Default ankle pain from stripper heels (please help!)...

I've been working for 2 1/2 months and my ankles still hurt from the heels.
It hurts to rotate them to any extreme and they've been sore since I started. At the beginning of every night it hurts to walk in the shoes and it takes hours to warm up. (I walk like the heels hurt)

I tried talking to some of the girls at work and they don't understand why my heels haven't adjusted to the heels.

Do you guys know any girls that have had my same problem?

i have foot problems. not ankle, but i do know how the pain can be in those heels. first step- get the slip on kind, no straps. that way, you can take them off to do lap dances and VIPs more comfortably. second, talk to the dj. tell him you are havin gmajor pain, maybe pay to be skipped on stage, or ask if he can put you up less because you are hurting. lastly, go to a podiatrist! take your shoes, show the doc how you walk in them, where it hurts. i wear orthotics during the day which make my pain MUCH better at night.

    Love it!

how high are the heels that you're wearing? there's no need to wear the 7 or 8 inches that some shoes boast. 4, 5, and 6 inch heels can be easier to walk in. there are other things to consider: how is the heel shaped? stilettos can be harder to walk in than shoes that have flared heels. also, look at the angle of the arch on the shoe....some shoes have platformed soles so that your foot isn't at such a sharp angle. as for straps, i used to better with straps that were tight around my feet. true, they couldn't easily be removed, but i needed the support for my ankles and knees.

there's always the boots option, if your club allows for them. i found them easier to dance in, and they kind of matched my goth look.

good luck....the foot pain sucks. however, everyone is different, so there's probably a type of shoe out there that will feel comfortable for you. don't be afraid to try them on in the store (if you have access to one).....good luck.

I agree, it could be your shoes. I like to stick with 6 inch. For me platform is a must, like she said, the shoes with little to no platform put your foot on a much sharper angle. When I first started I wore shoes with straps...easier to move around with more support and no worry of them falling off. Whatever the case, take care..we must be very careful with our bodies!

You may also want to get the wider heels...more stability. Usually ankle pain come from the foot "rolling" a bit with the stilletos.

I would also NOT advise getting a strapless shoe if you are having ankle issues. The straps help add some stability.

My achilles aches all the time. I do calf stretches before and after work.

You may want to consider a lower heel. I know plenty of girls who wear 4" heels or 5" platforms like these, this, or that. I know 2 girls who pulled off the 3" heel rather well.

It really sounds like you are having chronic inflammation in that area from a previous injury. If not from an previous injury, maybe from putting a lot strain in that area!Your best bet is to do some self help exercise and see a massage therapist. For a therapuetic massage, with some good b.m.t. Since I can not see you I can not tell you what exercise to do! But a good massage therapist can help thats in your area.

oh, i shoudl add one more thing-
acupuncture! really helps with inflammation and pain for me. i wasn't thinking about stability in walking, just ease with taking on/off to give laps.

    thanks guys.

the heels I was wearing were 6 inch platforms with straps. The platform itself was like half the thickness of a regular platform.

My achilles tendons were hurting pretty bad too when I started but that went away. Actually, last night I took percocets for the first time (at work) and wore regular 4 inch "clubbin" heels to dance in. I can't walk in my stripper shoes anymore.
I'm seeing my doctor this tuesday and getting a referral to see a sports doctor. I want a professional to assess what the hell is going on with my body. I don't want to end up with any permanent injury.

I sucks to wear regular club shoes to dance in. I almost feel like, less of a stripper, or performer. Do you guys think it'll affect the money I make?

I never realized that wearing stillettos might contribute to my pain. It makes hella sense tho. I'm SO particular about my shoes. I REALLY don't like chunky heels.

I will look into wearing boots though, I'm a little goth kid too.

I doubt it. Most customers don't want you to be taller than they are anyway.

Have your doctor check your achilles tendons as well. They may have shortened, see http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74610.

As for wearing heels without platforms to dance, I wouldn't worry as long as it's stilettos and the heel is at least 4 inches in size. I frequently wear 5 inch heels without platforms to dance and regularly get complimented by guys who prefer them to platforms.
