    Default forgetfulness

I am having a problem forgetting things a lot lately. I have left my lights on in my car twice in the last month and someone had to jump me off. I frequently forget what I was going to say/do next if someone distracts me or keeps talking. I constantly leave things somewhere that I needed or forget to pack them. I have to admit my life is a lot more rushed than it use to be living in Washington part-time. I am certainly looking forward to moving back here full-time next week. Does anyone else have this problem?

Only if I haven't eaten for a while (low blood sugar), and tired or very stressed out. Which actually happens a lot now that I think about it...guess I forgot that I forget! lol

Stress/depression can cause memory lapses. How are you sleeping? Are you able to relax (solo or with a mate) a few times a week, at a minimum?

OH man. LOL This is my Life!!!!! I have ADD & some mysterious problem with short-term recall. NONE of it drug-related, I never did hard drugs as a teen, & only a little pot in my 20s.

What I do now is: The Alphabet Game- I'll curl my fingers into the American Sign Language Alphabet letters to remember something...to remind myself I have a task "on hand." For example- Letter "L" means Laundry. Letter "B" means Breakfast. And so on.

Lists are a must...try to break list tasks into small groups, so you can prioritize & not try to tackle too much at one time & get overwhelmed.

There's always creative ways to fix forgetfulness problems. You have to catch yourself the first time & examine the situation so it is not repeated. & Don't be hard on yourself....to err is human.

Somewhat stressed out and I am tired because I work 60 hours weekly or more sometimes and commute back and forth, which like I said is going to be over next week. If I sit still lately for more than 5 minutes I get really sleepy regardless of the amount of caffeine I get. Looking forward to being home and not commuting on my days off.

Hmm...I don think I am forgetful, I just think I am a ditzy blonde.
I have locked my keys in my car, while it was running. I used to lock my keys in my car so often I had to get on of thoes things where you can hide your key under the wheel well.
I forgot to turn the car off one night, and didnt realize it was still running until I was sitting in the living room wondering what that sound was in the garage.

When I was 14, I decided I would be cool and back the car out of the driveway for my mom. Well, I forgot to shut the car door(where my brain was on that one??) I backed into our horsetrailer. The door caught on the side of the trailer, and I thought, well, if I give it a little gas, it will unsnag, right? NOPE - the door fell off. However, the look on ym mothers face when she came otuside and saw the car, with the door on the ground was priceless. I will forever cherish that look.

Then theres running the bathwater and forgetting until you see the river.

    I need focus factor.

I forget a lot of things.

Someone I know actually went to the doctor for it and the doctor checked him out and told him it was just stress and that it can make you forget things. As it turned out though, his wife (now ex) was actually lying to him about things so of course he couldn't remember because they never really happened.

I find that whenever I eat white sugar or white flour ..... I tend to be more forgetfull. Look at your diet and try to cut out (or at least dramatically decrease) your intake of white sugar and flour.

On top of that... start exercising your memory muscle... it is a muscle just like every other muscle... if you don't exercise it... it can turn to "fat" (not so great memory).

Please explain..I used to have the best memory but, lately stress is robbing it from me. I take Ginko and it does help, not as much as I would like it too though. I hate having to write list because I usually forget where I put them!!

I waste more time walking around my house looking for my coffee. I carry it from room to room and I'm forever forgeting where I last put it down. My son once found my coffee in the linen closet! And I'm forever forgeting what I got up to do while at work. I'll leave my office get to the end of hall and forget what I got up for. I end up retracing my steps in order to remember. I often wonder if it has anything to do with the hard partying that I did when I was younger.
