Default NATO Chief Warns of Tipping Point in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan (Oct. - NATO's top commander in Afghanistan warned on Sunday that a majority of Afghans would likely switch their allegiance to resurgent Taliban militants if their lives show no visible improvements in the next six months.

    (snip)

"They will say, 'We do not want the Taliban but then we would rather have that austere and unpleasant life that that might involve than another five years of fighting,"' Richards said in an interview.

Well, they make their choices I guess.

It isn't like there wasn't any fighting when the Taliban ruled either. And now that some have tasted flying kites with out getting their asses kicked I doubt it will be a peaceful return to Taliban control.
