Default Where Has Dancing Taken You?

Either physically; Have you gone out of the city/state/country?

Or careerwise: What do you do now? Are you modeling, doing movies, have a website, feature dancing? What are you doing to make money off your...youth ? Or have you retired from dancing?

    Just curious...

Dancing has taken me out of the shitty suburbs into a nice inner city apartment on the waterfront, led me to my husband, taught me to be confidant with who i am, opened my eyes to the world, help me achieve monetary goals i would have only dreamed of before.

Dancing has taken me from, in the beginning, a struggling single mom with 2 children....to a successful, independent, self reliant, self confidnet, honest, reliable, pratical business woman. One who has first worked for her money, and now makes her money work for her.

It had given me the opportunity to meet the most wonderful man I have ever met..who is the one I married!

I have travelled all over the world, seen more things than most can dream of! BTW...I was paid for it too!!!!

Over the course of 19 years, 14 of which dancing, I have experiences and learned enough tricks of the trade to open my own business. I have started the "One Stop Stripper Shop!"

Dancing has given me the ability to give to others!

from starting out in a small local club, I wound up dancing as a house dancer in many clubs in many different states. I then wound up featuring in larger clubs in different states, as well as in a few foreign countries. At first the travel was fun, but after 9/11 and some 'incidents' the travel started to become a real pain in the a$$.

At the same time I had been operating my own pay website and self-hosted webcam and also selling self-produced videos. I opted to keep the content to solo plus various girlfriends, because unless your are Jenna Jamison getting a XXX reputation can close some 'mainstream' opportunities off (or at least it did back then). I eventually shut down my pay website, primarily due to the passage of the Section 2257 law and a steady deterioration of the website operating costs versus potential income equation.

At the same time I did a few softcore magazines (Score, Hustler, DCup, Cleavage and god knows how many others) and a few softcore videos (Napali, Score, Gonzo). Same as before, I opted to stay away from XXX content in the hopes that some more 'mainstream' doors would eventually open for me.

This finally started to happen (a little bit, anyhow) and I then did some TV exploitation shows like Jenny Jones and Maury. From there I finally was able to 'move up' to doing 3am Cinemax style B movies ... with my most 'memorable' role probably being a screaming stripper whose tits are chopped off with a machete by a crazed killer in 'Bachelor Party Massacre' (lets face it the movie sucked but the special effects were great LOL). Working in B movies was the best thing that I ever did ... but I dread the day when one of my eventual grandchildren eventually catches a re-run and asks 'hey grandma, that stripper in the old movie I watched last night looked a whole lot like you !!!!!"

At this point I was able to do what I wanted to do most ... 'retire' with a sizeable nest egg set aside so that I never have to work again if I don't want to !

My goal is to become a mini Alena Downs lol... seriously though I dont think I could ever be as amazing as her..

I guess I should add that dancing has brought me from being an alcoholic pot head to a cleaned up sober level headed gal... I was nearly homeless when I started dancing and now im financially stable and comfortable and moving to Alberta(or so I hope). Dancing has given me many oppertunities and actually settled me down... yea go figure I became level headed from something thats supposed to turn you into a flake lol.

Its going to be interesting to see where it takes me next..

    She's already mini!

Dancing hasn't brought me anywhere I wouldn't have gone (except Beaumont), but it's made my trips much more interesting and financially rewarding.

    Physically; nowhere, I stayed local.

But it took me from being a single mom struggling to make ends meet to a strong, confident, educated women who not only was able to provide financially for my girls, but was able to show them that they can do for themselves; without a man.

I'm retired now, but will do an occasional cameo.

Physically around North America when I was featuring, and currently into a lot of sex worker writing and conferences, as well as into burlesque performing (where there aren't that many current or former mainstream strippers), and into teaching burlesque and exotic dance to nonpros. I've been on the Learning Channel, among other things, and I've won a couple of New York Burlesque Festival awards. I've exhibited my photos of burlesque in New York, Los Angeles, Dublin, and Atlanta. All very fun stuff!

When I started, I was freshly divorced with one child. Dancing taught me things about myself that I never knew, I learned who I was, what I would and wouldnt accept, gave me an insight in to the human mind you cant learn anywhere else, paid for my college which got me my degree that allows me to work the corporate job I have now, allowed me to meet my second and current husband of many many years now who is the love of my life that I have 2 beautiful kids with. It brought me from California to Florida with stops in Texas and Tenn. along the way. Brought me to Georgia for a little while. I am retired and have been for a good time now. It brought me a sisterhood with fellow dancers past and present that reminds me of a sororiety of sorts (one you can only belong to if you've ever danced). And I guess the biggest thing dancing ever brought me, was a sense of self worth, in knowing that I have worth, and it's not based on anyones opinion of me or when I was dancing, that my worth was not based on how much I brought home at the end of the night.

Improved my standard of living, allowed me to travel much of the US and dance in 20 states including Alaska. For a girl who had both parents deceased by age 15, I've come a LONG way, and hope to be financially comfortable though other ventures that I am setting up now to pursue once I retire in a year or so.

Somehow, it gave me the push I needed to go further in my life, but not necessarily in the adult industry. It will remain a fond memory.

It's given me a lot more confidence, I have earned two degrees which I paid for myself, I have traveled for work in parts of the USA and Mexico, I was able to live in other countires form 2 to 5 months and not have to dance and has helped keep me in pretty good shape.

I am now married (31/2 years) to a very caring, intelligent and resoureful man and I still dance part-time and work in the cut throat entertainment industry in LA.

Before dancing, I never would have had the confidence to work in this industry. Actually, most of the women I have met in production are really tough, mean hard and bitter bitches. I guess I have gone out of my way to not have that sort of attidtude. At least, through dancing, I understand it. Unfortunately, I have met some mean, bitter dancers.

But this thread is positive, so I'll stop.

Dancing definitely gave me a lot of confidence and really helped me develop my own personal style and sexiness. I definitely learned a LOT about reading people.

It has taken me from dancing in Atlanta to working briefly in New York. It helped to pay some of my school bills and books. It allowed me to travel to SF, LA, NY, and Miami on numerous occasions. Permitted me to invest in a short lived event promotions business. Supported me through my first couple of months of grad school. And given the erractic nature of the business with regard to a constant stream of income, it has made me a freakin' AWESOME money manager. After FINALLY getting all my school things in order, it looks like I'm going to be able to start making my first couple of investments.

Most importantly, it helped me to understand the real beauty and power of being financially independent and being able to stand on your own two feet.

You know...I'm glad that you asked this question. I am currently interviewing with a lot of law firms, and I've been terrified of what they might think if they ever found out I was a dancer. And now, after listing all the things that dancing has enabled me to do, IF they ever were to find out, I realize that I don't have a DAMNED thing to be ashamed of!

I honestly think the chances of that very slim-unless you say something yourself. You are absolutely right--you have no reason to be ashamed, look at all it taught you! Most people have wierd jobs to put themselves thru college--some girls I know are escorting thier way thru school.

Its not like they could take your bar membership away from you for being a stripper.

I have traveled to a lot a places via dancing! Here goes the list!

I have danced in: Iceland, Norway, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Japan, Guam, Canada and of course several US states.

Right now I'm dancing at Crazy Horse Too in Philadelphia, PA.

I don't see myself dancing over seas anymore, but I will definitely be dancing throughout the US. Some cities I want to hit up are NYC, Las Vegas and Miami.

I have gained a ton of self-confidence from dancing. Not to mention, when I see old high school classmates, I love seeing their expressions when I tell them what I do for a living while they sit in some cubicle in front of a computer all day for crap$$$. I work when I want, travel when I want(vacation, not for other clubs yet), and i am working on buying some property in mexico when i have enough money saved. I'd love to spend the winters down there.
