    Default Wildlife Weekend

I almost forgot about this. A couple of weekends ago we're doing projects around the house. Painting to be exact. I'm upstairs, hubby is down stairs, son is somewhere and the cat is outside. My husband hears the cat at the back door and goes to see whats up. I hear him exclaim "Good boy, you got the chipmunk"! and the next thing I hear is the backdoor opening at which point to decide this is a good time to go downstairs to see what is happening. I'm just in time to see the cat run in and drop the chipmunk. Chipmunk is not dead. Husband tries to catch chipmunk which is running for his life from the cat who is chasing it around the kitchen. Little known fact, when chipmunks are scared they spit out whatever they have in their little cheeks. Nuts and seeds everywhere. Now my son has appeared and has joined in the chase. Chairs are getting knocked over, table bumped into, it's just crazy but in a comical kinda way and I can't help but laugh. My husband does not see the humor and yells at me to help. I acknowledge the need for my help and go open up the backdoor and out runs the chipmunk with the cat hot on his little fuzzy heels. I sweep up the nuts and seeds, straighten out table, pick up chairs and tease my husband for being a dumb ass city boy from Brooklyn.

A couple of hours later, we've all returned to our places and the cat appears once again this time at the front door with a bird. I know this because my husband exclaims "Good boy, you got the bird!" deja vu all over again. Now I have a bird flying around my freshly painted livingroom. Little known fact, birds, no matter how small, produce an enormous amount of shit. I have never seen so much bird shit from ONE bird in my life. It's all over my walls and windows but luckily not my furniture because it's covered up because we're painting. Again, the scene is crazy, brid flying around, cat running around, no, leaping around and husband running around waving is arms trying to catch bird, this time son has appeared and is hiding under a table so he doesn't get shit on. Again, cries for help so I go and open the front door and the brid flies out.

You would think, my husband would have known better after the chipmunk earlier. But his defense is the same, "I thought it was dead" and "I thought the cat would leave it outside" Hello...it's a cat, not a dog!

This is why when I get to work on Mondays, and my coworkers ask me how my weekend was, I tell them I'm glad to be back at work so I can get some rest.

New house rule - NEVER open the door for the cat if it's holding a seemingly dead animal in it's mouth.
