Default does your club pay you?

at my club, girls get $60 per shift. day shift is noon-7, and night shift is 7-2. so it is less than $10 per hour, but it helps. you have to go on schedule to get paid for your shift, meaning you have to do as many stageshows as they want (it's usually one every 1-2 hours, so about 5 a night). the girls who pay the fee and freelance only have to go on stage once and show up whenever they want. getting on schedule is first come/first serve and there's usually only 6-7 girls because it's a small club, so you have to plan a week in advance if you want shift money.

anyway i was wondering if it is common for clubs to pay the girls? i've only worked at 2 clubs so far. i called deja vu to ask them about how everything works (cuz i was thinking of trying out a new club) and they said the dancer never gets paid anything by the club, and you have to make enough money to cover your fees or else you will owe the club. THIS IS TERRIBLE! i can't imagine going home after a night of stripping IN DEBT to the club...

i hear girls on the forum say they only made $40 or whatever. just wondering if you are counting any base pay? cuz if i only made $40 in tips/dances i would still make $100 because of that extra $60, you know what i mean? it gets me off to a good start. in my opinion, your base pay should at least be more pay than a minimum wage job. you are a stripper for gods sake! also with the club business getting really slow sometimes, it is good to have guaranteed money.

so if i'm going to switch clubs i would REALLY prefer clubs that give base pay. is this unrealistic or do a lot of clubs give base pay? is it rare? also do you know of any clubs in the U.S.A. that give base pay for sure?

It's unrealistic. You're lucky where you are. I've seen ONE club that would give a base pay of $50 if you showed up Monday and Teusday. Since NOBODY came in on Monday and Teusday, you made $25 a day for showing up both days. It sucked. You never got customers. Wasn't worth it unless you were damn desperate.

mine does, but you have to work day shift and you have to be on time. It's the only way they can get girls to work it! It's $25....plus you get to keep all your dance and VIP money. It's still better to work nights.

One of my clubs pays $20 for the day shift. It's the only time I've ever been paid by a club.

Most clubs do not pay you, you pay them. You are an independant contractor. Its like a manicurist paying rent for her manicure station at a salon.

    I wish.

I'm on stage at least every hour but I still have to pay $30 for my Tuesday day(12-7) shift and $50 for my Friday day shift.

Then they will clearence us off and randomly anounce lap dances are 2/$20... Umm... Yea thats when I will go pee or get something to eat.....

Then also they make us do doller dances..... If your super fast you cane make like 10 bucks in that time. Then they all make us (even if we were JUST on stage and still on our gowns) give them (the club) $3.... Its pathetic. Doller dances is such a waste of time.

We're on stage SOO much yet we pay a good amount to be there.... erg.

Nope not here in Victoria Australia either. Dont know about other states. The only pay we ever get from the club is if we do a bucks party on stage. They give each girl $35 each to do a one song show on stage with the buck.

5-8 years ago my old club in NZ used to pay dancers...they still pay the bude swimmers.

basically the club is set up with a massive fishtank, theres a stage rotation and a pool rotation- stage dancers used to be paid $80 p/n and $20 bonus if you arrived by 8pm. (nzd) that was great.

now they just pay the pool girls 450 a night i think it is.

i get a base pay of $100/night, but that's just my base wage for my stage shows. only the showgirls get the base pay, the podium girls don't.

My club did an experiment recently where they had all the girls dance for free at a certain time of night, except we didn't technically dance for free, the club paid us at the end of the night. They were asking us how we felt about doing free dances and basically we were all "I'm not showing my pu$$y for free!!!!!" So, I don't think they're going to do that. Who the hell is going to dance or do anything for free? Not me, I'd either just stand there or go in the back because they can't make someone who's not being paid by the club to do anything for free!

Some clubs will pay the dancers as waitresses...some clubs don't. I don't think that there is really a norm.

I got paid for that one western Ontario gig. I think a lot of the little clubs in the little Ontario towns do pay dancers, if you're doing shows like they do out West. I think you even get shift pay for some of the smaller clubs if you're on schedule, even if you're local. Back in the day more clubs would pay shifts for dancers around here too (i've heard). But now there is no shortage of girls, and the money is such that it would be very rare to go home in debt (like, snow blizzard or power-outage kind of rare). I would think anyway...maybe it's more common for day shift dancers to have trouble making anything some days, but still.

There are a few clubs in the upper mid west that pay their dancers in the neighborhood of $300-450 for a 6 day booking (in one week). You generally have to be there open to close (usually 4pm-2am) and have to turn over a substanial amount of your private dance money (like 25-40%).

Most of the US the dancers pay to work in the clubs.

Toronto clubs has 'shift pay' I think its between $40 and $60 a shift depending on the shift/club. I get paid per show anywhere I dance now but thats as a showgirl/feature. I have never heard of anywhere in the US though that pays their girls... I think its a rare thing unless you dance in Utah...

clubs in europe usually pay a base payment of around $ 50 net per working day, no matter if it is monday or saturday, it is paid for each day the dancer works. on top of that the payment for lap dances + usually a commission payment for consumed drinks the girl has while talking to a guest. almost 98% offer free accommodation and apart from the UK nobody charges a club fee. about half the clubs also pay a flight cost reimbursement.

Jumbo's Clown Room in L.A. pays the dancers minimum wage, plus they keep their stage tips. No one does lapdances there (technically you can and they have one seat for it, but I've never seen one done). There's no real money in it, especially since they went from pastie to full bikini. I don't know why the dancers work there... it's easy, I guess. And they do get that minimum wage.

All dancers at my club are paid "by the hour", well the hours your shift is. You are put on a schedule and pay you a wage similar to waitressing. Then they take taxes out of your check.
I like it a lot because I don't have to worry about filing as self-employed and figure everything I owe for what I make in tips. Plus that little paycheck is nice at the end of the week

If I agree to work 7-2 (or 12-7, I guess) I get like $50, and I do 3-4 stage shows rather than 1. It's been an advantage once or twice - when it's made me stay two or three hours longer than I would have; outside of that it is usually 10 or 12% of what I make. So, it's not worthless, but it's not making my night.

I get 2.13$/hr for my scheduled days. Other shifts I work I just get tips though. But the extra 50$ a week is helpful to me.

I get paid by all the clubs I work at. Anywhere from $250-$500. I dont have to do so many dances to keep it either. Most clubs take $5 from each dance and I can do as many or as little as I want.

We get $2.13 an hour on top of what we earn during the night. It's crap but at least we don't pay the club to work there.

My old club paid the dancers hourly, but also had them as ICs. It was good and bad (being an employee for "mandatory scheduling" rules but having to claim the vast majority of tips as an IC and not getting insurance, etc).
according to my accountant this is technically illegal , unless the club can legally structure this payment as some sort of 'expense reimbursement' via a 1099-misc form (i.e. reimbursement of travel expenses to come work at that club for a week) ... it CANNOT be structured as 'wages'.

All dancers at my club are paid "by the hour", well the hours your shift is. You are put on a schedule and pay you a wage similar to waitressing. Then they take taxes out of your check.
I like it a lot because I don't have to worry about filing as self-employed and figure everything I owe for what I make in tips.
According to my accountant, this is DEFINITELY illegal. If a dancer is treated as an employee by her club, i.e. the club's payroll system withholds income taxes and cuts her a weekly paycheck, then all tip and other income earned by the dancer at that club must by law be reported and turned over to the club by the dancers. The club's payroll system must then withhold income and SSI / medicare taxes based on the total amount of gross earning. The clubowner must also pay state comp and unemployment insurance premiums plus employer's share of SSI and medicare tax payments based on the total amount of dancer's earnings, with the employee dancer eventually receiving a paycheck from the club's payroll system that is the 'net' of all of her weekly earnings. The total of all weekly 'net' earnings must then be reported by the club at the end of the year via W2 to the IRS.

If the club only claims 'minimum wage' payments to a dancer, and if the dancer then attempts to claim additional tip and other earnings as a private contractor, from a technical standpoint this is fraud on the dancer's part and underreporting of income on the club's part. Usually, 'employee' dancers are forced into this situation because the clubowners refuse to accept reports of additional tip and other income (since it costs them much more money on a percentage basis for employer taxes and insurance premiums). While the IRS will probably be happy that employee dancers 'tried' to make tax payments on their tip and other income, they will NOT be happy with the clubowner as he is technically evading payment of mandatory 'employer' taxes and insurance fees.

As the clubowner will undoubtedly play 'dumb' if audited, the fault will fall to the dancer for failing to 'properly' report her tip and other income via the club's payroll system. Also, if a dancer files a W2 for 'wage' income earned at club X, and also attempts to file 'additional tip income' on form 1040 and/or a Schedule C in the name of the same club for additional income which is as large or larger than her 'wage' income, this will start red flags waving like crazy at the IRS. Since the 'employer' club has an employer identification number which is listed on the dancer's W2, it will then take 2 milliseconds for IRS computers to bring up every other tax return filed by dancers who also work for that club. If some/most of those other dancers have NOT also claimed 'additional tip income' or Schedule C 'business income', it's distinctly possible that the club and every dancer working for that club will wind up on the IRS audit list.
