    Default Crystal Light

My best friend just hired a personal trainer who also gave her a meal plan and it's only been four weeks since she started and she looks absolutely fabulous! So I had her go grocery shopping with me and one thing I got was these Crystal Light On the Go packets. They have 5 calories, no sugar, no sodium and they come in these little packets so you just take your bottle of water and pour them in and they taste just like juice/kool-aid... very sweet and delicious and they come in all flavors. Her trainer has her drinking 100oz of water a day but the good thing about the Crystal Light is that he said they count towards her water intake. They are soooo good I'm serious. So for any of you ladies out there who don't like water but want to stay away from sugary juices and sodas, try the Crystal Light packets. It's like $4-$5 for a box of 10... not half bad IMO. And you can just put them in your purse so if you put a few bottles of water in the car you can just pour it in there when you get thirsty!

She was also telling me about how bad sodium is for you and I was shocked to read the back of a Ramen package. It said about 640mg, right? But then that was only for 1/3 block of noodle, so really a pack of Ramen has over 1800mg of sodium! And I'd sit and eat like two of them... crazy!

Crystal Light contains aspertame(sp?) which is a major cause for a lot of migraines. Be super careful with it. I used to drink Crystal Light by the gallon and couldnt figure out where my headaches were coming from till my doc mentioned that.

I would say you are better off making Honey Lemon Water, putting it in a big water jug and taking that with you. Honey contains antibacterial/antibiotic properties (raw, unpastureized honey), lemons give a zippy flavor and contain loads of vitamin C (for those winter months to heighten your immune system) and then there's the water.

Crystal Light is completely artificial and not really that healthy for you. Sure, it doesn't have any "bad" stuff (well, it does) but it doesn't have any good stuff in it, either.

I'm not naturally a water drinker, but you get used to it. I used to trick myself with Crystal Light. Now I don't have to. Another trick is tea (preferably green). But if it means CL or no water, CL is definitely better. I think the on-the-go thing is kind of a weird gimmick, but I guess it works. I never understood the 100 calorie packs either, but that's a whole 'nother topic. I mean, it costs double for the same thing!

And yeah, ramen sucks. When you actually look at labels, it's scary. There really isn't anything positive about ramen except that it keeps broke college kids alive.

My ex-trainer suggested Crystal Light to me too. I totally loved being able to drink flavored water but, also never understood why I was getting killer headaches. Until someone told me about the dangers of aspertame. I currently use green tea extract (alcohol free),grapefruit seed extract or Emergency C. I'm going to give Venus's suggestion a try.

Is there more aspartame in Crystal Light than in Diet Coke? I don't drink nearly enough water in a day, so maybe I need to check it out.

There have been debates about the dangers of aspartame for years now and so in 2005 a study was conducted by scientists to see what effects aspartame would have on a group of rats. They fed 1,800 Rats various daily amounts of aspartame (between 5000mg-4mg per kilogram of body weight) and then when each rat eventually died they performed autopsies to investigate the results. Here are the findings

The rats that were fed even the LOW amounts of aspartame showed evidence of various CANCER'S which included leukaemia, lymphomas, and tumours on multiple organs. The rats that were given 4mgs ONLY of aspartame daily were found to have lymphoma and leukaemia 62% more times than the rats that were not given aspartame. Also ONLY the rats that were fed aspartame had the brain tumours, the rats that were NOT fed it did not have brain tumours.

    Some sources http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medi...p?newsid=34040
    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/...in712605.shtml

Do some research on aspartame, seriously, because it is found in thousands of products. I had surgery to remove my tumours TWICE (in 2002 and again in 2004) which is why I started to do a lot of research about this.

True say there are argument's to both sides of the fence and rat's are obviouly not created the same as us human's but still it makes ya think.

    Seraya.

Ps. Sorry to high jack your thread angel but I just wanted to throw this information out there.

I tried Crystal Light for the first time today. I love water, so this was only out of sheer curiousity.

I don't mind CL, but it's wayyy too sweet. If I feel like juice, I would split a packet with a friend, because I hate sugary drinks.

THROW AWAY THAT SPICE PACKET! THATS where all the sodium is. you can flavor the noodles with your own herbs or spices, garlic or thyme or cayanne (sp?) or whatever you like! pesto, tomato sauce, anything!

Ramen is evil, I am always suprised when I see that section empty at walmart ( I live in a college town) and the price tag says 11 cents.
