Thumbs down pain in leg and numb -like thigh

I did a search for several threads on here about foot pain/numbness. However, I haven't found one that addressed numbess in the thigh.

About 2 years ago, my left foot got a pain in it while I was dancing and after dancing, but then it went away. The pain was located just before the foot connects to the leg in the middle top part (the part where straps usually sit). I never wear my straps too tight, so I knew that wasn't the problem, and. at the time, I wore boots. I figured that since I swing around the pole a lot, the weight of the boots were pulling on my little foot, so I stopped wearing them and the pain went away.

The pain has come back when I'm dancing, and I also feel a tingly/numb sensation from my foot all the way up to my thigh. Sometimes it also feels as though the thigh muscle is tightening. I also have a tendency to walk funny on my left foot when in my dance shoes; instead of walking heel to toe, it almost seems like I put more pressure on to the middle of my foot first instead of the the heel. I have trouble pointing the foot, as well.

I'm really worried about this, as I've been dancing since I was 3 and absolutely love it. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences?

this is something that I would have checked out, numbness associates with nerves...sorry I haven't studied the nervous system beyond the basics but for sure get it checked out.

Yes, the numbness and tingling is deffinately associated with nerves...and a virus culd be the culprit. Several viruses can affect the nerves in such ways, but the herpes virus could be to blame if your whole leg is being affected. Get and hsv 1 and 2 blood test, either the IGg1 &2 test, or the Western blot just to be sure. andy pain in the tail bone or base of spine as well???

do you have any pain in your lower back? your sciatic nerve runs from your back down your leg and it could be a condition called sciatica. but its really important for you to see a doctor ASAP because any muscle weakness and numbness can indicate something serious. I dont mean to alarm you though but numbness can be an indicator of stroke.

I once suffered the same thing including neck pain, migranes, leg aches and muscle spasms (where the muscle tenses so tight that you want to cry)

Ii went to a chiropractor (sp?) and it has been 1000% better since!

I highly advise that you go, it is very affordable considering what we earn, and it will save your back.

I was at one point unable to hold a pen cause my arm would spasm... this included me unable to do the groceriers and other light duties!

Visit a chiropractor and get a check... they should do an xray and other scans and that will pin point your pain!

Good Luck and Getter Better Soon!

Thanks for all your replies. My doctor told me that since birth, my feet actually "go in"...meaning that at the ankle, the whole foot tilts inwards (not to be confused with pigeon toes). He said that scar tissue is beginning to form, which is starting to crush a nerve. Maderma was recommended to be massaged on 2-3 times per day externally...he said that it would help internally, though i've never heard of this. also, he said he doesn't recommend me wearing heels over 1 inch :-/ ugh
