Default staff hustling tips at my club

My club is getting out of control, and its really starting to anoy the shit out of me. EVERYONE is hustling for more tips, and Im ready to find a new club because of it.

Example #1 - My drink costs 9.50, I give him 15 dollars and assume, since I do this every night, he will give me change for the 5 so I can give him a tip. He gives me back one dollar and keeps the 5.....$5 tip for a $9 drink?? Uhh, no. I ask for change for my 5 and he gives me an attitude, pulls the 5 out of the tip jar, gets change and throws it down.

#2 housemom - I buy a pair of 5 dollar panties off her, and give her a 20. Wait for my change, wait, wait..finally ask for my change, and she says, Oh you wanted change for that?? Wait, I just told you how slow the club is, its a tuesday night, and you want a $15 dollar tip? Mabye on a friday or saterday. But I was gonan tip her $5, as I do every night, but that made me really kinda sore on tipping her anything.

The waitress- I am sitting with a customer, he orders himself and me a drink, it comes to $23. He gives the waitress $27, and she stands there, and looks at him dumbly, and he asks if he gave her the right amount, and she says umm, its just that the drinks were $24. And he says yeah, I gave you $27, Im sorry, I dont have any more change. And she says yeah, whatever. He said come back in a few minutes and I will get change for you, and she says yeah, ok,uhhuh...and storms off. First of all..she got a $4 tip...almost 20%, even if that wasnt good enough for her, she shoudl have acted appriciative of what she got, because this man happened to be a doctor that had a lot of money, and was a good tipper, and she would have gotten more, had her behavior not been so appalling.

The icing on the cake - the bathroom attendant. I use her perfume, or take a breathmint, whatever, when I get off stage every night and go in there to freshen up, I give her my ones. Every night. This one night in particular, I go in as usual, feshen up, use her perfume, and she says, make sure you tip me for that, it isnt free. I looked at her, appalled, and said, I tip you every single night. Why did you feel the need to tell me that tonight? she said, in case you forgot. Well....her tip just got much smaller.

Then...I go in the next night, and she has signs all over every single tray of perfume, on her little tray of breathmints, and all over everythign she owns in there saying THIS IS NOT FREE!!
Well...how tacky. I told her that looks tacky as hell, and that everyone knows they are supposed to tip when they use her stuff, and putting signs up isnt going to make the non tippers tip, but it is going to make the tippers tip less. I cant even stand to go in there anymore, and avoid that bathroom as much as possible now.

My club has been slower lately, and I assume everyone is feeling the hurt, and trying to make their money, but this behavior has made me really sore on my club, and normally I am a great tipper, but I dont want to tip anyone anything now. I always thought a tip was a gratuity, something to show you appriciate the service you got, and when it is not only assumed, but asked for....makes me not want to give anything, but of course, I can do that, I would feel bad, but I started tipping the bare minimum.
Its a shame...their behavior is costing them money, when they think they are trying to get more.

That's just shameful, all of them.

Why not go outside and panhandle- at least be honest about it.

I found in Vegas that you can't get a straight answer out of anyone of what they feel is an appropriate tip. I let the people of the club I worked at know that I had never danced in Vegas before, so I didn't know the things most would consider common sense. I asked everyone, and I mean everyone, what is considered appropriate, and could not get a straight answer. It was very annoying.

I kept getting answers like "well, whatever you think is fair". I got pissy with the Champainge host after my first Champainge room and said "Well, if you don't tell me straight what you think is a nice tip, I have a crisp new one dollar bill with your name on it."

Then he finally answered "Well, I guess 10% is fair."

Since it was my first time and the customer paid in chips ($1000 worth of chips) I handed the host a $100 chip. He got pissy about that saying, "We don't accept chips as tips."

It was all I had. It was my first customer of the night. The champainge host gave me the chips in the first place! This club only allowed dancers to cash in their chips a few times a day, and we were a long way from that time. After explaining that to the champainge host, he begrudgingly accepted the chip- like he was doing me some huge favor. It was a $100 chip, fer gossake!! You would think he would have said "thank you" or something, but noooooooo.

That was the first and last time I worked at that club. Yeah, that and I have not danced in Vegas since that trip as well.

Sounds like spearmint rhino with the chips. I to had a problem with how much to tip the bouncers after VIp rooms, and for the longest time, I always tipped 20% for every single room. Then I realized, this was doing nothing for me.
I recently started tipping 10-15% for my Vip rooms, unless I was called for the room by the bouncer/door guy. If a guy walks in to vip, and asks the door guy for a girl, and they call me, I will give them about 30%, to show my appriciation for them calling me, and in hopes they will remember how well I tipped so they call me again sometime.

Suprisingly, the only people I have not had problems with is the bouncers in respect of tipping. They have never asked or hinted for one,or tried to hustle for it at all.

People who work in tourist oriented businesses in Vegas tend to expect more for their services that in other parts of the country.

These hospitality people go to Vegas for the same reasons as many dancers do. They EXPECT to get more money for their time than doing the same type of work in other cities.

Working in a strip club there or patronizing any businesses near or on the strip except for at the Fashion Show mall chain stores will elicit an entitlement of its gratuity employees for all they can get.

That is why people HATE to go to tourist traps. $23 for 2 drinks is a HUGE rip off. The going rate (depending on the drinks) in most major cities is $13-$16. And many waitresses are happy with a $2 tip for that. Many waitresses in other cities are happy to get tipped at all. LOL.

One drink usually is according to the book of etiquette worth a $1 tip. A $9.50 drink I would leave $1.50 for.

I don't buy ANYTHING from those clubs. I bring my own bottled water, don't order any drinks from the bar in upscale high hustle clubs, and tip the housemom a few dollars over her going rate just to keep in her good graces. Bathroom attendants know that $1 in their jar is the norm for squirts of cologne, several mints, etc.

What club is this that is on the take big time now? Business sure must be slow. That is why customers in Vegas get such an attitude, and local residents come out in the mornings and afternoons to the clubs. The hustle is too strong.

uhhhhhhhg. i don't think i could deal with that. demanding people irritate me. i think you did the right thing by not letting them bully you into giving more than you should.

New York is a tourist trap. San Francisco is a tourist trap. Paris is a tourist trap. Yet nowhere in the world have I ever been treated as rudely as a paying customer than Las Vegas. Everything is an upsell. There is no such thing as "service". This surly attitude of entitlement goes from the top on down. It's very unfortunate.

For example: I was one of about 15 people who went to and paid for a party at the Foundation Room. Our bill came to about 8 thousand dollars. The balance after dinner was to be transferred to any choice of bar/room. When I went to get a bottle of water I was told I had to pay five dollars for it. I told the bartender in a very civil tone that I was part of the earlier party. He said - and I quote - "That's not my problem." Later my boyfriend was told very rudely by another staff member that he couldn't sit down in an empty chair without paying for it.

I like Vegas but I think that the majority of establishments have incredibly shitty attitudes. Even by New York standards.

its Sapphire. Business is slow because they refuse to pay the cabbies. Almost every other club is paying the cabbies, but Sapphire refuses. I have worked there for going on 3 years now, and I stay there because I love the staff. The floor people/bartenders/managers all have always been very nice and treated me with respect and kindness. I have gone to other clubs and gonoe back to Sapphire because of the way the staff treats me.

But now business is slow, and with this tip thing, I have been looking at other clubs. I dont know if I want to stay big and go to SR or Scores, or try a smaller club.

I feel the same way... I just came to the realization though, that the money just isn't there, and while I'm comfortable there, comfort is not paying my bills. PM me if you wanna chat about this. A lot of girls are getting fed up, I hate going into the dressing room even just to change....lately it's been full of negative energy, girls complaining about one thing or another.

the only place that I've been equally treated badly in terms of tips is the Spearmint Rhino-- that's why I refuse to work at their clubs if there's other local clubs around-- the dj's and managers at the SR's are horrible little money grubbers to the detriment of running the club. I'm astonished that SR lets them get away with it because I've seen shifts that should have had a good amount of girls working it, NOT having enough girls by any stretch of the imagination, simply because of the manager (and to a lesser extent the DJ...though to be fair, there was another shift that I'd work where the manager and DJ were awesome, but only because they didn't money grub. This worked out for them, because more girls wanted to work their shifts, so even if they didn't get that great of a tip, they'd be getting more each day because there were more girls.)

that goes on at my club, too. the only time i go in there now is to eat or touch up my makeup. this solves the problem of running into energy-sapping drama where at least one dancer or two is piss-ass drunk and screaming at something.

geez, that just makes me sick. When did people loose the concept of tip being something ABOVE the required fee! That kind of attitude makes me want to tip nothing.
