. I know it's expensive but if you don't take care of your feet they won't take care of you.

    Sounds like it MIGHT be one of two things: tendinitis or possibly a bone spur. In either case, if it's been this persistent and none of the above things are relieving you, then I agree, it's time to see a doctor. Sports medicine or general orthopedist, or whatever you can get a referral for. Please do it soon to prevent more damage. In the meantime, ice is the way to go as opposed to heat (I know it's not fixing the problem, but it should help any inflammationfrom worsening). Good luck!

    Hi
    You need to RICE it: Rest, ice, compression, elevation every night.
    Take some time off the heels. (Taking a little time off now is better then taking a long time off later).
    Once you are well again, I suggest you stretch it after warming up before actvity: Stand up. Take the injured foot behing you. The other foot in front. Raise the back heel off the floor then lower several times (good calf stretch also). Make sure your front knee does NOT go over that front toe when you raise your back heel, so you will need ample distance between legs.

    R= rest
    I= ice
    C=compression
    E=elevation

    Only works if the person is expericing inflammations in the acute and subacute stages. We dont know whats going on with her achilles tendon.
    Honey I dont know how long you had this promblem. I sugguest you see your doctor. Than he can refer you to the right person to help you! We dont know if you sprain that muscle or you have inflammation. We dont know if you teared that tendon. You need to see a professional that can help solve your promblem. Here are some signs of inflammation. You probuarly already know them but just incase. I hope you get that check out and feel better!

    Redness
    Pain
    Swelling
    Loss of function

    Please go to the doctor and he/she will be able to exam the area.

    I have been staying off it for a few days now-and I have it wrapped. Seems to be helping because it doesn't hurt nearly as much. Thanks for the advice!
